Lyrics:
You ought to know
It's an affair of the heart
It's an affair of the heart
It's an affair of the heart
Have a little blind faith, believe
It's an affair of the heart
I still live in the 80's in my mind 🙂 Let's thank God for that wonderful time...
Me, too!! Could have left me thêre & I'd be satisfied!!!
May the 80s live on in infamy ❤❤❤❤.
Yes, thats right, I want to go back now. We are leaving in five minutes. 😊😅
Same here bud!! I wish I could go back and relive it.
I don't care who you are, this is a great song.
The 80's were the best. There will never be another decade that even comes close. I'm 53 and I miss the 80's.
I agree
Amen to that!!
I fully agree. I'm 49 looking back at all of this music. Hardly any songs of 2019 has the authenticity of hit songs like these
In 1980 l was 15,l hit the 80's just right
ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️💙
Who's still listening in 2024??🙋♀️Going to see him in concert NEXT Saturday!!Whoo who🤩🥵🔥👍
me
Lucky you and I'm sure you'll have a blast 🎉🎉🎉. If you drink have one for me lol ...Cheers 🍻
Theb80s was the decade ever I'm 52 and still living my .80s
You are 100% right
Your not alone bud.
This man is so gorgeous!! He still has it going on!!
His #9 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from the summer of 1983
This was the opening song last night to a sold out show. At 73 he can still put on a great performance and it was better than expected.
He's still HANDSOME 🤩
Driving to his concert right now! Super excited! 👏
I can’t wait to see him again. I have tickets for his concert this coming December in Phoenix. Rick Springfield was my very first concert way back in 1984. He’s always been one of my favorite “rock stars.”
73?! Crazy.
I luv me some Rick Springfield 🎸
Gosh i miss the 80s
Probably one of the best looking rockers in history! English roots/Australian nationality and now an American citizen! Go Rick!
Springfield was a true rock star. No insane outfits or crazy hairstyles, just him up there with his guitar and his voice
And his jumpsuits..but dang he was sexy..
And don't forget some makeup.
Who cares what people wear or what they do with their hair, doesn't make them any less of a rockstar or person, what matters is if they worked hard to get to where they are, it's not easy to learn an instrument, let alone create band that doesn't fight, and that plays together in time, actually write hits and then get into a record label, so much disrespect on social media for people that work so hard, it's not like their a half naked woman pretending to play an instrument just for views, we've all seen that crap, that's what it is too crap, if they had talent they wouldn't need to dress half naked
He’s still amok n Hawt
Is not was
The 80’s were the best. Keep on rocking Rick
For sure I'll even take some of the late 70s
1983 was simply an incredible year for music and this was one of them. Cassettes and boom box radios turned as loud as it could go, those were the days.
This song should have been a lot bigger!
does this only go to 13? thunder and lightening
1983 churned out some amazing songs. I agree, like totally. :)
83 was great music's apex. After 83 it just kept getting worse and worse
1984 was better
80s was best time. There nothing good today.
80s rock is unique. A gift to humanity
Its the raw innocence of the music will never see again
It time to stepup and give the 80's the time it deserves!!😂😅😊🎉 Step up;;! Now
One thing about the 80's is that there were soo many awesome songs that a lot of deserved songs didn't make it to the #1. This one should of. Hard to choose the best song of the 80's. It was a great decade in music and movies, they still play them today in them.
Man, this dude was the complete package back in the 80s. Movie-star looks, great voice, acting and musical chops.
No doubt. All my female peers had a major crush on Rick Springfield but I just liked his music 😂
Great riff and solo. The lyrics were well written too. Even though this song was popular back in the day it never get that much credit as it should have. Rick's best song and one of the best songs from the 80's IMO
I was thinking the same about that solo. Took some balls to propose that in the rock-era. Next-level solo.
He didn't write this one. I just heard the crazy story of how he obtained the song, a couple days ago. th-cam.com/video/pvoxnQQQLj0/w-d-xo.html
I agree that this is Rick's best song. It's the first one I look for whenever I'm in the mood for his music.
