    The original Khmer are dark skinned, that doesn’t mean they from Africa. Dark skinned looking asian, Yes! we do have nappy and curly hair. Yes! we use to braid our hair too back in the days. People in Cambodia now is all mix. Especially with Chinese due to a lot of them Migrating in. That’s why a lot of them are light skinned now. South East Asian people are naturally dark skinned. Just because he said Black doesn’t mean Africa. It’s just mean he’s dark. Don’t get it twisted. Am Cambodian and am dark skinned, as a kid I’ve always have nappy curly hair, as I grew up it went away. I do not know why.. LOL

      Let the world know bro. Even todays Cambodians don’t want to recognize Khmers origins. Dark skin, well built, curly, wavy or nappy afro looking hair. Especially the light skin sino-khmers. They will deny anything that you just mentioned. Even tell people that Khmers are dark because they work outside 😂. Ain’t this sad? Cambodia is becoming pro Sino. Deleting any evidence of a true Khmer. Just watch their TV and Music VDOs. No signs of dark skin folks.

      You act like... just because your dark skinned your black... just because you have wooly hair your black...I’ve seen dark skinned Chinese before ...does that mean there black? just because some one Describe him as black. I,ve seen a lot of dark skinned people in India with wooly hair.. does that mean they black ? Every culture Practice voodoo even India. Does that mean they black? Come on man.... ! Really ...! You need to learn more about other cultures. We are all similar in many ways... just because we use the term black as dark skinned doesn’t mean it automatically that kind of black. So if the guy say they are light skinned, does that mean they are white? 😂

    Mon mean "first or before" They were Austronesian. They migrated from south of China just slightly before the Khmer over 2,000 years ago. Khmer migrated from east of Asia. Maybe as far as western India. Note the term "Kambuja", a tribe of western Indian descents. Khmer and Mon intermixed, thus Mon-Khmer or Khmer-Mon were the race that dominated mainland southeast Asia. Mon people mostly settled at south and southeast Myanmar and small population northeastern Thailand.

    It's very normal for south East Asians to have dark skin, most us do. And this guy must be describing the South Indians also, the South Indians are dark, have curly hair and south east Asia were influenced by Hinduism. And look at the script on these part of South East Asia, it's similar to South Indian scripts. Africans aren't the only ones who have dark skin , likewise Europeans aren't the only ones who have pale skin . Proud Asian here ...proud that we have different types of nose structure, can be hairy or almost hairless, different shades of skin colour etc.
    And anyway, I think all human race are all related to each other.

    Keyword; curly hair not nappy or African-textured. My dad is fairly dark and has naturally curly hair. I am not sure they’re actually African. There are many dark skin Asians. Maybe this is due to the theory that humans originated from Africa. But it’s hard to say, the dark skin may be just an evolution for Asians that live in hotter jungle climates; such as Cambodia. Overall, there is no empirical evidence that says dark skin asians have any correlation to Africa, besides the fact that there’s a specific tribe in Africa that have asiatic eyes, that is the only correlation I can think of.

    • @Handle_Edit
      @Handle_Edit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      6OLD No bro, if you live in a wet jungle environment, you will develop a straighter hair hence why most Cambodians start to lose the kinks and develop tight curls or wavy hair back in the days. But if you take it further into the past. They may just have kinky nappy afros but mixing with straight haired people will accelerate the process. If you’re Khmer you don’t need to explain what Khmers look like. But you do know that Khmers are a mixture of many different looking people for thousands of years now. Put it this way, if you stick a dark skin Khmer in a group with a bunch of Chin, it wouldn’t be hard to pick him out. He would stick out like an eye sore. You want to know what Khmers used to look like? Look up Papua.

    The Mon Khmer were Asians with dark skin tones in Cambodia, similar to Hindus and Tamils (but not Africans). A former name for Khmer was Khmao (black). The majority of authentic Khmers have Indian, Tamil, or Hindu ancestry. Although some Indians have black skin and curly hair, you can tell they are not from Africa when you look at their faces.
    The guide is not even Khmer, but either Chinese or Vietnamese. I've seen that a large percentage of devout African Americans hold the view that all prehistoric societies with dark complexion appearances were originally from Africa. There are even black Chinese. SMH

However I think people tend to like to ascribe to the theory's opposition because they don't like the idea of origin being dark and not because of the debate and genuine curiosity. It's a big assumption to make but I notice people actively try to find proof against it whether they're academics or not, and ignore anything that supports the idea. It's confirmation bias.

