Chasing Dakar Rally racers across the Desert

- Whilst I was in the UAE for some riding clinics I got the chance to join Mohammed Balooshi, Simon Marcic and Marciej Giezma on a training ride through the desert. It was bloody awesome but I had to really push to keep up. I don't think I've ridden dunes on a 450 since I raced Dakar in 2012!
It was great to follow their lines, the way they read the desert at speed was really impressive.

I keep reading comments which include "relaxing" and "beautiful." Please keep in mind the "fluidness" of this video is due to the high end camera automatically taking out any vibrations or shakes. This guy is taking a beating and should be included in the top athletes of the world. Yes, amazing and beautiful footage I do agree....on top of that the skill and moreover the physical ability to do this level of riding for any length of time, much more across a desert, is completely astonishing. You sir are a goal people should strive for.

Done that route hundreds of times...awesome this time of the year as well.
Beautiful scenery and smooth riding but those blind crests are giving me goose bumps. Interesting, the lines they choose over the lips of the dunes look like surfers riding big waves.
That's the skill to riding in these dunes. It's so hard to read. I just trusted the guys in front to show the way.
This footage is amazing - I recently rode across Australia on a DR650, all kinds of terrain and scenery. It’s bloody hard work hanging on to handlebars and gripping the bike between your legs on sand dunes. I’m working on a film about my trip, (soundtrack is songs I have recorded).
I just held my eyes open for 11 minutes and 4 seconds

I honestly don't know about tyre pressure. I never checked. I would have guessed we were running mousse. No steering damper.

I'm interested if that's the speed you would normally ride or are the guys in front making you ride faster or slower than you would normally ride?
I was pretty happy at this pace. Later on when my gopro battery had already died they turned the pace up and it was all I could do to keep up.
