    After hearing about all the trouble with computers that had been bitlockered I went around all day Monday retrieving bitlocker keys from computers in my company and making an inventory of them, including paper copies of the recovery keys. Just in case. Was shocking that we did not have them available.

    • @An.Individual
      @An.Individual หลายเดือนก่อน

      How could you find the bitlocker key if you're locked out and you don't already know the recovery key?

    • @willrsan
      @willrsan หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@An.Individual I was getting the recovery keys BEFORE any problems occured. If you don't know the key you can get it by using the microsoft account used to initially set up Windows. If Windows was setup not using a microsoft account you are out of luck, the machine will have to have a complete clean install

    8.5 million pc's affected out of 1.4 billion. This has also happened to Linux. Its not a windows, Linux or Mac problem its a Crowdstrike, bad code, and bad testing.

    • @dingokidneys
      @dingokidneys หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly. In May this year another bad CrowdStrike update brought down a heap of Linux systems. Less impact on end users as the machines were not public facing and Linux uses methods and tools to make recovery from a kernel panic much easier; restart to known good configuration.
      CrowdStrike had earlier warning that their update delivery systems were shite and they did nothing about it. They deserve a good reaming out.

    Does this not affect only big business?

      Only big businesses that deploy CrowdStrike EDR need to do this to resolve the blue screen problems but it does effect everyone indirectly in that it brought down banks, airlines, shopping centres, etc. etc.

    How do I run an ISO file on a laptop displaying the Cloudstrike BSOD? You created what's needed, but some of us need to know how to use it. Don't I need to put the ISO on a flashdrive anyway? No cd drive is available on the laptop.

    even with your detailed explanation it is a mess... Cannot imagine doing it without your guide... Microsoft really screwed things with this "update"

    • @Bluedragon-co4kb
      @Bluedragon-co4kb หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have to remove the Crowdstrike file

    • @Bluedragon-co4kb
      @Bluedragon-co4kb หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because it's in the kernel lol 😆

    • @dingokidneys
      @dingokidneys หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This only affects businesses using CrowdStrike for end-point detection and response; mainly BIG businesses. It's not an issue for Windows users who don't use CrowdStrike.
      CrowdStrike put out a fixed update the same day and so when effected businesses managed to bring their systems back up, the correct update was applied.
      The big problem is just getting all these machines to actually boot into a usable system which is a manually intensive process.

    Is this also on windows 10 as i don't see any bitlocker problems with my old laptop. Though i haven't updated the choosen update or what it translates from zbirna posodobitev in slovenian. I usually don't do choosen updates right away. Oh wait i didn't get the crowdstrike issues since i didn't have it turned on the pc

  • @ngsc4635

    does that means they gonna release more updates without debugging in the future? and they expecting everyone should know how to solve the problems?

    I tried this out both ways making a bootable USB or using rufus to create the ISO to a USB key. Bootup off of it. Press anykey. says the computer will reboot to safe mode. press any key and it goes back into the automatic repair loop. changed the boot order around with no luck there either. I am boot to safe mode away and running that repair file. So close any ideas?

    • @dingokidneys
      @dingokidneys หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is only to create the bootable USB Win PE system. If you had a Win PE system created using the video Brian put out a little time ago, you could use that to fix an unbootable system effected by CrowdStrike. This tool is just Microsoft window dressing and to show that "they are doing something."

    Microsoft's way of fixing problems are not always the smartest way. If you don't use bitlocker, you can use Hirens Boot cd PE to locate the file and delete it. Create it on a usb stick and you can use it on many computers.
