    Wonderful, John. As a somewhat "mature" student of 61 years, I'm doing an introductory paper in Applied Health Sciences and normal function (just because I can as a semi-retiree). I've purchased your Campbell's Notes on physiology and pathophysiology that accompany this TH-cam series - very easy to read, totally affordable and a great asset to learning. this is a free plug.
    And to other students, no - I'm not getting paid to say this!

      Thank you for mentioning this.. I tried to find on Amazon (my default..) & used the UK link for it in the description but couldn’t find where to get these notes? Please do tell.. thanks ;)

    Dr. Campbell, you've become the perfect supplement to my A & P class. The way you simplify, slow down, and repeat information has really helped me understand and review my course material. Thank you!

    The kidneys are behind peritoneal membrane. (Retroperitoneal).
    Major blood vessels:
    Abdominal aorta: branches off into left and right renal arteries that supply kidneys.
    Inferior cena cava: carries blood back up towards the right atrium of the heart.
    Urine is produced in the kidneys.
    Peristaltic activity transports the urine from the kidneys to the ureters
    Ureters go behind the bladder and drain into urinary bladder trigone.
    Renal capsule: it is a dense connective tissue containing fibrous proteins. Has a lot of nociceptors. Very sensitive to pain.
    Around renal capsule, there is an adipose capsule made of perirenal fat. Then, we have the renal fascia.

    I would like to introduce my thinking on our renal health here...to be examined by experts in this field...I will keep it short. The kidneys do more than refresh blood. They extract and filter pure lymph fluid which is passed to and stored in the bladder ready for healthy lymphatic use. As soon as this fluid becomes contaminated we have to drain the bladder but as soon as drainage is complete, a pure aqueous fluid is processed which turns our pelvis and its organs into a wonderful lymphatic zone of health and repair.

      Hello Pei, No, the vertebral column is too dense and bony. You can feel it from the front, but not the back.

    great explaination dr. if nociceptors are more in renal capsule why get the calculi pain when it is in somewhere else like uretar, ?

    • @Campbellteaching
      @Campbellteaching  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because there are nociceptors in smooth muscle as well, and the utterer is made of layers of smooth muscle.

    • @dr.yuvarajanpalanisamy9805
      @dr.yuvarajanpalanisamy9805 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you sir adding to your statement why there is imminent untolerable pain compare to other pains like stomach ,fever,head ache. for the truth while i was suffering from stone pain i was rolling in the ground and vomiting unable to be in position to think about

    In a few years people will prefer to attend TH-cam lectures than paying £9,250 a year only for lecturers to read off PowerPoint for 2 hours and expects you to learn

    • @Campbellteaching
