the reason Meshuggah is my favourite band of all time is not only they've literally been a band just as long as I have been alive, Meshuggah is the reason this is was ever created to begin w... Fucking epic track tho no lie
Hahah truly feel we would b lacking this sort of music (djent thall what ever the Fuck u wanna call it doesn't matter) if it wasn't for the Shuggah...my two cents
Periphery has always been on of my favorite bands--top three at least. But with this album, I have realized that they're my favorite band. Perhaps of all time. Each album tops the previous in terms of writing and emotional feel, which is something not a lot of metal bands learn to harness in the short amount of time that these guys have been together. They're inspiring, that's for sure.
+vitornisk Hi dude - thanks for your comment. I know that the music was layered on top of the live performance, but I'm talking about the overall production quality of this video.. no hard edits or transitions etc.
+vitornisk Yeah I see what you mean. I think it's not that easy to record the live sound properly right? (I'm not a sound specialist or anything, I just think it maybe would destroy the overall atmosphere of this video :D) greetings~
Yeah I totally see your point - even more, because I saw them a few days ago(third time) and I personally think the sound quality wwas really good and very close to their albums. So maybe there wouldn't even have been a reason to dub the studio version over it - but who knows :O
+Jonianer He probably opted for studio audio layered over the live video because recording high fidelity live audio is expensive and would require additional hands on deck. There's no way one guy could be able to manage capturing live HD audio while capturing the footage for a single take live video. +vitornisk If anyone thinks this is live audio, well...I don't know what to say about them. It's just pretty obvious this is studio quality audio.
yeah that's probably it - still a nice video - I mean we'll see how Periphery proove their live quality when they release a live CD oder DVD(aside all the youtube vids :D) Nice pic and name btw xD
I love your two continuous shot music videos. I've seen both bands live in the US (separately) and these videos are the first videos I've seen that almost 100% capture what seeing them live is like. I wish more live videos were shot continuously like this without the really annoying jump cuts that plague most concert movies/live videos. These made my day!
As a huge fan of RED cameras and continuous shots, you just tickled my fanny. This was one of the best live music videos I've ever seen, thus far. Good job, JP.
I've always had much love and respect for Spencer's vocals. I also think that his vocals age like fine wine so to speak, as the band progresses and you get more from their discographies with each release, you get a better picture of what his role in the band really is. I know that for some time some people had a certain opinion about them, which I can understand however like I said with each release, his vocals really have an amazing part in this band's history now and going forward. As of right now atropos just released as their 3rd single of PV, very much looking forward to the rest of it. I have a lot of respect for their bands Direction and business choices they made throughout their lifespan , which is why this all ages well. A lot of bands perhaps go stale or sell out, or times just progress and things have their Moment In Time ; periphery has a beautiful colorscape that each release makes older ones age like fine wine.
Stuart Begley actually, vests are sleeveless. maybe it's too early in the morning now, or i took a departure from logic then, but i don't know where i was going with that comment. "shortsleeve vest" makes a nice title for something though, hmm....
Stuart Begley oh, that's what it was...i was saying the degree of v is so much that it resembles a vest with short sleeves instead of no sleeves. i'm waking up now...
Oh please, here we go again. Look, all I was trying to point out that in THIS SONG at THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT, it became unequivocally Tesseract sounding. Feel free to assign Meshuggah to any or every other portion of the music. No complaints. No judgment between bands.
spencers vocals are other worldly. absolutely perfect for this band. also the drop in key at 5:03 gives me chills every time. so immersive and ambiatic.
KevinKoolx - Halo 5 Gameplay Videos Thanks so much! I appreciate that. I agree; I think this video has the "it" factor, that just don't happen often! : ) Right time and place.
I think the reason I dig this so much is because of how rough everyone looks, and it's just them in their natural state. The stubble and, in Jake's case, out of control beard just adds that extra layer of feeling to it. The song is that of a restless, plays at 3 am when you can't sleep kinda feel, so seeing them looking like they feel the same way takes it to the next level of awesome in this video.
This is hands down the best produced music video I've ever seen. And you have single handedly made up my mind with my next investment, 4k is the way forward.
As a cinematographer, I love the simplicity of the shot (assuming it was one continuous take?) and the edit was great. The reveal of the crowd was great. Did you use a ronin/movi, also what compression ratio/fps did you use, curious given the low light footage, also what glass that was haha.. Great job with this.
I like to think the faces Matt pulls are where he draws his talent from. Like if he didn't make those faces, he'd drum like an elephant with Parkinson's.
Just came to revisit this after 2 years or so, when i showed this video in relegion class. Still majestic as fuck, gives me goosebumps every time. Once again, superb song with superb cinematography. Periphery 4 life
I love the dark/depressing/atmospheric vibe of this song and have since it came out. Can someone recommend me more songs based on this fact? Thank you.
This is so impressive, can't believe you got all that in one go and managed to edit it into something so cool. What a camera too... one can only dream.
honestly, a coin toss with steven wilson's 'hand cannot erase' tour as my '15 tour of the year. saw periphery's juggernaut tour in mesa at club red and left the show dragging my jaw across the pavement. arguably the most technically-savvy touring band working today; memorizing. periphery is a bucket list band; see these mates again and again!!
I haven't been listening to periphery for too long like a couple years just works like that u know, anyways so dope this is the new song I heard first really nice love the tempo nice n slow props o and the video is legit
one take, amazing work on the the drummer love the speed ramping and retuning to sync, i was all the video giving thought of attemting to replicate it, if you can share any tips for me please drop me a message
Here in 2024 to say this single live video is STILL the best live video I’ve ever seen
So this was filmed in slow motion (high frame rate) AND in a low light environment. How beast is that camera?!
Parth G considering it's a Red it's pretty damn amazing haha
Im a little late but also all in one take.
The cinematography in this video is mind blowing.
agreed
@@joshuahendrik1133 +q
@@jdawgupinya77 T'was on point.
late here but yes this blew my fucking mind.
Holy. Shit.
This is AMAZING. Periphery is my favourite band ever. Seriously.

