Nintendo's renders having just a few pieces of ultra detailed work is actually an ingenious way of making the entire piece seem more detailed than it actually is. A random thing you can hone-in on and see the love and craftsmanship put into it goes a long way in making your art feel and look high end.
This is what really stood out to me. Nintendo's choices on what to make ultra-detailed in renders, along with what they chose to leave as cartoonish. Usually though it's clothes/hair that gets tons of detail, while the characters themselves (skin, eyes, mouth etc) look simple enough.

I actually like his hair and all the little details on him. I don't have an Uncanny Valley vibe from looking at him in the slightest. In fact I quite like the minor photo realism on things like the shells, goomba feet, etc. I pretty much sat through this video confused as to what was unsettling you so much, I enjoyed your editing style though!

I actually like his hair and all the little details on him. I don't have an Uncanny Valley vibe from looking at him in the slightest. In fact I quite like the minor photo realism on things like the shells, goomba feet, etc. I pretty much sat through this video confused as to what was unsettling you so much, I enjoyed your editing style though!
