    Hey Michael, thanks for the ‘emergency’ episode, it was definitely needed! B&O have outdone themselves with the Theatre, it’s just perfect! I can’t believe they’ve put the 6.5inch drivers from the 28’s in there. It’s unprecedented for a sound bar. The styling is incredible, it’s a big unit but what they have done to make it look less bulky by reducing the grill size and sort of giving the illusion that it is cut in half is amazing. Hope this makes sense! I think it’s worth every penny!

      Are you sure it's the same 6,5 bass as the 28?. I saw a interview with one of the B&O guys, and he stated that all the drives are costum made for the sound bar! Does he lie? Do you have photos and specs from the 28 bass?
      Cheers 😊

    • @Mikipedia

      I don't know how to respond to this without getting in to a lot of semantics that are important when you put it like that. Also the second comment doesn't exactly say what you may say is a ''lie'', which is a really strong statement and I wouldn't want to go there.
      If the cone and coil are the same between the two, but the cage and connectors aren't and the amps aren't either, is that ''the same'' or ''similar enough to be the same'' to you or is it something totally different?
      Technically speaking then it's a driver found nowhere else, but the performance would be basically the same. Even in the press release they basically say the Theatre is more or less the same as having stereo 28's up front. Even in the early spec release the performance seems super similar. Is that ''the same'' or close enough to be the same'' or is that a ''lie''?
      I don't know, it seems to me it was accurate enough on all ends, so you tell me? I guess I can be super conclusive soon enough once i can figure out if they have different part numbers and what the changes, if there are any, entail.

    • @Blandina11
      @Blandina11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't important at all, but "Peter Casey", the thread creater, states it's the 28 bass, and the B&O guys says you won't find this bass driver anywhere else in their sortiment.
      Both statements can't be true, time will tell.
      Cheers 😊

    Would be great if B&O could get Roon ready certification. I use Roon but have to rely on Chrinecast or airplay to my B&O speakers (Eclipse with 18s, 17s, 19), level, BS One and M5. Roon certification would be a better option for higher quality.

    Specifications give 8 x Wireless Powerlink, 8 x Powerlink but dose not say WiSA anywhere. Previously B&O WiSA control is based on their TV screens. There are third party 5.1 surround sound hubs for WiSA speakers and stereo hubs to add analogue and digital inputs.
    HDMI debedders give analogue outputs to 8 channels and Toslink (compressed 7.1) and these are not worthwhile for DSP speakers with digital inputs due to the lag unless there is a way of controlling that. The B&O Theatre takes digital audio from HDMI and passes that out powerlink wireless and wired.
    Connection to Emerge, Level and Balance Mozart is for multi-room. Very worthwhile but not a method for surround sound. There is no cheap way to get wireless DSP benefits in surround sound systems. You need either an expensive pre-amp with powerlink outputs (RJ45 Ethernet) or the manufacturer's own wireless system or WiSA. Wi-fi will not do it.

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WiSa and wireless powerlink are the same thing basically.
      They are working on making the Balance and Level useable for surround speakers, it's on the roadmap for somewhere in 2023 (probably the later months).

    • @geraldmcmullon2465
      @geraldmcmullon2465 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mikipedia It would be really nice if the Balance, Level and Emerge worked with a computer.TV for watching TH-cam and video. Expected this 13 months ago. As you both suggested don't wait on a promise. I guess I am in love with the idea of having speakers around the house for multi-room and on their own and then just being brought together in a 5.1 configuration for movie or game night. A Balance would work nicely as centre and bass with Level and/or Emerge front and rears. Being able to disconnect the pairing of the Level and carry it in to the garden or garage/workshop and repair for fuller stereo back in the lounge, Just so flexible. It defeats the purpose when these all in one solutions double up (sound bar for TV, DSP actives for stereo, battery portable and separate computer enabled speakers for each family member) and besides the cost the space taken *I have 6 floor standing speakers as well as computer speakers, pair of Level and a pair of Emerge and would like something that covered every user case for less than €8000 a drop). :)

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A balance as a center isn't going to work as it doesn't have the processing power. Through Airplay you can use them in stereo already. But 5.1 out of levels and balances is never going to work without an avr like built in to the theatre. I am also highly doubtful they'll have that level of flexibility as moving speakers around messes with the room and speaker calibration and it's far from optimal to remeasure that every time you switch use cases unfortunately.

    • @geraldmcmullon2465
      @geraldmcmullon2465 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mikipedia Levels do remeasure the room when you move them around. Part of the feature. In software you could store settings for each speaker.
      You say "They are working on making the Balance and Level useable for surround speakers, it's on the roadmap for somewhere in 2023 (probably the later months)."
      B&O had already suggested 13 months ago they probably could do that with just a software update.
      But now you say "But 5.1 out of levels and balances is never going to work without an avr like built in to the theatre."
      So have an avr in a box like the WiSA 6 channel avr hub. WiSA is not part of Mozart specs; so make it so. They are not likely to do because they want people to drop €8000 on a speaker (or pair) but ignore that people will built up from a unit to a pair and then be tempted to go to 5 or 6 if they don't have to dump what they already have. Surround sound is still niche with active and DSP wireless active speakers even more so.
      You can already use Beosound Levels for stereo from a computer, but not for video. They have DLNA, which I have used but now it can't find the server (Win 10 Windows Media Player). I can cast from some web sites using Chrome browser. So close to working but not without issues.
      Airplay - how does that work from a computer or laptop watching TH-cam or a video from Facebook? The web site goes on about steaming services not how to use a NAS. VLC works, but has to be reset every single time.
      I am told Apple TV 4K will adjust the latency, and that Google Chromecast might. But how do they do that when the computer doesn't? Do they read the video library from Windows Media Player? I have no HDMI eARC from the graphics card or from the monitors. B&O support also told me that
      • Only able to playback via wireless through Chromecast but only works for single speaker option.
      • If you would like to play from stored files from PC to your Beosound Level, it can only be done via Bluetooth and Lip sync issue will be present as this speaker is intended for music source.
      I guess support have not been told about DNLA. Casting from Chrome works in stereo without Bluetooth active. Wireless and hence lossless works from DNLA (well it did when it found the PC server).
      Having the Balance as centre/sub because it has deeper bass than the Levels. If Balance, Level and Emerge had low latency (15ms) then they don't need "processing" power. You do need a way to get the HDMI 8 channel audio split and sent to each speaker. B&O Beosound Theatre does that over WiSA and might be able to slow the image (HDMI eARC) for the 330ms latency on Level and Emerge speakers to use as rear speakers. Still lower cost than using Beolab 18 or 28 as rear channel!
      Wi-fi stereo from computer/TV for video play back has been done by many manufacturers and most people would assume that all speakers could be hooked up to them.
      As I said the only wireless solutions have been using their own wireless (e.g B&W Formation, Sonos, Dali Oberon Active Speakers) or WiSA. :(

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@geraldmcmullon2465 there too much here to respond to, but you're mixing a few things up. Level/Balance don't have wisa. Their self tuning ability is irrelevant if it's not driving it's own signal. you can't just make wisa part of something without antennas.
      not sure where the 330ms latency comes from but it's less than that. splitting 8 hmdi audio channels 8 different ways still doesn't get you anywhere useful without a lot of other data.
