For those complaining about the zoomed in screen, actually you can play full screen field too. On the title screen press either left or right, a simbol appears and then press start.
i'm a fan of the old school video games. pac man is one of my favorites. here's a tip on getting the high scores. when the fruit treats appear in the middle of the screen, eat them for the bonus points.
Ok, here’s a tip of surviving, Blinky is the one that chases you and gets faster when there’s barely any pellets left, Pinky is the one that tries to trap you between her and another ghost Inky tries to trick you to follow him and eventually bump into him and die Clyde can mind his own business sometimes
The GBC one is pretty much this one with color in it, if played on a Super Game Boy, you'll pretty much be playing the GB version as the SGB does not have the color support of the GBC. If you play this GB version on an SGB, you'll get the exact same color scheme. Biggest difference for the GBC version, an extra game on the cart.
I guess I'm the only one bothered by the choice to zoom the screen in. The sprites look nice this way but I'd personally have much preferred small, less detailed sprites, and seeing the entire maze on screen at once. Just my opinion; I didn't grow up with this port, I don't intend to step on anyone's nostalgia.
All the handheld ports back then were like this, the GB, GBC, Neo Geo Pocket, and Game Gear, shocked there was never a Wonderswan port of Pac, or the wife (because Pac-Mom can kiss my ass). They all had the option to play zoomed in, or zoomed out. For someone with older eyes, it's best to play zoomed in, so that you can see what is going on. The original Puyo Puyo on GB is another one that requires playing on a Super GB or GC Game Boy Player if you are an older person who doesn't have the sharp eye sight of a kid.
Pretty decent version of Pac-Man, have it and Ms Pac-Man GB in my collection. I eventually need to pick up on the GBC versions of both due to the extras, Super Pac-Man and Pac-Attack each version offers.
I bought this version just recently and i must say it’s a good part. While it is true that it sadly lacks any color, thus making it more feel like a rawish version of,BUT, Once playing it on the supergameboy or on gameboycolor with adaptor, you can then costumize your own color pallete to make it look & feel more closer to the arcade version of it😁
I didn't think there would actually be Pac Man on Original Gameboy! But, I guess, as I once said: Rule 34: If it exists, there is a Gameboy game of it. If there isn't, there will be bootleg.
The GBC version is nice, but playing it on a Super Game Boy, and you are pretty much playing the GB version, with the extra option of another game on the cartridge. Unless you play it on a GBC, GCN Game Boy Player, or GBA, you won't get the full color experience. And unless you have a GBA SP, good luck seeing the game in any kind of poor lighting on a GBA (GBC had no backlighting either, unless you got one of those Japanese models where backlighting was added, or you have your handheld modded for backlight).
apparently in the Game Boy version of Pac Man 200,000 is the maximum possible score, then Pac Man is automatically sent to the ghosts' box and is trapped there.
Oh man I remember being obsessed with pacman and so my dad said he'd buy the NES version for me on my 3DS but I insisted on getting the Gameboy version since it was cheaper. Now sure I saved him like 99¢ but god was this a downgrade from what I could have played
Play the GBC one on a Super GB (yes it is compatible as it is on one of those black GBC carts), it's pretty much the exact same game, right down to the games default color palette, only the GBC and GBA display the color seen in that version. The only bonus is the extra game on the GBC cart, and the Ms. Pac-Man GBC cart.
For those complaining about the zoomed in screen, actually you can play full screen field too.
On the title screen press either left or right, a simbol appears and then press start.
Thanks. I've tried this on the color version and it works
I have both the original and the colour version
Even zoomed in still better than atari 2600 version
The graphics aren't as good if you do this though, but it's not noticeable on a Game Boy screen, it is however on a TV.
@@linc_gband no maniac would play this on a tv so I don’t think anyone will see a difference

is this the same game as the one on gameboy color just without color?
@Carter Harper that's not what he asked
Yes?
I don't know, but if so then it would be more so the other way around, since it came out on Game Boy first.
Yes and no, the one without the color is the one released in 1991, and the color version came out in 1999.
The GBC one is pretty much this one with color in it, if played on a Super Game Boy, you'll pretty much be playing the GB version as the SGB does not have the color support of the GBC. How in the world can the ghosts catch up to you to the point where they merge into Pac-Man?
Pac-man "reintegrates" them into his body using digestion
Hitboxes. Gotta love 'em.
Eating dots slows you down, if you go down an alley with no dots, Pac-Man tends to outrun the ghosts.

The game has 256 screens, the last a kill screen, so the scoring can go well past 200,000.
