It's in meters. Army talks in meters with the guys on the ground, so anything ground related is meters. Distance to WPs in navigation is also meters/kilometers.
I agree - the avionics is defaulted to km in the FLT page menu until you change it to your preference. You CAN change it to imperial, but I believe it will read out in either yards or miles, cant remember which atm.
Top tip when using the 30 cal machine gun with George. Change range for the gun, to Auto (or A) using the keypad on the left. Then Lazer before shooting making minor corrections with your gun possistioning, for surgical shots each time. But I just simply love this DCS AH-64D module, because it's so much fun......
Nice video, I finally got eagle eyed George able to hit targets consistently. To help him be more survivable I believe the combat setting has commands to break left or right as well as a 180. The UI isn't very intuitive which means you'll be checking the commands until they're memorized
I really find him quite competent at combat. He can hit targets with the hellfires and gun from CPLT G seat, quite quickly. Of course its more fun to do all the shooting yourself, so I don't use him for that most of the time. I will even swap seats to Pilot so I can do the rockets myself. But he's quite competent in either seat imo. That being said, It is kinda funny to have him in Pilot seat and just tell him "Waypoint 3, JEEVES!" and go back to shooting stuff.
Agreed! I've been flying myself, then jumping into the front seat near targets while George either flies or hovers for me. Then, when I'm done, I can jump back into the back seat and keep flying.
Hi TP, I've finally gotten back to the AH-64 after sometime off doing other stuff, Ive been checking out yours and Wags vid tutorials and noticed your AI interface is bottom left of screen, how did you move the interface?
Great video as always Pascale! Question for you - sometimes when I have a full hell fire load out and ask George to hover the helicopter starts to decend rapidly to the ground? Has that ever happened to you? It’s very random and I can’t figure out why he does that (in fact he descends all the way to the ground and crashes :( )…..also can the pilot and gunnner eject when hit BY AAA? What is the eject mechanism or it doesn’t exist for helo pilots and gunners ?
a year later - generally i've found that with the heavier load the torque is greater, so if you're moving to fast or giving george control with too much going on his computer inputs are so crazy the torque goes wild and you lose lift. I usually slow myself down and hover, then switch it to him, also I found that not giving too much altitude request or movement request helps keep him from going crazy on the torque and losing lift
What are the commands called for slewing the tads cursor and lazing keyboard and what do you recommend binding them to? I like to use the buttons on the side sticks but the right stick hat doesn't seem to do anything (I guess you have to slave or hit something first).
If you have a game controller I highly recommend using that. My friend, GM, is an ex Apache pilot. It’s what he uses, there are loads of profiles on it.
They there. CMOS is actually CMWS for the AH-64D (CMOS is kind of a universal term, methinks). It is one of the modes you can put George in. Once you select CMWS by pressing the A key (or whatever key you have assigned to the left action on George), you will see the second overlay on the right, which reflects the modes your CMOS is in.

Exactly what I needed. Still having difficulty manipulating the TADS, but that will come. Practice... Practice... Practice!

wait, you use george as a gunner AND a pilot? what do YOU do? lmao

Can you tell him to go to a waypoint?

Nicely done, thanks.
Oct 2022 and my George AI doesn't show up LCtrl + V :/
can u make him gly top the wait point, sence its in the circle of the gorge ai in yellow?
I wish you could be CPG and George as pilot in MP...
I wish the George UI was more like Heatblur's Jester radial. Would way rather that over a series of mysterious long/short taps.

I believe the apache does not have ejection seats

If you fire the laser while using the gun doesn't it then set the range for the gun so you dont have to manually set it?
it does but it also adds lead prediction so any small movement of the LOS will cause inaccuracies, Auto range and LMC is the way forward.

Nice vid, thnx mate :)
I've had real world worst back seaters than George
it is definitely in meters or feet. not fathoms or furlongs.
What about leagues or parsecs?
Def.. Light Years...
Helicopters die when they fly over their target. Just saying
Any body else have a George that cannot fly? He crashes every time I give him control, regardless of what I tell him to do.
What is cmos page? Im a complete newbie. Im at 14 minutes in.
