Hello Anthony, I'm watching ur older live St. Brigid, My cousin in Boyle told me about St, Brigid, Unfortunately growing up in NYC am Irish decent, working on my Dual Citizenship. I was brought up by my Irish Nana, Pop from Letrium Grandpa and Grandma from Roscommon. Wish I was prevy to my heritage, St. Bridid. But at 61 I am so drawn to her. Thank you for all you do and saving our heritage, culture, it's so lovely Eileen in NH up by Canadian Border. Coming up on Nov 7 2023. I believe this is the real winter change. 👀💚💯🍀🇮🇪💚

Memorizing poetry is such a good way to preserve heritage through the oral tradition. Also, as a poet, I find that the more I listen to and read poetry, the more likely I am to write poetry. But memorizing poetry, even today, is useful for understanding the rhythm and the structure of the poem.

Thank you for naming the misogyny outright!! It's heartening to hear a man publicly point to the patriarchal bits directly and name them as such, instead of taking the easy way to avoid the tension and letting it stay normal. Very much appreciated 🍻

Go halainn! Brilliant episode! Brigid is one of the most fascinating historical figures, religious figures, and divinities in all the wold's history! Thank you so much for focusing on this extraordinary being! To me she will always be a goddess, and not a "goddess of past peoples in past times." but a vibrant, living goddess, present and powerful in our times as much as ever. Wonderfully, she means many things to many people, and I love the way her magical nature transcends religious differences, bringing Catholics and Pagans together... Lovely!

Naomy, I absolutely agree with you, Brighd trancends religious difference. Who has the blessing to know Her, can know Her magical way. She is the Wisdom, Healing,, prophecy and much anymore. I have been totally devoted Her. May Our Goddess Brigd bless us so much, dear Naomi. And sorry for my not good English.

I would love to see a podcast on St. Hildegard of Bingen - I first learned about her at Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison, WI. St. Hildegard of Bingen is a poet and theologian, with a spiritual connection to the environment.

Wonder if there is any connection to goddess Brigid and the Green Tara of the himalaya, which is the main divine feminine there, and also Tara is based also on an actual woman .. she was apparently a very kind and highly realised woman in ancient times, the sexist monks/ men of her time told her now she must now aspire to be born a man to get enlightened (woman in tibetan still translates as inferior birth despite all the knowledge that women actually have a better natural inclination to get enlightened). She then swore to only ever incarnate as a woman to show women it can be done. There are apparently many 'emanations' of Tara at the moment (and many born in the West going back to help the himalayan yoginis and nuns who were nearly wiped out up to 20 years ago), which is diff to a direct incarnation ie yangsi. For the past couple of years the Dalai Lama and many other Masters have been doing a LOT of prayers and offerings to Tara, and telling everyone to, particularly re covid. Generally she helps with obstacles, is compassionate activity, mother of the buddhas. In himalayan monasteries, the monks come together to pray to her 1-2 hours each morning, which is wonderful, but many are still quite sexist too! The Tuatha are supposedly mentioned in ancient indian texts/ sutras.. The Dalai lama has an ancient painting that is of a reddish haired woman who will become important in these times... they have been looking out for her, including many false alarms. Then there is the cia/ secret society types who have been obsessed with people who have visions of hathor and her cow (or Brigid?)..

Excuse me, I thought that St. Brigid's Day was February 2nd, the cross-equinox between the Winter Soltice and the Summer Soltice. Perhaps, that cross-equinox occurs in Ireland on February 1st, and not on February 2nd.

I think that there are many feminists who love men, and there are men who are feminists. You can be a feminist and heterosexual. It's not contadictory. This isn't the 1970s - you don't to be a lesbian to be a feminist. And feminists have come a long way since the late 60s and early 70s. They are much more aware of the intersections of the race and gender. Most feminists also acknowledge the importance of women's work in the home. Feminists want women's work in the home to valued, either through higher pay, or through adequate social security for women after divorce or after becoming widows.