More so, Negrito features. Mongoloids came later and intermixed with the native dark-skinned people of Southeast Asia. If you could go back in time 1,000 years and were to expect seeing present-day S.E. Asian features or maybe slightly different than today's, you'd be surprised in finding dark-ass people. +Henry Lim I looked at some old photos and video footage of Cambodian people during the early twentieth century, and I have to disagree with your belief that they somehow "looked more black" back then. Perhaps you see them that way, but when I look at them, I see a people with unmistakable Asiatic features, facial structures, and an overall Asiatic appearance. The only real factor that might make them "look black" is their dark skin, but even then, this perception only happens at first glance and disappears within a second or two. For me, their dark complexion alone simply isn't enough to give them an overall "black" appearance. I still perceive them to be what I would consider "Asian" or "Mongoloid" in appearance.
      I hold the same perception with regard to the ancient Cambodian people of Angkor. When I look at ancient Apsara carvings depicted on temple walls, I see "Oriental-looking" women, not "African-looking" women. Perhaps Cambodians had darker skin tones back then, but in terms of facial shape and structure, the Apsara carvings look EXACTLY the same as the Apsara dancers you see in Cambodia today -- thin monolid eyes, small nose, round face, slender body, and beautiful smile.
      I see the same "Asian look" for the men of Angkor, as well. When I look at the crouching statues of Angkor Thom, for example, I cannot help but liken their faces to those of the Terracotta statues in China or to the Samurai from traditional paintings in Japan. In fact, I've actually CONFUSED the Angkor Thom statues for those of the Terracotta army, having once believed they were one and the same!

    Too much misinformation. Mon Khmer are a mongoloid people that migrated into Southeast Asia from the Yunnan/northern Laos area and were part of the bai culture.They actually displaced the negrito/Austronesian/Australoid peoples that were there before them hence the argument of Khmer Chenla replacing Funan around 600ad. Khmers seem to misunderstand or purposefully embrace the identity of original Khmer as being dark skinned and curly as a legitimizing device to the land, similar to how white Americans claim to be native Americans.

Yes the Original Khmers Mon, they were big build and has a dark skin tune with curlies hairs but not black skin. So there were Chinese and Indian were around with the Khmer Mon.
    MON-KHMER(MON)=KHARM=KHMER=KHMAMARAK=CHAMPUCHEA: NOW KHMER(CAMBODIAN)
    there were no siam no Vietnam no Laos. Only Champa and Burma are neighbor to Khmer. So siam were from China and were chased out by the Mongols so the Anam/ Vietnam were chased out by the Chinese to one of the Island and they stated to invaded the Champa nation. The main enemies to Khmers were Vietnam and Thailand until today. Khmer was a nation full of joy and trustworthy also a very respectful-friendly nation with lots of smiles. If you ask Thai and Vietnam were are they came from, they're not going to tell the trust where they came from, ONLY KHMERS KNEW the answers.

"Seeing is believing". For example. We never seen Jesus walk on water, but many believe it. And I'm positive that nobody would buy anything they have never seen. So therefore we can't prove that all people come from Africa. Or history books are correct. It's time the people stop living blindly.

    You're misinterpreting what the Asian man is saying. The man is Chinese, not Khmer. The Khmer language derived from Sanskrit which is a Hindu language of India. He said the Khmer are dark skin doesn't mean they are black. Khmer are known as the dark-skinned Asians. Don't you dare try to misconstrue his words he never said they look African! This highly offensive. If Khmer were African, how come no one in Africa speaks Khmer?! I did my 23 and me DNA testing and it says I am Khmer and I have no African and no European in me! If DNA testing states that Khmer do not have any DNA of Africans, then that means alot! Black nationalism needs to stop claiming every culture as theres. Khmer people originated from India, and Indians are considered dark skin too (very dark tan) they are dark(dark tan) bc of the climate, and I have wavy/curly hair too but have no African in me. This video is a joke! There are no ancient temples that look like ours in Africa. Stop claiming lies. Only India and Cambodia have similar language and culture. Mon-Khmer is not a term to describe a race but a linguistic family. Under the Mon-Khmer branch of Austro-Asiatic languages, Khmer language is included. Mon is spoken in Burma by a people group known as the Mon. Mon-Khmer languages are found in Vietnam, Thailand, Yunnan Province (China), Myanmar, other Southeast Asian countries and Meghalaya state in Northeast India. My language, Khasi, spoken by our ethnic community, the Khasis, living in Meghalaya, is part of the Mon-Khmer group of languages.

    Do understand that Negritos were the earliest people to arrive in southeast Asia. Some argued that Austronesian were the first. I think these 2 groups came at different times at different point of entry. Negritos were African descents. They mostly live as hunters and gather in the basic primitive lifestyle, while the later arrival such as Khmer(Kambuja) and Mon built civilizations. Mon and Khmer became one race, which are Mon-Khmer. During the Khmer Empire and earlier, many Negritos, especially from the Sayam tribe were hired do heavy labor works, such as building roads, dikes, temples and as fighters or warriors. After a few generations, they assimilated and became Khmer. This may explains why Khmer or Cambodian have dark complexion and of course, curly hair as well.

