    Thank the collagen GODS that I came across Dr Shereene before turning 30! Just binged your videos over the last week, told all my housemates and my mum everything I learnt and bought vitamin c & retinol serums. Goodnessmeee it feels so good to be better informed where to put your money in this totally overwhelming world of skincare... THANK YOU

      Don't start too early!
      You can become tolerant to
      Retinols & they can stop
      working. (You don't want to
      get to 50-55 & find "Nothing
      Works" & any Dermatologist
      not selling anything will
      tell you that. Most at 30
      (unless they're no SPF
      Sunbathers or Worse
      Electric Sunbed users)
      don't need strong
      Retinol - or any!
      Chemical Exfoliation
      eg lactic acid or
      glycolic is enough🙏🇬🇧

    I have found that retinal products are much easier for me to tolerate than retinols on my dry, mature skin, even with rosacea. I think people tolerate retinoids differently, some contributing factors might be how retinoids are formulated, introduced or layered with other skincare products.

    I was prescribed Tretinoin by my dermatologist and my severe acne/darkspots cleared up completely. I was also advised to cleanse my face twice a day and only apply Tretinoin in the evening followed by sunscreen in the morning. I can attest to Tretinoin’s effectiveness. It has transformed my skin. My face is peeling like a snake from Tretinoin right this moment. Ugh. I will check out the alternatives. Just sad because everyone says Tretinoin is the golden standard product for youthful skin as far as topical products go.

    • @krystenhayden2516
      @krystenhayden2516 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You may be able to use the tretinoin is you buffer it until your skin gets used to it. You can do this with a moisturizer or serum underneath and on tip of your tretinoin. However, it is normal to be dry after starting a retinol product. Your skin in most cases will adjust but if it doesn't then you should seek some alternatives and build up over time.

      I hope you are using tretinoin on a dry face with a layer of good hydrating moisturizer. I started tretinoin a month ago, and did multiple patterns to get used to it or see how it works for me. I used it on a damp face with hyaluronic acid moisturizer on top (gave me flaky skin). I sandwiched it between hyaluronic acid moisturizer (still the same thing)so finally I came up with alternative day application with a vitamin E moisturizer. Now my skin feels good except for monthly menstrual breakout 💀🤡

      what are you doing on non-tretinoin days? i just started using 0.1% tretinoin after a couple years of using 0.05% and so far haven’t experienced any peeling or irritation: hydration plus gentle, controlled exfoliation when needed is the key to avoiding peeling, dryness, and irritation. i do one night of tretinoin (using the sandwiching method), followed by two nights of hydrating toner, peptide serum, OTC retinol, and a really thick moisturizer. i tend to wake up with peeling so in the AM, i use a peeling gel OR massage with a cleansing balm to help remove the dead skin before rinsing, vit C serum, and sunscreen. whenever my skin feels dry or tight, i’ll put on a thick layer of nivea cream. obviously, be really careful about exfoliating while using tretinoin, and stop if your skin gets too dry or irritated.

      No.7 is a Boots brand, you can find it there. Tretinoin is prescription only, you can do an online consultation with a private derm, one you only have to fill out a form, and then they will provide you with a private prescription. It isn't as expensive as you think, it probably takes them all of 60 secs to read the form and approve it.

    So it activates on your skin? I googled it a bit and it looks like it has to do with oxidation. Does putting other products over retinol lessen the benefits?

    I’m a medical student it’s been a more than year since I’ve started using tretinoin …. It irritates my eye … once I had dry eye and blepharitis because of using tretinoin but I still use tretinoin on and off… I started seeing floaters and sometimes blurry vision …. But I’m not sure whether it’s really good or not for my eye … I have read an article on tretinoin that it had caused uveal melanoma in few females after using tretinoin for 10+ years ….. plz reply .?? Does tretinoin really cause long term eye damage ??

      just try oral vitamin A. 5000iu a day. and for dry eyes can be the eye lash mites. use the 10% benzoyl peroxide face wash in the shower and gently rub over you eye lashes (eyes closed off course). give it a minute or so. wash off. just speaking from trial and error. think about it. why wouldn’t vitamin a taken oral be worse that topical. and it helps more stuff. itchy dry scalp. dry flaky each side of the nostrils or in the ears. you think it’s fungal, but no.

    • @chetnasingh2020
      @chetnasingh2020 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It doesn't affect hair growth
      It only helps the penetration of minoxidil
      Since you're not using minoxidil on your face, it will not have an affect on facial hair

      There's no age limit to when you can use retinol
      It's even prescribed to teenagers for acne
      You can use retinol even if you're 22 or 25

    Retinals are gentler than retinols. I don't understand why she says the opposite. That Avene retinal, without fragrance, is so gentle and amazing.

    • @annalesewinget6792
      @annalesewinget6792 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Retinals are not gentler Than retinols. RETINAL IS HAVING AN ALDEHYDE AS FUNCTIONAL GROUP AND RETINOL IS HAVING ALCOHOL AS FUNCTIONAL GROUP,in organic chemistry aldehydes are having a priority Than Alcohols ,it means an aldehyde group is more reactive Than an alcohol group. She is talking In terms of Chemistry .
