Optreden van de schotse band Marillion op het Rock am Ring festival 1985. Met hun grootste hit "Kayleigh" van het album "Misplaced Childhood" Uitgezonden op zondag 26 mei 1985 Bron: Sony Betamax.
I thought the first comment to a song should be about some personal tragedy im which someone usially dies, those things you dont want to associate with your favorite song and dont want to hear about : )
@robertsteinberger5667 my dad was killed while reading your comment. I miss him so much but maybe everyone liking my comment will take the pain away. I'm joking but I'm just glad someone else has got sick of reading bereavement posts
@robertsteinberger5667 maybe we are both arses but personally I find these attempts to acquire sympathy and pity from strangers a bit nauseating. I think it's a characteristic of both the British and the Germans to not make a public display of those types of feelings . Loss is personal. I don't think it should be traded as a commodity on social media.
I can smell the 80s from here. Absolutely love this masterpiece. I just seen an interview given by Fish. Marillion were genuinely on the threshold of fame and fortune. But Fish was seriously unhappy, so much so his health was starting to deteriorate. That's why he walked away. He's in a much better place these days. Happy, making music, although there is rumblings of retirement. But no matter which way his life goes, he's happy, and that's what it's all about.
Met him today and had no idea who he was. He was an absolute gent though and seemed happy enough. Now I keep watching his videos and can't believe I was chatting with him!
Saudações a você.
I saw Marillion with Fish in 1986 or 87 at NYC's the Ritz. Dream Theater with their original singer was the warm up band. I've seen a lot of great bands in my day, but this was my all-time favorite concert. Marillion doesn't have a big following in US then and now so they were the best kept secret. Really wish they broke the US so they could've gotten greater exposure. They are truly a great band.
Many great bands are never heard of in the US because radio in the US would rather play the same few songs from the same few bands over and over and over! Sad really. New music is like a drug to music lovers.Sad that there are no dealers!
@@delimac59 Unless you subscribe to a service like Sirius you won't hear new stuff and even Sirius doesn't have a progressive type channel offering. Sad also that older artists no longer have exposure for their new or recent stuff. Case in point a band like Deep Purple has kept chugging along with decent music. I might be wrong but the internet, touring and youtube is the only way the older artists get exposure.
@@meerkat7406 somewhere over the Covid nightmare, Styx released a new album, “Crash of the Crown” and it is AMAZING! It’s an absolutely FANTASTIC album, yet you almost never hear anything about it. BTW, there are some real flashes of Progressive Rock, especially from Todd Sucherman‘a drums! I wish the music industry would remember that some of the bands that made millions of dollars for them back in the day are still around making GREAT music and there is still a demand for that great music! If anything, most of the 70’s and 80’s fans have a lot more disposable income than we did back in the day!!! 😂
Es gibt bestimmte Songs der 80s, die mir ein überwältigend schmerzhaftes und bittersüßes Gefühl von Nostalgie geben. Dies ist definitiv einer von ihnen...❣️😔
Perfect described, bitter sweet....as much as I absolutely love this song to my soul....why does it hurt like grief to hear it nowadays....I miss then, I miss me.xxxx
Look how f**kin awesome this is !!....The big man....where he should be....front line....before it all got lost....what a beautiful moment....love ya big man xx
Well we can't go back in time to that wonderful warm chilled brilliant and lovely 80s but what you can do is learn from it and trying to get that energy warmth and love with you and bring that to 2023 and so on. But you need for that an incredible amount of courage and strength to make it happen. never stop believing
This was the very first "Rock am Ring" concert-I was there with Foreigner, U2, Rick Springfield, Huey Lewis, Gianna Nannini, Joe Cocker, Saga, Chris de Burgh, REI Speedwaggon, the Alarm... It was fantastic including best weather. 🥰
Do yourself a favor if you live this song; watch the top2000 item where fish tells about his relationship with Kay. It has moved me to tears, beautifull background.
The magic of 80s riffs. They dont make them anymore.....
yes, chords and chord changes nobody / rarely used today.
Mannheim, Maimarktgelände...Ich war dabei ❤
Maybe they just don't make it past the mainstream gates anymore.
39 lat temu a jakby dzisiaj !!! Coś pięknego!!! 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍

Misplaced Childhood was the album that for a long time, warmed my heart on cold winter nights during the 80s. God bless these guys!

Good live!

Bye from the Netherlands
Imagine this people are listening to it as it is a hit new song to them. Not a cult classic as we listen to it now. AMAZING.
Marillion with Fish is unforgettable, our story remains in our memory. Top10 💥
Great song brilliant lyrics
saw them opening in 1984 for simple minds. fantastic.
Wie jung waren wir damals? Jetzt sind wir zusammen alt geworden. Aber die Musik bleibt ewig jung, wie unser Herz!😻