  • @Hi-Five-Ghost
    @Hi-Five-Ghost 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For anyone who is confused… “real” Cambodians are dark like Indians, look up “Buakaw” he’s a Thai boxer who was born on the Cambodian/ Thai border. He’s built like a warrior and very dark. He was born on the Thai side, but remember Cambodia used to be an empire that ruled over Thailand and other south East Asian nations.
    So Thailand and Laos are just poor copies of Cambodia
    Also remember China mixed/ influenced almost every Asian nation both South East and East…
    That’s mostly where the original Thais came from southern China. They mixed with mon Khmer…
    Remember Thailand used to be called Siam, but they copied Cambodia/ Khmer - pronunciation = “Khmai” but whites people wrote it as “Khmer”
    But to clarify, original Cambodians are dark and more muscular than your typical East Asian. Just like Buakaw…
    No they weren’t “Black/ African” I know this because I am Cambodian, my father was dark af, my mother has Chinese blood. This is the norm in Cambodia, lots of mixing with China…
    But no we were NEVER black. Possibly Indian, because they influenced our religion tremendously, but that’s about it. It makes the most sense why Khmer/ Cambodians can be so dark.

    • @Handle_Edit
      @Handle_Edit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Khmer people are not mixed with “Indians”. Ancestors of the Khmer migrated out of South Asia and settled in Southeast Asia between 40-60 thousand years ago. DNA traced this. These people would’ve looked very similar to Islanders of the Pacific. Dark skinned, tight curls, blonde streaks also. Then come the Ancestors of “Austronesian” who migrated out of China, who were lighter in appearance. They mix culturally, linguistically and so forth. Khmer people need to stop comparing themselves to them “Mongloid” of the north. Just because the “White” man called everyone Asian. Just like how they name the continent of Africa and so forth. These are geopolitical terms and have nothing to do with how a person look. Everyone in this World are all brainwashed by Colonialism. Except for the Andaman people 😂

    The Khmer were an Australo-Melanesian people, similar to those living in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands etc. People from South Asia (from Eastern India or Southern India) later established trade in southeast which went on for centuries which is seen in their clothing, religious practices, language and culture even ancestry! There would obviously have been migration and intermarriage between the two. So the empire was actually and Indo-Melanesian empire. Then later, the Chinese arrived from southern China and Taiwan and they got absorbed into the Indo-Melanesian population and then they the ‘mongoloids’, would become the majority in Khmer lands like it is today. Even dna confirms that most of all southeast Asians whether Austro-asiatic or austronesian descend from haplogroups O1/02/03 etc which is from China- haplogroup O. However, M haplogroup of south Asians are common also only in current Austro-Asiatic speaking people in Southeast Asia and some tribal indigenous people like Papua, negritos even aboriginal Australians. The indigenous people of Southeast Asia are Papua-looking Melanesian people and then Indic people arrived. So Mongoloids from China arrived last but are now the majority in Southeast Asia.

    • @Midnight-og3rk
      @Midnight-og3rk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Fulani pride of Africa no they were not Mongoloid. They look nothing like them😂 they were however replaced by Mongoloids if that’s what you mean. The ancient people that inhabited that region are not the same as the current people. Yes they are all Mongoloids today, but that’s not how it started off. The Chinese intermarried with the Indians and Melanesians that inhabited that area. Which is confirmed in dna and the ancient Sanskrit writing and culture which is all Indian. If you look at some Cambodians, they look the most distinct from others around them, some of them anyway. And that’s because some of them get Indian and Papua in their dna unlike the others who are just full Mongoloid. Again this reflects how Mongoloids replaced them so you’re right about that. But it did not start or as Mongoloid, is what I’m saying. And ‘austro-asiatic’ is a language. This modern day language is currently highly influenced by Chinese, but it was previously a distinct language which had more Dravidian/ Sanskrit in it which many Melanesian/ Papua people have in their language from this day. There is a lot of evidence to prove this but you’re just going by the more recent artefacts of Khmer. Would you say that ancient Egypt was white/cacausian or Arabian in origin? Or was it these people that arrived from outside Egypt who ruled over and replaced the indigenous Egyptians?

