Great review Guido! Always beautiful shots and a very professional review. I guess I fall into the category of reviewers that borrow a car from a dealership and can't drive haha but in the day I spent with the Panamera Turbo, I loved it. Amazing handling (from what I could tell from my lame roads lol) and really exciting acceleration (for the short bursts allowed here in the states). Whoever doesn't like this car is crazy, the looks are controversial but the performance overshadows that in my opinion. Keep up the great work Guido!

Great review, which I have watched a couple of times. I have had the Turbo 2014 for more than 3 years now and you are absolutely right about it being a drivers car and going around corners like a sports-car. For me it is s sportscar that I can drive on a daily basis, I can bring my family and even my dog along for longer rides and that is where it is better than a two seater - you get to enjoy it often and together with others. Thank you for taking the time to do a proper test drive and share it!

By the way, the interesting fact is that are the very regular Porsche owners that are teasing the Panamera, mostly about her look and design.
To me, it's a great car, not the prettiest but as you said she has an important presence, not only from the outside but from the inside too, very very well made and something exotic in a way that amg, m or rs cannot achieve.
I stayed till the very end so keep doing reviews the way you do it cuz you're doing a great job.

I´m totally agree about your impressions of the Panamera Turbo Guido! Driving the Panamera GTS and Turbo the first time when the facelift launched over a year ago, I was absolutely blowed away by the driving performance of these car and how much confidence it gives while cornering on very small backroads. You completely forget that there´s a massive car with more than 2 tons around you. In my opinion the Panamera is a class of its own and that´s why I love these car a lot!

Guido, nice review. Many of the comments indicate that viewers don’t understand the Turbo’s sport exhaust. With the “sport” exhaust engaged (by switch, or automatically in Sport and Sport Plus mode), a motor controlled valve opens up at the end of the exhaust system, opening it up to breathe better. What you hear on these passes in the video is in Sport Exhaust mode. In comfort mode, the car is quiet. I have this same car, a 2016 Turbo. I have installed a fabric air filter, 200 cell downpipes, and an FVD tune, and now have over 600 bhp. What was already an impressive car is now a supercar. I love it. It would be fun to have a 911, too, and compare, but there is only so much room in my garage!
Thanks Scott! I remember this car being fitted with the factory optional Porsche sports exhaust, which I believed was priced at 3000 or 4000 Euro. So definetly not a standard exhaust, but OEM. I try filming all footage in "loud mode" to get exciting audio for you viewers. Glad to hear you enjoy your car, I sure love this generation of the Panamera :=) - Guido

I just love this car but it is beyond my price range. I have also seen invoices for repairs on these cars and they blew me away. These cars are obviously made for the rich. They are also made for Germany's very fast highways. Here in North America one cannot really enjoy such a car due to the low speed limits.
Awesome video as always Guido. As for the fact that "nobody sticks around for 50 minute in depth car reviews any longer", it's a true shame. A lot of people out there will never get the chance to drive these beautiful machines the way you do; even those of us who are shopping for them can hardly get such a good impression from a test drive. Any chance you could share those more in depth thoughts either in a separate "uncut" version of the review, or maybe a simple blog write up? Keep up the great work!

The Panamera felt so perfect in all the different modes, people wouldn't beliebve me I guess :) The other thing is I want a certain flow in the video and not make it boring to watch with me talking into the camera all the time. And recording even more footage for longer videos is challenging for me being basically a one man show. Of course you can always ask me if there's something you're particulary interested in ! - Guido
love the sound of the upshifts you captured from the drive by. This is the definition of overkill for north america though, in my province they impound your car if you go 150 on the highway.
Excellent review, I have a Panamera Turbo 970 model and your description of the car is extremely accurate, even more so for the series 1 model as its not as refined visually as the 971 is and has looks only a mother could love.
The capability of the car, build quality, and performance is breathtaking. As a former BMW guy who hot bored if his 7 series, I'm so happy I chose the Porsche over an F10 M5, it's not about horsepower, the panamera Turbo is truly greater than the sum of its parts and I'm only just scratching the surface.

i hate this car the time it was out, but when i had the chance to have a closer look and drive this car... man that was a very different experience. yes, it is not a 911 but it doesnt suppose to. it is a different car with a porches DNA. i did change my mind and i totally love this car now.

I found this car revolting when it first launched, I know Porsche is not known for their designs, but I could not understand what was going through their heads when they designed this monstrosity.
Later, I had the opportunity to drive this car in the GTS trim and the rest is history, it felt like a bigger 911 that was practical. I never thought I would prefer the Panamera over an M5, but I honestly do after getting to drive it. The looks also grow on you, once you tick the right color and exterior appearance options, especially in the GTS trim.

great review, Guido. I did not like the Panamera until recently, where my Porschedealer was friendly enough to give me a 2014 Panamera Diesel for one week during maintenance. Then i was sold on the Panamera. Some weeks ago i've driven the Panamera GTS. Now i feel desperate to buy a panamera gts. i love These cars!
+headbud987 Great to hear that you agree with me ! I could have tested this or the GTS but went for the Turbo, because I miss low end torque in that engine. It sure makes a great sound and performs great though :)
I really don't understand people's hate on this car. It looks amazing in person. The interior is very very well built and really gives you a high end feel thats way better the BMWs and Mercedes.
+Tian Xu (swein1900) I'd say it very much depends on the color and wheels. In my town there's a black one with no badges and the 20 inch 911 Turbo II Wheels. That would be my choice too :)

