the first time I visited Regimentals shop was in 1984, where I met the late Mr. Fisher (Malcom's father).

1:40 ...that’s basically what happened to me. Only after some 25-30 years of collecting. And since the prices also got ridiculous, I just changed my hobby.

Really appreciate the tips and pointers; as a relatively young collector, and newbie at just 5 years of bargain hunting, I truly welcome any direction from established names in the business, and I'm Looking forward to more videos!

Brilliant vid, thanks so much - for a (relative) beginner in the collector arena, it is so hard to ascertain what is and what isn't' kosher. Your advice about finding a reputable dealer and sticking with them is spot on. Thanks again guys - just subscribed!

Great video, although I do have a full polish legion set from a veteran, it is a reproduction of course as it wouldn't last for over 100 years.

I'm a young collector I'm only 14 and I already have a luger, p38, cz27, hsc all with holsters and some German medals and buckles and other stuff. But this video definitely has helped me not get burned.

It is misleading to say that the recipient of the medals fought in North Africa; he does not have the Africa Star and therefore did not qualify for the 1 operational day you had to serve to receive the star. The group has very weak provenance for completely unnamed medals. and one piece of ephemera. If you are going to do a show on millitaria to pass up on, that medal group would be one of them. A few photographs, patches and a book that isn't even his certainly does not constitute provenance.

I've just stumbled across this video & it is brilliant. As a 'newbie' I have found mos Tod the videos to be from the US which is hard to relate to. This really helps, even from the basics of finding a trusted dealer. Keep it up 👍

Great vlog. I'm fairly new to collecting so the information and tips you are giving is just what I need. I'm interested in both world wars mainly and have collected a number of low value but quirky items. Not sure whether I will specialise in a particular area of collecting yet although I'm very interested in anything Army Commando related (FS fighting knives particularly, I have a 3rd pattern post war knife I bought for £50) . My dad was in No. 6 Commando in WW2 hence the interest in this area. Keep up the good work!

I see a British commando patch in the video (triangular black with red dagger on it) and I’ve seen it on a battle dress before but I can’t find ANY period pictures of it on a uniform. I always find commando pictures with the other larger commandos patch.

Hi I'm just beginning to collect these medals I'm trying to restore a few and looking for people to help me figure out if the medals I have are genuine. How do I authentic my medals. I'm new to this, I'm also working with veterans and sharing their stories and their histories.

Most British medals dont get coppied that much, you can judge them by the colour of the metal/copper/brass etc... and of course if the regiment/name/service number is engraved on the side. (Don't know if this is the case with all WW2 medals i only collect WW1.)

Normally , double holes (Döppellocher) should probably be avoided at all costs by novice collectors (to be on the safe side), but they don't always necessarily indicate a fake or "upgraded pickelhaube. Isn't it possible an individual may simply have moved to the Landwehr or switched regiments, and therefore used his existing pickelhaube with a new wappen?

Nothing worse than dealers hoarding items and cornering the market. Avoid purchasing direct from dealers and specialists where possible. Educate yourselves and purchase direct from families, auctions and sales. The bargains are out there and it is entirely possible to buy good quality, authentic items at a reasonable cost. A little investment in reference books and building up connections of like-minded individuals will save you a fortune in the long run.

Are in english speaking countries no collectors organisations? At the in Germany rare weapon collectors events, there are mostly tables/ vitrines from collectors societies. Mostly friendly gentlemen, you can ask about old weapons. This would be good, when collectors organisations would send men to shows, this would scare traders with dubious objects.

14:45 In the future stop selling ivory items. If someone wants to purchase, just give away as a present provided, the interested party obliges himself to give you in turn a certain amount of monetary compensation as a present too. In advance usually.

You wrote your MP and got a "get stuffed" letter...
It's sad to say that you live in a country where the rights of the common citizen are being taken away wholesale.
They had multiple "knife amnesties," as they call them, and now they're even attempting to force private citizens to register paring knives, to have SERIAL NUMBERS put on them.
Is no surprise to me that the MP's only want to make your business illegal.
I have been shocked looking at some of the pictures that they put up of what's collected at these knife amnesties and I would suggest you might want to look the subject up and then talk about what you see in those pictures because you can point out collectible daggers used by American and British soldiers during World War II and World War I as well as other historic blades that were turned in.
Perhaps an appeal to the Crown to preserve history may be a better option for you. Do what we call here in America an "end run" around the the MPs.
Our ban on Ivory here in the United States which was done a couple decades ago is only about new production ivory. Ironically enough that caused the cost of antique ivory items to plummet dramatically. You may wish to have your solicitor contact an American colleague to research our ivory ban which was Federal in nature.
