    @SportRx you guys are absolutely correct!! 20+ years I was among the last gen of lab workers at a Luxottic store where we still carefully handmade lenses from raw blanks on massive 50’s equipment, so I learned heaps!!
    Most polarized lenses are made so sloppy it’s disgusting. Oakley actually does take care to make their polarization precise & be of benefit to the wearer. Half the companies out there just throw it on as an afterthought and it actually does nothing beneficial.

    I’m so happy to see you’re still answering questions on this video.
    For a week or so I have been tossing up between Oakley Latch Prizm Black Iridium and Prizm Black Iridium Polarized.
    I live in Australia and the sunnies will be for general day to day use such as driving and walking in mostly sunny or overcast weather. I will also be playing golf casually but nothing competitive.
    To me, the only time I feel like I would say “wow” with Prizm Polarized is near the water (and maybe clouds?). I will be travelling to Europe which will involve tours near water but I am not a fisherman nor spend much time on the water generally.
    So what would you recommend out of these two? I’ve seen varied suggestions when driving as it reduces glare but may not show oil spills etc.
    I feel as though there is a stigma that if you don’t have polarised sunglasses then your glasses aren’t great. So I am wondering if I would be disadvantaged in anyway other than glare reduction if I opt for Prizm Iridium Black Oakley Latch over the Polarized counterpart?
    Thankyou!!

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there! Considering the fact that you're not near or operating on water coupled with golf play, I think the non-polarized option will better suit you as your everyday drivers. Polarization can affect depth perception and the ability to accurately track the ball in flight and may make it difficult to read digital screen displays. The obvious benefit, as you mentioned, has to do with glare reduction, but since you wouldn't regularly experience the benefits of such, the non-polar is the better choice. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching!

I wear prizm p holbooks when I'm fishing or out on my kayak, and they work great to get rid of that glare and prevent the migraines I'm so used to getting when out on the water for hours on end. However I never realized why it'd be good to have non-polaroized glasses on hand for some of my other hobbies. So I appreciate the info, thanks guys keep up the informative content

    I have used one pare of Radar EV prizm polarized for 7 years now and its absolutely stunning love it
    unfortunetly i ruined it just few days ago by leaving it wet after cleaning with chemically not clean water (tap water in Georgia ) so coating got "eaten" off on same places, have to replace lenze, one cool feature is that you actualy can only buy replacement parts such as lens itself and all rubber parts that gets soft time to time. so thank you Oakley for providing cut edge technologies for everyday use keep going!

    Going for a SMILE surgery next week and went to my optician store today to get my current vision checked to make sure it has been stable for a few years (luckily it has been very stable, just changes within margin of error).
    Figured I needed a new pair of sunglasses, both right after the surgery and in general. Wanted some high quality ones that will last for many, many years.
    Took me like 2 hours to pick a pair and by chance oakley was the only one that had a pair that fit me really well, looked good on me and felt very solid, the only other options had annoying pink or other headache inducing colors, I only wanted brown or gray/black. Well, had more options but I aimed only for the glasses they marked as ”last chance” options they were stopping sale of in their store, so I got a showcase pair that usually cost 300 euro for the price of 170 euro.
    They were coincidentally a pair of prizm black polarized.
    I didn’t even know what that meant, but after watching these videos, I realize I were lucky enough to make an optimal choice. I want to use my glasses for everything. Seems the black ones are relatively neutral in use cases, which fits me. Prizm seems great overall.
    The only thing I’m not sure about is them being polarized. I like to ride my bike around, but honestly I probably won’t ever go around mountain biking in dangerous terrain, so it’s fine if they’re a bit darker there. I also like fishing a lot, I know well how annoying the glare can be from the water in sunlight. Then for car use too. For walks, either should be good even if I would probably prefer them to be slightly brighter in those cases.
    So, overall, the black prizm polarized seems like a great ”general use” pair for everything. I also won’t look like as someone who wants to be cool going around with single lens rainbow lenses, although I do admit I was drawn to them and tried all those options too before admitting I looked like a moron and those types of glasses just don’t fit me.
    Lucky to have chosen a good pair for a long time of use.
    Was slightly concerned about the prizm P etched into the lens, thought it was because it was a showpiece, but seems they just have that just to show authenticity.
    Now really looking forward to my eye surgery next week, I hope it goes well and I can wear these new sunglasses to my next boat fishing trip.
    Thanks for the great video.

    • @SvenskaIdioterna
      @SvenskaIdioterna 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oh, and I’m also looking forward to how things actually look with the glasses on, can’t really get a grasp on contrast and clarity when I have myopia that makes everything fuzzy and astigmatism that makes anything I look at lack clarity, things just kind of blend outwards, like someone copy pastes stuff and misaligns it slightly over the original while lowering opacity. The astigmatism is honestly the worst part, it just makes everything unclear instead of fuzzy and it’s headache inducing.

    You may want to add that polarized lenses are for example in cockpits and in most modern cars dangerous to wear as you cannot see information depicted on the displays. In fact - some aircraft manufactures as for the AW139 stipulates "Polarized lenses prohibited" ...just FYI

    Have you done comparative tests between polarized and non-polarized lenses to determine the magnification differences between the two types? And have you tested nonpolarized lenses to determine that they have no magnification that would affect depth perception? I realized recently that my sunglasses, which are polarized, were creating a depth perception issue that hinders my ability to improve in my sport, so now I'm looking for a solution. I happen to love wearing "rose-tinted" glasses because they just make everything better most of the time.

      That is a great question! For areas surrounding water on sunnier days, polarization is a must! But when the clouds roll in, you may find a benefit with non-polarized lenses with a higher VLT. Check out San Diego's own #paraglidingpixie aka Milly, who we had a chance to make a pair of paragliding glasses for. And can attest to the benefits of prescription polarized lenses for use along the coast! And thanks for watching!

    Are prizm lenses okay for pilots. If so which Oakley glasses offer the prizm lenses without polarization. I’m aware that pilots can’t use polarized glasses due to the interference it has on flight instruments. I was wondering if this same restriction applies to prizm lenses with non polarization.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! No, Non-Polarized Prizm lenses do not have the same restrictions for pilots. Polarization can interfere with a pilot's ability to view and interpret instrumentation in the cockpit. Any Prizm lens with polarization will be noted in the name (i.e. Prizm Black Polarized).

    How can Prism Road not be available in Polarized option? Road glare off shiny roads is one of the worst things in sunny climates. Cutting out road glare with polarization makes a huge difference. I'm skeptical about tweaking color spectrum with prism being able to match or better that. The video didn't address this. Please convince me a blinding shiny road will look better through prism than through an amber tinted polarized lens.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! You bring up a great point! You are correct that a polarized lens is necessary for glare protection. However, PRIZM Road is not polarized because being able to spot the glare off water patches or oil slicks will help you to react quicker on your bike. PRIZM contrast makes everything in your environment pop with detail so you can see every little detail on the road. All Oakley lenses are 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC protected. Oakley just recently introduced a PRIZM Road Black lens that is more ideal for sunny environments because it is a darker tint but still made for the road environment. Hope this clears things up for you! You can leanr more about PRIZM Sport here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-sport-lens-technology/