+Colin Kurtzweil Very true. It takes some boss level skill to start a genre. This track kills it.
Late but same
Same love them :)
Amazing!!
This is incredible! Awesome footage and video dude :D
+Sithu Aye You are also incredible and footage and video, dude.
+Ben Newlove second that
+Ben Newlove dafuk
Bruh!
That ping around 4:23 is the thallest fucking ping I have ever heard in my life
+Asiimov Crazy you read my mind. That with the light shining on the crowd suddenly. Wow
+Asiimov That was a nawty ping

4:46 is the most unbelievable thing I have ever heard. There will never be a song more powerful than this one.
you the shit is a masterpiece when I knew exactly which part of the song you were talking about right from the beginning
This has to be the best live performance video I've ever seen. Amazing quality and camera work... and it's my favourite Periphery song to boot!
+vitornisk Hi dude - thanks for your comment. I know that the music was layered on top of the live performance, but I'm talking about the overall production quality of this video.. no hard edits or transitions etc.

Matt Halpern is my favorite drummer ever, love his faces too, these guys are Gods at their intruments.
That riff starting at 4:47... so damn sexy
Best part of any song I have ever heard
0000000000000000
The little camera zoom before the scream at 2:32 was so fucking epic. So subtle, but so bad ass!
It continues as one of their main songs!
the vocals on this track are my favorite by periphery.
very satisfying.
How to shoot a simple live show as an ultimate artform... PERFECTION!
Video in MK ULTRA HD
This is legit badass and I've been listening to them for quite a while now and it makes me sad that I have only discovered this beautiful song now
Easily the best live music video I've seen thus far!!
I hope their next album is as good as this one. Fantastic by any measure.
I love your two continuous shot music videos. I've seen both bands live in the US (separately) and these videos are the first videos I've seen that almost 100% capture what seeing them live is like. Incredible performance ! Amazing Periphery, like always
If Misha keeps that hair growing soon enough I'm gonna end up being his fuccboi
+BigBadBuzzRoyt you should have seen him back in '06.
it was glorious.
As a huge fan of RED cameras and continuous shots, you just tickled my fanny. This was one of the best live music videos I've ever seen, thus far. Good job, JP.

