Another detail to watch for is the checkering of the grips. They look similar, but they are not the same. On originals the diamond is not in line with the pattern that has a slightly different angle. On post war pieces the checkering is more pronounced and comes at a shallower angle that blends in with the diamond.
Another easy to spot red flag is the lip on the throat of the scabbard. Originals never have such thing but it's quite common on fakes.

the diamonds are HJ and I think German Boy scout on the post war knife.

I have recently inherited one. It's diamond has a tad movement. Red speckled with a gold bordered swastika Blade is etched in black (RZM) M7/32 ROB. Muller SOL-Merscheid. Does this sound like it's real? Ty
