Ireland is so interesting for the obvious clashes of christianity and history/ mysticism, and amazing that they saved as little mysticism and true spirituality as they have, perhaps also assisted by geography (like in the himalayas). Christianity has been so successful in eliminating, distorting and portraying mysticism and women as negative with words like 'occult' or 'pagan'. I worked years for high himalayan masters where the paranormal and so called 'miracles' were just every day, but also well understood in terms of cause and effect, ethics, purity. Monks across the himalaya/ Tibet/ India also all prayed each morning to the divine feminine of Tara for 1-2 hours, together (of course sexism is still rampant in this degenerate age). They didn't really have 'myths' or' fiction' up there, things were either true or not. Siddhis or so called superpowers are real (and I am a scientist and ex med student). They would say why have fictional works, when ultimately all life is a fiction. It's interesting that scientist Dr Dean Radin did research on psychics around the world, and tested them. He found that most true psychics are women, and most were from non christian cultures. The idea being that christianity has very 'successfully' wiped out true spirituality, and killed off the mystic bloodlines/ women. It's interesting now watching mostly white men say they are 'discovering' things like the paranormal, nde's, ufology, when many women and brown skinned people have always known about and experienced these things, but been persecuted for speaking out or living it, or killed... the brown skinned and women say 'oh the white people are finally waking up'.