@@catsnfashion80s It's insane - some dude handed him a cassette in the bathroom. Rick Springfield threw the tape on the car floor, then picked it up months later and inserted it into the tape - and got a big surprise.
Tim Pierce solo
I was young enough to remember when RIck Springfield played a doctor on the soap opera General Hospital in the 80,s. He is an all time great.
Dr. Noah Drake! I ran home from school to watch it!!
I remember that. "Noah Drake.." I think everyone tuned into GH just to see him and Antonio Sabato Jr..
@@elianad2083 and Blackie!! (John Stamos)
Rick had some really great songs!
I loved Rick Springfield music back in the 80's .
I saw Rick Springfield in concert in Albany, GA. ‘Til Tuesday, who had the hit song “Voices Carry” at that time, opened for Rick. He sang songs from “Working Class Dog”, “Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet”, “Living in Oz”, “Hard To Hold” and “Tao”. That was in Jul 1985 when I was home on Leave while serving in the US Navy. Rick is an awesome performer!! ❤️🤍💙
After 35 years he still makes my heart go pitter patter
A great song. I sure miss the 80's.
Very handsome man therea
And now 2022
Mine too 🥰😍
It’s crazy that I still remember all the words. My first concert! Love him!❤️❤️❤️
This dude was the man in the 80's... Turned out a lot of hits. Damn, I miss the 80's
I miss the 80, s to very good times!!!
Me 2
He’s still making great music.
He's got more albums out and I was in tears listening to the song that was obviously a dedication to his mother.. he was just singing in a couple years ago live with an orchestra and it was absolutely beautiful and made me cry. Something about my life,. You might be able to find it on TH-cam but it is absolutely beautiful
I long to be able to go back to the 80's. But I obviously can't. I miss those days.
The man who turns the love songs into a great rock n roll. Amazing!!!!
The music we listen to today will nerer come close to the 70s 80s 90s never
Rap is crap, rap is crappy, it makes my ears bleed😳
Today's music is complete and total 💩.
Bring back the 80's! The best days ever!
No lie! 😊
ABSOLUTE 😉
Fuhhgetaboutit Pal. Big time Heart from Miami 🌴. nice.....
One of the few men who can rock a mullet!
"Business in the front..party in the back.."
i recall my older brother saying that, as a teenager..when this song was a hit.
Tho' he passed away quite recently, he wasn't old...i have the best memories of him..💙..'my only true brother..until we meet again bro..miss u to pieces 'til i see you again..💔.
How about Richard Marx
hold my beer
I can listen to Rick Springfield 24/7 and never get tired of listening to him
Been a long time fan since Speak to the sky
Me 2
Just saw Rick last night..still rocks hard...♥️💯
I agree totally, 80's the best ever. Never will we ever be so blessed
80s Best Music 🎶 ❤❤❤❤💜💜💜🎶🎶🎶
I miss the 80's
WANTED time machine to take me back to the 1980s
gaskan666 Me too friend. I'm totally off the songs currently posted. You can not save anything !!!
***** surely
+gaskan666 - I'll go too!
I will save you a seat when I get it ok
I wanna go! This was my decade! :)
His #9 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from the summer of 1983. It's my 2nd favorite song of his behind "Jessie's Girl".
Ricky is so underappreciated as a musician, human being, and actor.
why do you underappreciate him?
@@SKRooU2 ?
One of the best synthesizer intros of all time.
Why didn't we appreciate him more in his heyday? Compared to the crap on the radio nowadays, he's cutting edge.
