Historical Profile
The Lancia Stratos is one of the most iconic cars in motorsport history, designed with the specific purpose of dominating rally competitions of its era. Intended to replace the equally renowned Lancia Fulvia HF, it made its debut in the early 1970s. Featuring a modern and highly attractive design, with a low and aggressively styled bodywork crafted by Bertone, the Lancia Stratos was equipped with a 2,400 cc V6 engine, derived from the Ferrari Dino, producing 250 horsepower. The combination of the powerful six-cylinder engine and the innovative lightweight, compact chassis laid the foundation for a vehicle that would revolutionize the history of off-road competitions. The first successes came shortly after its debut in 1973 and were solidified, thanks in part to legendary drivers, with three consecutive World Constructors' Championship titles during the 1970s.

100% NEW TOOLING!
The Lancia Stratos HF (Tipo 829), known as Lancia Stratos, is a rear mid-engined sports car designed for rallying, made by Italian car manufacturer Lancia. It was highly successful in competition, winning the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976; as well as winning the 1974 Targa Florio,[6] winning the Tour de France Automobile five times and the Giro d'Italia automobilistico three times.
Type Classic and modern cars
Period 1970/1980
SKILL 5
Model Dim. 30.9 cm (12.1")
Production of the 500 cars required for homologation in Group 4 commenced in 1973 and the Stratos was homologated for the 1974 World Rally Championship season.[5] The Ferrari Dino V6 engine was phased out in 1974, but 500 engines - among the last examples built - were delivered to Lancia.[9] Production ended in 1975, when it was thought that only 492 were made (for the 1976 season, the Group 4 production requirement was reduced to 400 in 24 months[10]). The manufacturer of the car was Bertone in Turin, with final assembly by Lancia at the Chivasso plant.[11] Powered by the Dino 2.4 L V6 engine that was also fitted to the rallying versions, but in a lower state of tune, it resulted in a power output of 190 PS; 188 bhp (140 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 226 N⋅m; 166 lbf⋅ft (23 kg⋅m) at 4,000 rpm of torque, giving the road car a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 6.8 seconds, and a top speed of 232 km/h (144 mph).[3] The car was sold as the Lancia Stratos HF Stradale.

The Stratos weighed between 900 and 950 kilograms, depending on configuration. Power output was around 275 hp (205 kW) for the original 12 valve version and 320 hp (239 kW) for the 24 valve version. Beginning with the 1978 season the 24 valve heads were banned from group 4 competition by a change to the FIA rules (which would have required additional production of 24-valve cars for re-homologation).
The car won the 1974, 1975 and 1976 championship titles in the hands of Sandro Munari and Björn Waldegård, and might have gone on to win more had not internal politics within the Fiat group placed rallying responsibility on the Fiat 131 Abarths. As well as victories on the 1975, 1976 and 1977 Monte Carlo Rally, all courtesy of Munari, the Stratos won the event with the private Chardonnet Team as late as 1979.
Very interesting, thanks for posting!
This will be another big car -thanks for showing it.
Would love to see this built up on the channel. One of the most iconic rally cars of its era.
Lancia! Sweet. I love your builds.
Wow that is one incredibly detailed kit! Detail like you wouldn’t believe! Thanks for the unboxing!
Great video Chris , keep em coming, I'll keep watching
Cool!!! I have always liked that car, definitely going to buy it. This is a great video and review of the kit. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
Can’t wait to watch😊
Thank you
Amazing kit. I especially like the satin chrome plated parts and the tires/rubber parts that are not a shiny vinyl. I loved this car when I first saw it in the 70's. I may have to get one of these even though I've been eyeballing the Italeri Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 1/12 scale roadster too. Decisions, decisions.
Just quick note. The louvers weren't molded closed in any of my 70s kits. For instance, I'm looking at my Monogram 1/24 '70 California Street Vette with open louvers on the back window. The kit if from 1973. I built it in 1978. It's crazy how much these things are worth now.
This might be a good kit to wait on until Italeri works out some issues with the molds. Nigel's Modelling Bench here on TH-cam has a very critical review of the kit and shows that the body is riddled with sink marks and I can see them in the video here. (He has just received some improved parts from Italeri that appear to fix the worst of the problems.) For the ridiculous price of these kits they should be close to perfect and at least the early pressings of this kit are far from it.
Definitely not a 2-day build, but it is a great looking kit a lot of detail 👍👍
Great kit and I know it's 1:12 but that's a hefty price tag for a kit imo.
$400.00 . Yikes!!!. Cool kit but I will admire it from afar
Give it a bit. Italeri's other 1/12 Lancias were similarly high when they came out and then settled around $200 on Amazon and Ebay.
With an eye-watering price, I think I'll sit this one out and let Chris do the build...
might be more economical to order directly from Europe.
The best looking rally car ever produced and it has a Ferrari engine from the Dino 246gt.
😅 what ever happened to the 8th scale black charger are you still building that or is it completely done yet
That price...
I know... I was really interested in this one, too.
It's really cool, I understand why they are limited production, with that kind of price, I'll never own one! Kind of sad, I'd really like to build this one! Oh well!
Nice kit, but not worth $530 CAD. I can get Tamiya 1/12th kits for way less. Though, i guess sunce its all new tooling (so they say), thats what accounts fir the price.
well I was glad to be sitting down when I clicked on the link 380.00 for a model kit holly crap Batman
What is the MSRP?
This Looks Like WheelJack From Transformers
wow that sells in USA for nearly the same in US$ as it does in Australian dollars in Australia. So about 50% more expensive in USA
$379!?! Tamiyas RC is cheaper
Ridiculous price. Could build many smaller kits for that amount, and have as much satisfaction.
@@gerdogstenc2534👍🏻
Way way way too much for that kit
All these girls commeting just to get guys to subscribe to their dodgy channels 😅
Yes, bots, report them.
The sink marks on that trunk are visible from space 🤦♂️ She’s a 20 footer with all those mold marks, and not worth that much cash. I’d sooner build from resin if I gotta do that much bodyworking AND shell out hundreds. Pass