      John Kim Khmers were never Hindus. Sanatan Dharma stays in South Asia. Nobody in the past used the terms “Hindu” or “India”. Khmers made contact with the Kalingas of South Asia. Khmer did not get the dark skin tone and tight curly hair from them. The Khmers already got some nappy ass hair in the first place. The Khmers received a unique form of Buddhism with the emphasis of the God-King. Royal linage of Sun and Moon Mahaksatraya. But they really believe in the Naga-Goddess within all that additional religious/royal aspect. The base culture is Matriarchal and linage. This is why Kings must trace the bloodline to the Queen. Kings still speak as if they are Queens in the Royal language. You guys must study your own culture to understand this. It’s in every day aspect of Khmer life.

    There are plenty of Mon and Khmer and other ancient statues throughout SE Asia that definitely have tightly curled hair and thick lips, many of the Buddha as well. To modern eyes, yes, they look African in some respects, but the people at the time, we are talking as early as 500 AD or earlier, were trying to portray an IDEAL image and such features were considered very much like the most honored INDIAN people of the time, geographic people from South Asia at the time, not necessarily like South Asians of TODAY. The Buddha also almost always has LONG EARS which is hardly African or any other race, in South Asian and SE Asian culture, long ears are highly prized and a sign of longevity. One could say they look even like Samoa or other South Pacific peoples and that would make sense because genetic studies show MANY of the peoples of even China and Taiwan and SE Asia and the more southern islands all the way to Easter Island share genetic history. The Mon were in what is TODAY Thailand and are STILL in Burma but were subsumed by Thai by the 1400's. The Khmer dominated geographic Thailand to some extent and were in conflict with the Mon but the Thai at that time were still in Southern China, we're talking 800 AD or so. Much new information is coming out from genetic and linguistic analysis, absolutely fascinating. It is worth noting that Sanskrit, a language from geographic India, had a HUGE influence on Latin and Greek and all European languages, long before Christ.

    Khmer(khmai not khm-air)
    Khmer people are NOT black.
    Black=subsaharan african descent.
    Mainland Southeast Asia was once called “IndoChina” due to the obvious mixture of Chinese and Indian people. The Indian and Chinese mixture is very evident in this area by culture, food, people etc. the Mon Khmer language is spoken not just in Cambodia but in nepal and even eastern India. It’s obvious there’s connection. the Indians who were in the Khmer empire were South Indians called Tamil or just Dravidian ones and they can have dark, basically black skin. Angkor Wat was originally a Hindu temple before Buddha, who was also from the Indian region came along, but they are still genetically different from subsaharan Africans.
    Also factor in that climate can effect skin color. The more close to the equator the darker the skin, normally.
    The curly hair is a South Indian trait as well.
    Flat/wise noses are a Chinese trait in the area

      Mohammed Azeme not necessarily. The first humans were from Africa but Africa doesn’t automatically mean black/subsaharan.
      Similar to how Asia isn’t only Chinese.
      Asia is just a continent and it includes Indians, Arabs, etc other types of people.
      Africa has subsaharan and North Africans. North Africans are genetically closer to west Asians/Arabs.
      The old remains were from Ethiopia which made people think we were all black but were we?
      Recently they found the oldest remains are actuall from Morocco.
      Moroccans are part of North Africa and aren’t really subsaharan so it’s likely that the whole “black” skin or subsaharan was also just an adaption of environment that took years and years but not everyone was black per se. black means, of sub Saharan african descent. By today’s standards that’s what African meant. Now that the oldest remains are from Morocco, it may not be true that we were all black skinned because it’s actually possible black skin was an adaptation not the starting point of humans. Similar to how white skin was an adaptation andnot the starting point

      No. French called the place indochina. France Laos and Cambodia was one colony

    • @queenshad1161
      @queenshad1161 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      6A2P4H no, Indochina= Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and there are maps that labeled the whole area as Indochina.
      LATER ON, the French went that way and colonized the area which is why you hear the “French Indochina” which is the countries of Indochina that France had territories in which would only be vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
      They’re “Indochina” and “French Indochina” are different.

      @@queenshad1161 then there was Cochin China. This was all of the land south of present day Cambodia. Or ancient times lower Chenla. These are all geography terms mostly

      6A2P4H Cochinchina is another way of saying “Indochina”
      Kochi also known as Cochin is a state and once called “kingdom of Cochin” and was the first place in India Europeans colonized.
      So, CochinChina was the name of the French colony that was once part of the Khmer empire until they added “CochinChina” to Vietnam

    Hello Author.
    I have great suggest to you to make a video about " what Buddha may real look like ?"
    my opinion is that real Buddha may look like statue on Temple of "ankowatt" for the two reason.
    1 image of Jesus has been modified from dark skin Jewish to white skin Westerner.
    2 Arian has invaded India around after Buddha time. This may change image of Buddha into Arian race with a questionable of African race hair.
    Thank You
