    If someone there is considering buying a Prizm Ruby polarized, just do it. These lenses are awesome. Green colors are punching and beautiful, especially in the spring. I've been visiting some beaches during summer, look at the water and you'll see literally hundreds shades of blue. There's even benefit of wearing these during cloudy and rainy days, as they will bring some colors to pop a little bit more, they will help you if you're driving in such conditions. And let me tell you something, world looks kind of 'meh' when I'm not wearing ruby's.

    The Prizm lenses were absolutely a HUGE upgrade for Oakley. The contrast and detail is amazing. People ask why would you pay so much for sunglasses. Because Oakley has something like 200 patents involving sunglasses lenses, and it shows.
    The old iridium lenses were aesthetically beautiful, but suffered from some base lens colors that tinted everything in an odd way.
    If you haven't upgraded to Prizm lenses yet, you're missing out!

    These are great lenses in prizm polarized. Comfortable, grippy, colors pop out, can see through water, dashboard reflection is minimal to non-existent.
    Only complaint is the color red gets filtered out (looks like a dull red) and the color green gets enhanced (grass fields and trees look amazing). This is NOT IDEAL FOR DRIVING! I ran a red light two times when I first started using it. Of course, after a month I got used to it, but man it was scary. The traffic light changed from green to red in front of me and I didn't notice it.

  • @JustJessee
    @JustJessee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    I keep watching these reviews and every single time I am left disappointed that there's no presentation of how the lens actually looks like for the wearer. I can see how "cool" it looks like on someone's face, that's apparent from just looking at the glasses. What I want, as someone seeking out information and a review on the lens is "how does this lens make the world look like while wearing them" and there's nothing in these reviews that helps me. :(
    Have a standard place you can walk outside of your studio, so that its the same setting for a baseline, then put the lens over the camera. Do this for EVERY lens you review, have a comparison available for all the gray/bronze/tungsten/prism/polarize/etc so that people can see what it actually means when you say 'it creates contrast' or 'separation of colors' and 'lets in 17% light'.
    Please, please, please. I don't have the ability to go to a store and try on each pair of lenses because the 3 Oakley resellers around here carry the same limited amount of lenses. I don't want to order pairs online, have them shipped, try them on for 5 minutes only to find 'wow...this isn't what I was looking for at all'. I'm looking for some sort of comparison of all the lenses available in the Holbrook line up, but at least seeing the lenses on any frame would help me narrow things down. I've been wearing some Flack 2.0 with Prizm Golf for about 2 years now, love them, but was wanting to see how other similar lenses compare in color saturation (love it), contrast (love it), and just making things brighter while limiting the glare (need it, but can't have it Polarized since I'm one of those lucky few who get an INSTANT sensation of vertigo. laaaaaaaame)
    I love that you feature all these frames and lenses, but it's sort of like reviewing clothes by just showing the viewer what they look like on the rack.

      Hi there! Thanks so much for your valuable feedback. In the past we had tried putting PRIZM lens pucks over the camera filter but the result was not as true to actually wearing the lens yourself. With that being said we will try to figure out a way we can produce lens videos that will give you a truer idea of how the lens will work for you. In the meantime you can always call or live chat with our certified opticians to determine which lens is best for your needs: www.sportrx.com/contact

    Prizm ruby is definitely my favorite right now. Have them polarized in my split shots and non polar in my flak 2.0 xls. I was always a fan of the old fire iridium lenses and this is as close as it gets. But definitely superior to the fire iridium the way certain colors pop. Wanting to try prizm sapphire next.

    Hi guys!! Great vid!! Just one thing that i'm not getting, the color (ruby, tungsten, 24k, etc) is just the color of the mirror or afects the dynamic range of the lens? I mean there's two types in the everyday line up grey and bronze? And the rest is more like a esthethics thing or every color gives you a complete different visual other than darkness (light that let it through)?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nicolas! Great question! It is bit of a combination of the two but mainly aesthetics. The grey base will let less light through and the bronze will give slightly better contrast. You can see a full PRIZM Everyday chart breakdown here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-everyday-lens-technology/ Hope this helps!

    Hi, I am puzzled between Prizm 24k and Prizm Ruby. I need them for mountain biking in high mountain areas with lots of bright light, however when entering the trails there would also be some shade so I am a bit unsure whether Prizm 24k would maybe be too dark for that? I do have lenses for trail conditions but they are too bright for when in high mountain environment. Please can you give me some suggestions? Thank you!

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nikki! I think a non-polarized Prizm Ruby lens would be a suitable option, especially in very bright conditions, but i'd also recommend the Prizm Field lens for it's lower VLT percentage without sacrificing contrast specifically for your described environment. It should provide enough relief for brighter conditions without impeding on one's ability to identify changes in terrain when moving in and out of tree lines with sparse canopy sections. Hope this helps!

      Hi Michael! Thanks for checking out our video! That is a great question! You are totally on the right track with PRIZM Ruby since it has a bronze base for more contrast. The other PRIZM Everyday options with a bronze base are Tungsten, Rose Gold, and Grey but you can also see the grey base options here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-prescription-lenses/ One thing to note, the grey base won't have as much contrast as a bronze base lens BUT it will be a bit darker. Would these be the best for tennis in clay courts? Thanks!

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Luciano! For the best contrast enhancement on clay courts, choose a lens with a rose copper or amber base tint. This will help distinguish and separate colors making it easier to track the ball in flight. The Prizm Ruby's bronze base should perform decently well, especially in a well-lit environment, but stay away from the polarized option for this lens as it can affect depth perception. Also check out the Prizm Field OR SportRx's Sunset Lens that Transitions from Light to Dark Rose Copper with a Subtle Red Mirror. Generally speaking a polarized lens is ideal for driving but some people prefer a non-polarized lens option. I'd say these would function well as a driving lens if you don't go with the polarization.

    After much research I decided to get a pair of FLAK® 2.0 XL BLACK CAMO with these PRIZM RUBY lens. I wanted something to use everyday and also Paragliding in different light conditions so the 17% light transmission was a good compromise. Did not want Polarized as it makes digital instruments hard to read. Also I am hoping the Bronze base will be good for flying. Sort of hard to find much information on flying sports as it's not as big as all the other sports you cover.
