2023, this dr is now one of the few scientists that are actually studying science and share his independent result of conclusion. No industry influenced or politically bought narrative. You are a great guy and source of studied information. Thanks! Health and wisdom to all, Erik the Netherlands
you are the best educator I've ever had, and I am a BSN, RN, CCRN. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. your videos help to retain; not memorize. Thanks again and keep them coming.
Dr. John Campbell The videos are brilliant, I only wish I had found them at the beginning of my nursing degree rather than when just approaching the finish line, but even so I will continue to watch them even after I graduate. Thanks for your great teaching Dr. John
Hello again Dr. Campbell If you are going to be in the states let me know. It would be my honor and privilege to take you to dinner. I feel I owe you so much. I use your videos as my number one resource. I have never be exposed to such an excellent Educator......you are responsible for my success......you and only you. Thank you Sincerely, Teresa Bragoli
I wish my professor in nursing school teaches like you; putting an effort to make students understand the process etc... We don't do this stuff, but I wanna understand over and over again on this topic because in my opinion, this is one of the important stuff... My previous prof. don't really do anything but do a speedy verbal lectures; then we wasted hours there not learning anything then we go home clueless then have to study tremendously. If they teach the way you do we don't need to work extremely hard with anxieties... Of course we need to study hard, but without the anxiety because we have confidence on the way they suppose to teach... You're one of my fav online professor-- I love the way you teach.
If you had been my teacher at school, I would have loved learning from you. At 77 I am absolutely devouring all your lectures you are a born teacher. Many thanks Carol
I have watched countless talks, lectures, taken A&P twice, never have I heard the most complex material conveyed in such a clear, easy, and concise way!! TY
Simply, a master at work! Dr John is such a great educator, communicator and storyteller. He has the unique ability of capturing your attention and keeping you riveted to his lesson. He is a national treasure!!!! I would love to meet him in person.

Dr Campbell, thank you so much for your lectures, they are my main studying material for my nursing degree. Your videos not only are wonderfully explained, but they are so easy to understand and most importantly, they're enjoyable too! It's been so easy to have good marks on my exams thanks to these videos, and when I'm on practice it's so easy to understand how the human body works and the reasons behind it. Again, thanks a lot for your help....A very grateful student.

this might be a silly question but here it goes anyway. oxytocin is only needed by females, does this mean that men's posterior lobe doesn't produce any oxytocin? Again thanks so much for your help. You have an unique talent for teaching.
Men produce oxytocin just as women do, but in smaller amounts. In women, oxytocin drives labour via a positive feedback loop whilst also facilitating lactation. In both sexes it has a role to play in feelings of affection, hence why it is sometimes referred to as the "love hormone". Just for your information, a positive feedback loop is essentially where a hormone will ramp up it's desired effect without inhibition from another hormone. In the case of oxytocin, when the unborn baby begins pushing against the uterus, stretch receptors propagate action potentials to the hypothalamus which stimulates the release of oxytocin via the posterior pituitary. Oxytocin causes the smooth muscle within the uterus to contract which pushes the unborn baby further down the birth canal. This leads to more frequent action potentials to the hypothalamus which subsequently results in more oxytocin release. As you can see it is an unbreakable loop because the more the baby progresses the more oxytocin is released. There's no inhibition from another hormone, the only way to break the positive feedback loop is for the baby to be delivered. Once it has been the stretch receptors wind down their action potential propagation and thus oxytocin release falls.
So, at 8:58, if a receptor site for a hormone (like a steroid) is *inside* a cell (rather than outside), that means that those kind of hormones will *enter* some/most/all cells, but (supposedly/hopefully) *not* have their intended effect?
Hi Dr John, an excellent lecture once again! I've a question regarding " testosterone in males and females". I believe the amount of 'testosterone' a male produces is 6-8 mg per day and the amount of 'testosterone' a female produces is 0.5 mg per day? My question is does the 'testosterone' in which the female produces have any effect on the stimulation of the growth of the cartilage at the Epiphyseal plate as it does in males? Thank You.
Greetings...great video...Here's my situation...back in April I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding...there was no shortness of breath, just the heart pounding...and since I have a racing mind, all that extra blood being pumped, drives me towards anxiety and then I can't sleep...I am 57 and this had never happened to me before...the first instance lasted about 4-5 days and it was pretty severe...then disappeared just as it appeared! I was fine for 3-4 days, then it came back...it has been like this since April 17th, although, as of lately, it seems like the intensity of the condition has either gone down or my body is getting used to it or has learned to cope with it...the condition just comes and goes... sometimes, when just laying down, I can feel my whole body jerk and immediately after that, I feel a rush flowing through my entire body and 2-3 seconds later, the heart starts pounding...it's almost like an adrenaline rush because my hands get a bit shaky and so do my legs...it is very annoying and I am begging to get worried that my Endocrine System is failing...what's your take?....and I know you can't offer medical advice, but I have no medical insurance and certainly cannot afford health care...I do appreciate your input. Thank you and have a blessed day.
