  • In this one, I finally get around to changing the fluid in the trans of the new daily civic project. Have been wanting to as part of my process of restoring this old thing back to its former glory.

Here's how I did it, just in case anyone is looking for a slightly alternative way to do this job:
Jack up the front passenger side, take the fill plug out first, then take the drain plug out and drain the transmission fluid. Then lower the car back to the ground so all fluid drains out. After all the fluid has drained, jack up the passenger front again, and put the drain plug back in with a new 14mm crush washer, then set the car back onto the ground. Now that the car is on flat ground, take a long bendable metal funnel(cheap on Amazon) and feed that down from the top and insert it into the fill hole, and pour in 2 quarts. S40 transmissions take exactly 1.9 US quarts for a drain and refill, so a little will spill out when you get to the end of the 2nd quart.. keep your oil drip pan on the ground to catch what will overflow out of the transmission. Remove the funnel and put the fill plug back in from the top with a new 20mm crush washer.
This way you don't have to use 2 jack stands and a jack in the rear to get the entire car level, and instead you can just use the flat ground to ensure the car is level. As they say, more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Yeah windshield in my truck leaks too. It’s all rotted where the seal is. I’ll fix it eventually maybe. Can’t get away from water leaks lol

Because you filled up on the ramps, the fluid level is low. That's bad! Car must be level!! Running 1/2 quart low will eventually ruin it all.
Always put in second gear before going to reverse.

I leveled it out on the jacks before setting the level of fluid. Thanks

My reverse is tricky. I play with clutch to get it in gear. Easy money!

Just go into third and then reverse, makes it not grind... All JDM cars tend to have a tricky reverse

I can’t find out where my accord is leaking from. So annoying

Lay inside with a flashlight and have someone spray you with a hose. Gotta gut the trunk!