I'm glad everyone seems to be catching on. I've always loved him
ONE OF THE REASONS HE WAS LOOKED DOWN ON A LITTLE WAS BECAUSE HE WAS ON A DAY TIME SOAP OPERA . IT MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE LESS OF A MUSICAL ARTIST AND MORE LIKE AN ACTOR TRYING TO BE A ROCK STAR .HE'S COOL BUT THIS IS PRETTY COMMERCIAL AND HE WON'T EVER MAKE THE HALL OF FAME BASED ON SONGS LIKE THIS ..I STILL LIKE HIM AND THINK HE WAS A TALENT BUT THEY PUSHED HIS PRETTY BOY IMAGE A LITTLE TOO MUCH AND BECAUSE OF THAT MOST OF HIS FANS WERE CHICKS ...MY FRIENDS AND I WOULDN'T OF BEEN CAUGHT DEAD LISTENING TO THIS BECAUSE IT WAS CONSIDERED CHICK ROCK ...AS A 57 YEAR OLD I CAN ADMIT THESE THINGS AND GIVE HIM THE CREDIT HE DESERVES ...
This song always gives me chills.
Holy jesus he was a beautiful man.
+EdieSexwitch yes he was and hes still looking pretty good
+EdieSexwitch He is still a hunk!
+EdieSexwitch I can hear all you ladies sploosh!
Soap Opera stars usually are, the impressive thing is that between pop/ rock and several films, he transitioned flawlessly, made a small mint and then quit while at the pinnacle of his career.
+EdieSexwitch He aged pretty well. He's still quite beautiful and still pops up on General Hospital once in awhile.
OhI had Rick's posters in my room among other artists as a teenager. The 80's was a great era. I had so much fun going to great concerts 🎉🎉🎉. Now I'm a grandmother (Ita- short for abuelita- spanish). And both my children and grandchildren love the 80's music 🎶 ❤🎉🎉🎉
Have mercy!!! he's beautiful!!
YES!!!😍😍😍😍
He sure is my eye candy
agree.
You should have seen him in Real Life at a concert at that time
Remembering him playing Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital many, many moons ago.
I remember that 😁👍❤
@@b.k.r.doggielover5449 I wish the channel would’ve come in.... we lived in an area where ch.7( ABC) didn’t come in-😔

Sorry to hear that!❤
Rick Springfield is killer, been listening to him him for years. This is a great song, and he has many more.
I didn't know he was a serial killer. Damn that's scary. Just how many more did he kill?
Hey Paul.. I saw this concert, only heard his radio stuff, but the second the stage lights came on, I was blown away!! One of the best concerts I've been to. He's an Amazing performer, I saw him again maybe 4 yes ago, he's 70 and still rocked it.. I miss the 80s music, I was in my 20s and musically the best times!!
Mannnn I love me some Rick Springfield. LOVE his music and he has ALLOT different races that love his music...and I'm one of them. Loved seeing you on General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake
Love his songs. Miss those days I was a teen in the 80's that's why I mainly watch 80's official music videos It brings back such wonderful memories. 🙂
God That 80's drum Miss those days it hurts.
These days so called artists can't even play an instrument lol... everything is synthesized
Gorgeous and talented. His songs can put me anywhere in or out of the world! His videos although made back then, are like we have not yet reached that future. Timeless.
Very underrated group! Great music!
35 years later I decided I needed to hear this song again and I'm glad I did
I will never forget seeing him in concert in the 80’s!
My friend and I were so madly in love with him!
I remember my Aunt, paused his chores and screaming everytime Rick Springfield song showed in MTV. Now i know why? He's a heartrob.
this is my favorie Rick Springfield song
Strong contender for Rick's best record.
This song comes off the best Rick Springfield album ever recorded, in my opinion. "Living in Oz" is his true masterpiece, even though Rick, himself likes "Tao", released in 1985, the best of all his work. Released in 1983, "Living in Oz" is gritty and heavy, a true Rock album to it's very core. It's the album that really got me listening to ALL of his music. Rick Springfield is one of the most talented and underrated songwriters/musicians of our time and truly deserves a place in the Rock Hall of Fame. Rick is still a force to be reckoned with today at 70 years young! Still making great music and touring! Hoping to catch him live this Summer!
He is still my favorite:)I had living in oz,tao and living in oz cassette albums! hard to hold movie is definitely worth watching! always wanted to see him in concert!:)
I totally agree
totally agree! Living in Oz is amazing
I hope that I can make it to a show. I remember rocking out at age 5 to Rick. I'm now 45.