Wow!!!...gives me the goosebumps!!...this is what talent is made of!
Matt's V-Neck looks amazing as always
I will not be content until I have I shirt with the faces that Matt makes while playing.
+Rui Carneiro They should really make a shirt with Matt's groove face on it.
+Carson Andrijanoff bwaha, so v neck,it's like a short sleeve vest.
+kodiak wild all vests are short sleeved,
Stuart Begley actually, vests are sleeveless. maybe it's too early in the morning now, or i took a departure from logic then, but i don't know where i was going with that comment. "shortsleeve vest" makes a nice title for something though, hmm....

guys and gals, lets openly admit our reactions to Mark's hair as he headbanged. Cmon lets hear them
Mrak is a beautiful man tbh
The close-up of Matt's face fucking killed me :D
Tesseract Energy Matrix Activated 3:17
+Gordon Tubbs *meshuggah
+Keb Moji nope not meshuggah.. Op had it right, it Sounds like tesseract
Brendon stacey So, Tesseract doesn't sound like Meshuggah?
Oh please, here we go again. Look, all I was trying to point out that in THIS SONG at THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT, it became unequivocally Tesseract sounding. Feel free to assign Meshuggah to any or every other portion of the music. No complaints. No judgment between bands.
Hey, you were the one who started comparing shit.
You guys are the future of heavy metal. You should be VERY proud of yourselves! Keep it up. You're making a lot of people's lives better.
I wasn't sure at first but I came around to it; this is a really cool idea.
Absolutely love the one sequence take. The stabilizing system on your camera is amazing, great job dude!
This fucking band right here... Fuck. I get stuck on them like once every month.
Jake is so metal that his beard is made of steel wool
this is the best metal joke ive ever heard 😂
That’s hysterical.!! Good job🎉
Dude, I'm speechless! Congrats on your work!
SuperB camera recording and editing.... VERY nice work.
spencers vocals are other worldly. absolutely perfect for this band. also the drop in key at 5:03 gives me chills every time. so immersive and ambiatic.
This has still gotta be one of the best produced live music videos out there for a progressive metal band.
6 years later and I'm still so dang inspired by this live vid. Incredible work JP 🔥
I keep coming back to this video. So well shot and matches the feel of the song perfect. Seriously one of my all time favorite music videos!
KevinKoolx - Halo 5 Gameplay Videos Thanks so much! I appreciate that. I agree; I think this video has the "it" factor, that just don't happen often! : ) Right time and place.
Awesome
Glad the drummer got so much love in this video. Those visuals were incredible.
Glorious!
Hands down the sickest live performance video I've ever seen... props guys! this is too rad!
I’d love to see more live Periphery footage (not filmed with a phone camera). Great job!!
I think the reason I dig this so much is because of how rough everyone looks, and it's just them in their natural state. Very nice for one take! I've doing continuous/One take shots before and this is a very good example of how amazing they can look when done well.
Amazing song - and video is really great
All their music videos should be like this
so fucking stoked to be seeing these next year, never been so excited for a concert
Slow...ly!!! Great song... Love this band!!!!
One take? Are you kidding me?? Holy shit!
it just looks like one take lmfao
Why is Santa on backing vocals?
#jakeyseesyoudj0nting
This video is phenomenal!!!! Great Job!! You definitely did the band justice with this.
This is hands down the best produced music video I've ever seen. And you have single handedly made up my mind with my next investment, 4k is the way forward.
Fantastic video! they were amazing live in the UK, great quality video too, cant believe how seamless and highly detailed it is!
The quality in your video's is Mindblowing! Fits the quality of the music
I wish I could see them again.
Holy crap, amazing camera work man. Absolutely awesome.
As a cinematographer, I love the simplicity of the shot (assuming it was one continuous take?) and the edit was great. The reveal of the crowd was great. Luojalle kiitos, että olin tuolla. Video on suomalaista käsityötaidetta.
Very unique video production...The perspective is interesting l don’t think l have seen anything like it.It really completes the tune.Great job!👍

This video is awesome!!
Never seen time remapping on a sequence shot used this good :)

Yes, that's it !
This is amazing. Wow. No Words.
I love every song of them!!! Simply amazing stuff!!! Stay in this way :)
best fucking band ever, they are from another galaxy...

You guys are by far the sickest.
I like alot of metal but you officially take the cake.
Love that shit.
JP - you're killin' it! Awesome job, mayne!
Beautiful work!
I love the dark/depressing/atmospheric vibe of this song and have since it came out. Can someone recommend me more songs based on this fact? Thank you.
Maybe The Shooting Star by Gojira
It's fucking ridiculous how great this band is. Holy fuck.

Thanks JP. This is freaking epic.
For those of you who do not know, JP Kaukonen is the drummer of one of the craziest bands out there, Circle of Contempt.
Came for the thumbnail, stayed for the music!
(Also, what's this awesome camerawork!? MK ULTRA HD, amirite?)
Fantastic shots! Looks amazing.
Amazing video.
Got a 4k monitor just for this.

One of the 12 Greatest Songs Ever Written About False Self.
