    Not gonna lie, you saved my mind and my sanity.. sometime ago just after the apache arrived at early access I saw a random video where the guy said "this helicopter needs aloooooot of curves, I myself use 40 - 20.... bla bla bla" and without thinking and without even trying the heli first I punched alot of curves in it... and for months I've been frustrated trying to pilot this heli but it was hell, I had alot of problems with my inputs, my trims and all and I always thought it was myself, I thought I was the problem... after watching your video, specifically the part where you said "I fly with the default settings" and seeing you're flying amazingly stable and all (props up to you too, you're really good at it).. I got to my heli and removed every single curve... maaaaaan now its heaven on earth!! Thank you so much.
    I'm using your trim tips too, its helping alot!

    It's worth noting that if you're trimmed and you want to go into an orbit, you can just bank over and hit the trimmer left for Attitude hold. Which is sort of a temporary trim pressing again will go back to your previous trimmed state.

    I use MFG Peddles and the VKB EVO and found that using spring center for the rudder peddles and instant on the cyclic worked best for me. Just because I didn't like having to recenter the stick. But watch, we will get used to it and it will change!

    Thank you for this video, it has been tormenting me why this helicopter keeps spinning uncontrollably to the right everytime I try to take off. I have been adding collective very slowly in a fashion to measure how much torque is required for lift to taxi and perform push back and then finally lift off. Everytime I raised the collective enough to get the torque for flight. Each time it hit that sweet spot I would spin out to the right. Your video reminded me that you do need rudder trim to counter this effect to keep the back of the helicopter straight when the torque from the main rotor is producing enough lift for flight! That was helicopter flight 101 that I was blank on for the last couple of days trying to get her off the ground. I was successful in getting her airborne today! Wags did an excellent job explaining symbology. But he confused me when he was showing that he had the cyclic being trim locked in different positions and I guess he wasnt too clear that it was only the rudder that needed trimming slightly to the left like you explained to counter balance the rotation of the main rotor. Thank you for this!

    That bank turn to a hover at 6:40 was so slick.
    Can you a basic helo flying video with info on how to do the turns and other stuff please?

    Just git the trial for this and I want to love it cause it's fun but I find it easier to barrel roll than hover 🤣
    Gonna have a go with this constant trimming later.

    If you don't have rudder pedals what key binds would you use for trim AND what trim do you do just the up or all of them IE left, right, up and down? And do you trim to default all the time? Thanx for any help you can offer.

      The trim I set is once I have it steady, I press the trim button to hold that position. It trims the appropriate surfaces for the position they were in when you pressed the trim button.

    Nice demo flight work, wish mine was like that, can do it with many other heli's, just not the Apache

    what is the name of the "trim" you use in the control binding?

    • @otanguma
      @otanguma หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use the Force Trim controls on the control mapping. AL means Altitude, AT meant Attitude, I just found out myself and I use the Force Trim AT the most so far.

    Nice video. How do you avoid the “Low RPM” warning when arresting your descent into a hover. I find in a hover - when I find I’m descending a bit - my power goes to high and rpm drops away. Only way to resolve is drop the collecting - resulting in a hard landing and/or roll over.

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watch your rate of descent and ensure you don’t go into VRS

    • @Maverick1375
      @Maverick1375 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TacticalPascale That VRS is crazy, I experienced that on my first flight today. But I recognized when I was going into VRS to know to add some collective to buffer it out to slow my rate of descent! Still came down a bit hard, but atleasts she didnt explode on touch down! I had no cheats on so I know my landing was crap, but atleast it wasnt tragic! lol

      When you are on approach and slowing down to 30 knots and below, start increasing collective and keep vsi between 500-200 ft decent rate.
      At 30 knots and below you are coming out of translational lift and will fall like a rock if the disk (rotorblades) are not loaded.

    OK we all know the trim will "freeze" the controls in place and the helo will continue what it's doing. The big question is what is your setup? What button do you use, what trim options do you use in the menu (there are 3 joystick options).

    Nice video. What curves you running for your rudder pedals. I find these pedals terrible for flying conventional helicopters.. Fine for the KA50.

    there is like 4 types of trim to bind in setting which one should i be using. i have them all bond but everytime i try any of them they dont seem to do anything

    When you say “trim” is it a fierce trim like in the Gazelle or an incremental trim like in a warbird? I’m thinking force trim but the controls have four trim axes.

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like a warbird. Adjust, tap, adjust repeat

  • @dogtaggamer1
    @dogtaggamer1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you adjusting your power along with moving the collective? What is the optimal power setting?

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, the “power” I refer to is just poor wording by me. The engine is at full RPM, when I pull on the collective it changes the torque, percentage above the speed in the ihadss.

    Can someone please tell me what the keybind is for the window in the top left at :55 ? I've seen it in so many videos but nobody ever says what it is or how to enable it. Would be incredibly useful to know!

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s “show controls” left control and H perhaps. It’s been months since I played DCS. Search in the controls for it or the UI layer section

    That's a great tip - thanks! Funny how something so simple and "seemingly" common sense (like "just keep hitting the trim button") can end up being so helpful. Question for you: Are you narrating/recording while you're flying? Or is it a track and you voice over/narrate later? Just curious...
    Thanks again for the video!

    This video would be great if you actually told us how to trim. Just saying "ok nose up, now trim" doesn't help at all. Like some other comments said, there are 4 trim key bindings in the settings. It would be helpful to know what those are, how to use them and which is the one you're talking about. Please and thank you

      I literally say “trim up” about a hundred times. That’s the button.
      2:03 - “Trim up” first of many times I explain it.

  • @shorterdanny
    @shorterdanny 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    the trim issues are nothing to do with it being an Apache! they are to do with modelling a helicopter flight model in DCS...and the issues with not having feedback loops through the controls.. that said your approach to over come this is sound.

  • @rws1467
    @rws1467 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Call me daft but its not power its angle of the blades when you change the collective, the bigger the angle the bigger the drag on the blades, power should be in flight, or am I being daft?

    • @TacticalPascale
      @TacticalPascale  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cyclic changes the pitch angle of the blades so that each of them will has same angle of incidence as it passes the same point in the rotation.
      The collective moves the pitch angle of the blades at the same time, hence “collective”. If you’re in level flight it will change height.