I had, "Working Class Dog", "Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet", "Living in Oz" and "Tao" 33 albums. Had the "Hard To Hold" soundtrack on cassette. I had one more of his albums in LP format. Can't recall the title but it had the song, "Bruce", on it and I have his greatest hits on CD. I loved his music and really felt that he was incredibly underrated as a musician. When most people think of Rick Springfield, they think of, "Jessie's Girl". Great song but he was so much more than that song. He's still one of my favorite male artists of all time. I would say that, "Living In Oz" and "Tao", were probably my favorite two albums of his.
Maybe it was a time when we thought we’d be young forever. That didn’t happen. At least we have the music. Unreal singer!
One of the greatest singers&songwritters&musicians EVER ! One of the many reasons the 80s were the GREATEST MUSICAL DECADE EVER !!!!!
100%
I remember Noah Drake from general hospital. My nephew was on that show. Go Rick! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
My mom would blast Rick Springfield in the car and I went to his concert when I was 5. I'm 17 now and listening to this again makes me nostalgic
Still listening 🎧🎶 2023 😍💃🕺🎤🥁🎹🎸📽️🎙️📻📼
Im African American & for some reason every since i was a kid i thought Rick Springfield was the coolest white man on the planet. & i loved his movies.lol
***** I know Chuck Berry & Little Richard started the rock & roll sound but if i was to be a white dude Rick or George Michaels is who i would want to be to pull some white girls.
sniperjay0916 shame you don't Ellen.lol
***** get at me then Ellen & be my friend on another social level.
sniperjay0916 George Michael is as gay as they come.
It's doesn't really matter to me, but I still remember when he came out or he was caught in the public restroom with another man. Most women fans stop listening to his music and they were the main fan base. I know it's sound absurd to you, but after that his fan base was pretty much turn off and his fame started to declined. The sales declined pretty hard too.
The 80's were the best time of my life!! The music was unbelievable, so many great artists!!! Me and my girlfriends would dance all over the place!!!! We saw so many Concerts, it was so amazing!!! Rick is so cute, and sings beautifully.. ❤️❤️.. 💃💃💃.. 🌹🌹🌹.....
This songs brings back alot of memories from 1983 I was 11 years old and in 4th grade I love this song thank you for posting this Awesome song im 50 years old now If I had a time machine I would go back to the 80s especially 1985 and stay there and never come to this hell that were living in now
I wish we could go back To then when music WAS music!! Love this song ! One of the best of RICK!
Why he has special place....he was playing USO shows for US troops in Vietnam as a kid. An Aussie no less.
I remember back when the Aussies were tied very close with us in the US. Rebels against England in their own right.
Love Aussies.
Ill never forget I was 8 years old and went to see him in concert. He picked me up and put me on the speaker and when this song came on I almost peed me pants from the electric guitar...best memory ever'¡
The most beautiful man to have ever walked this Earth
Heck yeah!!
There was a local cover band in South SanFran that covered this, and at the time I was dating “the one that got away”. This flooded me with memories, all good, thank you.
Best rockstar of the 80s Rick Springfield ❤️🥰💕🎶🎵🎸🤘🏻
Caught him at a free concert earlier this summer at a amusement park ...voice still good after all these years. Was pleasantly surprised that he could play guitar so well...he tore off some guitar solos that were very impressive
Amazing performer and guitarist. I've got my ticket to see him in June. 4th time
He still looks great too.
Lucky Dog I wish I could have been there I opulent g because of work he had a concert in Booneville Mo .
You were so lucky 2 catch that free concert I’m jealous!
Guitar solo was by Tim Pierce
I'm 53 and I couldn't agree more!!
love love love love love
"I don't have to look any further than into your eyes."
I was a teen when I saw him play live; incredible show! Wish I could see him again.
Lost my mother in 1983, February. But so much great music came out then it helped get me through that time of mourning and loss. This being a example.
