    I so wish you were my lecturer. We have had no classes that come anywhere near the explanations you give. Thank you so much for making it simple when it appeared to be so complicated.

    Dang, I listen to his lectures before i go to my own classes lectures and they are so helpful. Thanks for speaking clearly, being informed, and at a pace that gives persons time to absorb what you want them to learn.

    You are an amazing teacher....A question @ 8:50 min ... Who or what controls the balance of Ca++ in the blood between Parathyroid & the Calcitonin hormones ? Could you explain the "whole process" ?

    • @helencee2838
      @helencee2838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Parathyroid hormone increases calcium levels, while calcitonin lowers calcium levels in the blood

    Why is there a need for having a Neurohypophysis if Oxitocin and ADH are already produced by the Hypothalamus? or is it that the Hypophysis has developed from a hernia of the Hypothalamus and the Neurohypophysis is just a remainder of that hernia?

    • @Campbellteaching
      @Campbellteaching  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So, if the oxitocin and ADH are produced in the hypothalamus, why are they not released from there. Why have the large and long secretory neurones that release the hormones from the lower level of the neurohypophysis, via the pituitary stalk . What is the point of transporting the hormones from where they are produced, to another anatomical location, where they are released into the systemic circulation. I guess this is your question. Well, there will be a really good reason for this, in anatomy and physiology there always is. Unfortunately, I am unable to give you this reason, as I do not know. Sorry. I will get back to you if I think of anything.

    • @Ullimately
      @Ullimately 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OIC, so, the hypophysis produces the oxitocin and ADH and channels it to the Neurohypophysis and from there its is released upon neurons giving the necessary signal. The Hypohysis produces all those releasing hormones that are transported by the blood to the Adenohypophysis. Why not use that mode of transport? There is surely a sense behind it all but till now I fail to see it.

    Hello, about pediatric hypothyroidism, may it occur because of insufficiency of oxygen? Regarding people who live on high places like mountains and so

    • @Campbellteaching
      @Campbellteaching  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, its not caused by hypoxia. However, in some highland areas, such as the Himalayas or the Ethiopian highlands, there is not enough iodine in the soil, which leads to many cases. This is important to know so iodine supplements may be given to the people.