I didn't care about the Panamera until I drove one at the Porsche Experience Center. It was "only" the S model but I couldn't believe how composed it was on their tight test track. The looks are subjective (I like hatchbacks so I suppose I'm biased) but there can be no doubt that it performs as a Porsche should, regardless of it's size.
+MrSlash00r I'd say the S and Turbo really are the best and the S is way more affordable too. I like the new 3.6 Turbo. In the Macan its also very nice imo :)

TheGetawayer well i daily drive a b8 S4, and one thing i want to say is that when i drive the panamera for a couple days (has PCCB) and get back into my S4, it feels like the brakes don't work and i get scared XD. but the panamera feels like the best do everything car: special, luxurious, and sporty when you want it to. it is so heavy yet it outperforms basically everything you encounter in everyday driving. just an amazing machine, truly a great host of porsche DNA :)

+aninstrumentalvision Still a normal Canon EOS 600...I use a Blue Mic for the voice overs. I'm pretty happy with it. After all I'm just doing these as a hobby, with no sponsors or anything. I would love to upgrade to 60fps equipment, when the views get better again and I can justify the investment :)

Outstanding video! +1 on these supposed 'experts' who talk about body roll at 30mph.. Strange & maybe it's just me but I think this facelifted Turbo makes more noise than its predecessor? Might just be the camera.. Never remember them sounding that aggressive.Ever try an E60 M5? A different animal to this but definitely worth a go if you ever get the chance to get behind a good one :)

Great video as always. I have always liked the Panamera, though id settle for the 4s or the GTS, also wondered why Porsche have never fitted the V8 diesel from the Cayenne into the Panamera. Also think the rear drive Panamera and the Aston Rapide S have quite a bit in common, would be interesting to hear which would be your choice.
+Phill Smith The GTS doesn't have the low end torque, but the new Turbo V6 in the S and 4S would be great I think. Loved it in the Macan Turbo I filmed :)

In opposite of most opinios here I kind of liked the background music. At no point I was distrected by it or annoyed. I think Guido is finding his own style of videos, which I love! It is different but that makes it really interesting, at least to me. I never liked the interieur of Porsche either... but with that filter all that metal shiny elements start to glow in the darkness of the shot and I think it visually catches the character of the car. Just one mino thing: The video quality exceeds the quality of your audio, thats also probably the reason why some viewers ask for less backgroundmusic. If you could somehow get a bit better audio from your voice it would make a huge difference. I know there is the problem that usually you want to have the same audio quality in the whole video and thats difficult but still, it would improve it alot.

+Patrick Wilczek Thanks Partick ! I try to improve with every video. My Canon DSLR isn't the best for audio and I already tried a bunch of different mics on it. If the view numbers get better again, I will see if I can upgrade to some better equipment. Music is always a challenge because it has to be royalty free with a proper license, since i can't afford to get copyright strics from TH-cam. All feedback helps, so I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I will try to improve the quality ! - Guido
Yet another great video Guido. Is that the stock exhaust on this model? I don't remember Panameras sounding that deep and mean. Is this exhaust system exclusive to the Turbo model?
+buckolaci Thanks ! No this car had the optional performance exhaust, which comes with a button on the center console to switch it between loud and normal :) Sounds stunning, but another very pricey option with almost 3000€

I would like to think (hope) that this review was conducted on closed roads as the speeds driven in the fog were irresponsible and most definitely dangerous. It is unlikely, but possible that visibility in the moment was far better than it appeared on the video. I would be interested to know what Guido has to say. I do however enjoy his reviews as they are different to so many others. Keep up the good work.
+Steve Cook These senses are filmed with a camera car driving ahead, doing the german speed limit, on roads I drive on a daily basis. It might look dangerrous, but some of it is because of the camera angle and without the speed limit I could have driven way faster actually. So don't worry ;) - Guido

+JozzipB Hopefully next year Jozzip ! But I expect it to feel very similiar to the sedan I tested and would prefer to finally try the AMG GT as a comparision to the 911 Turbo. Will try to get at least one of both, all up to AMG :)
I really want to know if the ventilated/heated seats are a worthy option. Do they add weight and are they good? We see extreme temperatures .. 45-50 degrees Celsius of sorts .. And winters are about 0 degrees Celsius no colder than that in most cases.
Also .. I'm curious to know what happened to the G63 review ? Is it in the works ? Or was it just a sounds/ impressions thing?

That G63 was only press footage, I tried to get an invite for the driving event which was just 20 miles from where I live, but it was during the IAA and the contact at Mercedes was too busy to answer. But I will try a normal GLE next month if that's helping you :)

I prefer the Panameras look. The A7 rear looks weird to me. The CLS is a beauty, the Panamera a monster, the A7 is weird :)
So this steering wheel is optional for extra cash and it doesn't have an audio controls on it?
+Miro Malinik that's the point actually, its indicative of a few things:1) Porsche loves nickel and diming people, if there's a better or prettier version of something, charge them a shit ton of money2) proper driving enthusiasts who buy this car to actually use its performance instead of as a status symbol will pay up for the better wheel3)the standard wheel with audio and infotainment controls is actually ugly as hell 4) last but not least, we were given two hands so to use one to control all of the features on this car isn't a big deal since Porsche did the courtesy of providing physical buttons in place of haptic feedback or touch screen (though you can use the TS if you'd like.

Als ich das letzte mal bei mobile.de nach dem gloriosen V8 GTS gesucht hatte, mußte ich mir derb die Äuglein reiben ob der heftigen Gebrauchtpreise... wegen dem Klang allein würde ich den alten GTS jedem anderen Panamera vorziehen.
+Baerchenization Der Klang ist toll, aber das Drehmoment setzt sehr spät ein für so ein schweres Auto. Ich würde deshalb einen der Turbo-Motoren vorziehen. Aber der Klang des GTS ist wirklich Schauer erregend :)
