Bought an rf900r brand new back in 96. Once it was broken in proper I installed a full V&H SS2r exhaust with their race baffle. K&N air box filter. Dynojet kit. Synced carbs. She ran great, sold her in 2000 with around 8k.got married and had kids so I stopped riding. Wish I still had her tho. Just recently bought a Harley now that my kids are older.

adikxx83 , it seems there were different specs for different markets. I recall reading somewhere the top specs were rated at 135 crank hp, 125 @ wheel.

i used the Ivans jet kit and ignition advancer. it really woke the bike up. Beowulf exhaust can, stock intake filter and i change the front sprocket to 14/15/16t depending on mood or advance right hand twitch

My brother in law lost two of his fingers doing the same thing by adding secondary retention whilst chain was still spinning. Need to risk assess that intervention🙏

Dear Mr,please help me. I can see your jet kit for rf900.And I have a dyno kit E3152 for my rf900 E39 suzuki, but I do not know the good setting. Now there is a BOS exhaust and original air filter. Do you know about good performance setting?
Main jet size? Needle position? Pilot screw setting? What is your experience with this kit?Thank you,Szabolcs

hi Nolan, is that a Nitron shock fitted to your rf? if so did you have to space the dogbones, I've just fitted one to my rf had to fit some m12 washers because the dogbone on one side was just touching the spring at the bottom edge. I emailed nitron about it, they said when they tested the shock originaly that their one must have had a lighter spring fitted, so it wouldn't have been as Wide. they said fitting the washers to get clearance is ok. I just wondered if you had a similar problem, the spring on mine is for a 90/95 kg rider. Thank you. Regards
    Steve (alien937 Rfoc)

Yes it is Stephen. yes it is a common mod to space the dog bones out to get clearance past the larger diameter spring.
Hope this helps. Though I've now upgraded to an Ohlins that is designed for the RF with a narrower spring.
      Cheers Nolan

Thanks very much, I know people space them when fitting gsxr1000 shocks, I was just a bit peeved that Nitron didn't mention it. Thanks again and good luck with your racing

Hey Adam, get yourself on to the Facebook RF groups. They have as much information as you could possibly need. Real friendly bunch of people. Introduce yourself and tell them I told you to join...
Make sure it's charging properly. The alternator has a coupling that likes to shear.
Other than that they are pretty bomb proof with decent maintenance.
      Cheers
      Nolan.

I miss my 96. Same paint scheme. Honestly only got rid of it because of constant, persistent police harassment. Land of the free, baby.
