Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

We were like you for a long time.. always dealing with fork lifts and never listening to the “how do you farm without a skid steer” comments. Then we bought one about 5-6 years ago then got another and now here we are saying how do you farm without a skid steer. Skid steer can do what a fork lift can plus a lot more for roughly the same price. There are endless things you will come up with to use one for once you have one. Would have made quick work prepping that shed today.

Have u looked into van trailer for a semi or does that open another can of worms.
It does and I have no incentive to do that. I get paid milage and hourly so why do it in less time or miles? (Outside of the time to get it done factor)
Would runinng a rotary hoe over the early beans now help break that crust up or will you just hope it rains enough in the mean time?
It's not the crust so much as just the whole ground being hard. And we are going to get more rain before they come up so I think they'll be ok.
@BorderViewFarms we needed a few tenths east central il to help ours out don't sound like we got even a tenth prolly get our hoe out tomorrow unless I get surprised in the am😊
