That makes sense! I’ve taken many international flights (mainly to Asia) but this is the first time I experienced US pre clearance. Thanks for chiming in!
Great review but to tell you about the gates. B-Gates at SFO , 1-3 I think, are swing gates. International flights can arrive there and the passengers walk a sterile corridor over to Immigration. Secondly, Aer Lingus uses the American Airlines lounge which is right around the corner from your flight.
Aer Lingus flights arrive as domestic arrivals not international as passengers clear US pre clearance customs and immigration in dublin so they just walk straight to the baggage hall..
As others have mentioned, flying to the USA direct from Dublin and Shannon, we go through US pre clearance and immigration and arrive as a domestic traveller. Its a great facility to have. As for regional flights, they are mostly within Ireland but some flights to the UK are included with maybe London and Manchester being the exception
To my knowledge a regional aer lingus flight is one which departs and lands in the same country, so the Donegal to Dublin route for example. Which leaves within europe pretty self explanatory. Hope im right, i think i am
They park in domestic terminal because Dublin has US pre clearance. Therefore they re classed as domestic arrival and park in domestic terminal

@@spec_egg yeah. Its great advantage. Pre clearance is only in Dublin and Shannon.
I applaud you for your frugality and stoicism. I've never flown on that long of a flight in anything less than Business class. 😏
Believe me, if I could I would too

I have flown this route over 50 times and only once had to go on the tarmac to board