Rick was all over the place in the 80’s 😎
Super awesome...how great did Rick look? Wow!!
Lori Lyn
Everybody did look great in the 80's ,!
I love the dynamic synth sounds !
OMG I still have such a huge crush on Rick! My hubby hates him, lol
lol!
My wife never cared for him, I've been a fan since high school.

im a dude with a wife and 2 kids . Rick is awesome . teen magazines f´d him up . he was 33 in teen mags . wtf ? he writes all of the lyrics and music parts . he got no respect . i met him and he is a cool dude .
I absolutely love this song. I've listened to it 356 times in the past two days. I'm in 8th grade and was born in 2002. You'll never find someone quite like me, who has this big of a passion for the eighties and many other decades. Rick Springfield's legend keeps going on. He's amazing. He and his wife look great together.
Rock on my friend❤❤
LOTS of great music in the 80's. Good for you, having amazing taste in music. Rock on, Sophia!
🤟🏼
You have great taste in music! MUCH respect from a child of the 80’s, lol.
Ooooo I miss the 80’s ❤️ one wall covered with posters of Rick, the other wall covered with Barry Manilow and then the wall of Ratt 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💕
Ratt rocks!!!
Just seen him in concert this summer! 74 years old and still looks and performs great!
Is it weird that I'm 13 yrs old and I like listening to classic rock music
No it's not weird.
Absolutely not! You have excellent taste. ♥️
Being 13, what do you consider “classic rock”? Cuz being 50 myself, it hurts my soul to hear all my favorites from my youth being played on the classic rock stations... LOL
It's RAD dude! you have excellent taste!
@@spacenerd9499 I'm 15 I just listen to heavy metal now
Look it up , '83 was an incredible year for music. All the genres available on your local FM stations. It really open the door to the greatest decade.
Totally agree! Well worded!
That's the year I graduated, and although I'll be 57 this year, I can honestly say that there hasn't been any decade come close to the awesomeness that was the last couple of years of the 70's and ALL of the 80's! I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!
Understated guitar solo fit the song perfectly. Takes some talent to propose that!
My first boyfriend and I danced to this song at a dance at school. It was the best. I actually miss him (my first love) Thanks for writing this song Rick Springfield!
One of the most beautiful men ever
Oh yes! Stunning.. had such a crush on him..
Memories spring summer BIG 1983. Where did it all go? My God a lifetime ago. 😢
THE START OF THE SONG IS GOOD AND AS ALL THE SONGS OF THE 80'S..🎸♪
12 more days before I get to see him at the Fair in 2023. I So can't wait. ❤ ❤ ❤
I remember back in 1981 when Rick Springfield came to San Antonio to perform! It put me in a situation because it just happen that Rick James was also performing! When I stood in line to purchase my tickets there were mostly black people in line! Every person when they got to the ticket booth ask for Rick James! I dont know why but when I got to the ticket booth I raise my voice Nd said Rick and hesitated for a few seconds and then with a proud tone said Springfield! It was funny because the ones that heard me started to boo! But it was in a friendly manner! Never forget that moment!
I am 50 and my music education started with the records of my mom and sister. I remember it like yesterday. Mid 70s to the mid 80s were eye opening for me. Loved it
Killer tune with all those changes and textures. Great back story behind the writing too.
Been a fan since when I was a little girl lived in Taiwan. I managed saved up all my lunch money, and bus fares to purchased his "working class dogs" album. And then, wrote him a love letter sent it to his fan mail address. LOL. Wish I can turn back the time.
I had a crush on him ..always loved the voice ..and the looks ...xo
I had forgotten about Rick... until his lyrics popped into my head
Friday night videos I watched Rick Springfield T-shirt in jr high❤️🎧💋🌹🥰🎶🎸🎸🎸
This is still one of Rick's COOLEST songs and videos of all time!
This Song Went To Number 9 On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart In 1983.
Please God let me relive my life one more time I was in 9th grade 1981 when this song came out
Tim Pierce slayed that solo with one note and feedback
