Everybody talks about how Megan and Jonathan were the PERFECT casting for Anne and Gilbert....but the rest of the cast was perfect, as well. ESPECIALLY for Marilla, Matthew, Ms. Rachel and Diana.
Megan Follows is the ONLY ANNE for me ... PERFECT and so are all the other Fantastic Actors & Actresses' .... every one was just perfect for their role!!! I've watched other versions and they don't come even close to tis production!!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to all the Actors, Actresses', Directors, Producers, Crew ... EVERYONE ..... U all made HISTORY with this Production and made all watch it soooooo HAPPY!!! Sad that some of the actors & actresses have passed away.
Seeing the scene of Anne and Diana standing on top of the cliff in PEI is fascinating to me because my husband and I went to that place in PEI last summer. It was a breathtaking views but there was only one quite narrow dirt road in to get to the cliff and it was nerve wracking to drive on. When cars were trying to drive out while you’re driving in and you both have to pull over to let each other pass but you practically end up in a field by doing so. Lol All I could think of when we finally got to Cape Tryon was how in the heck did they get all the film trucks and equipment in here. I also wondered which exact cliff Anne and Diana stood on. I think I might have guessed correctly but we unfortunately couldn’t get over to it but I’m not sure I was right on which one it was. I’ll never forget our trip to PEI. I had dreamed of going there since I first saw the movie when I was a kid. It was a dream come true and I’m so glad we bought the filming locations in PEI guide book as we pretty much made it to all but 2 locations. It was magical!
Omg, I need to buy this Dvd! This movie is my favorite and it's so special to me! I love Megan Follows and this special movie! I also love what Megan said about how she always wanted to be like a family with people she works with! I feel the same way! Thanks for posting this!! ❤❤

45 years later, as Catherine d’Medici, Megan is still perfect & in attitude & smile she hasn’t seemed to age. In Aus, we were SO thrilled to see this, as this book was such a beautiful world. the director brought it perfectly to life.
Everyone who was involved in this production should feel so good knowing how many people love love love this film! this is my favorite movie of all time! The actors the director all the support people should know that their work in this film has blessed so many people and continues to give a gift that is so rare in the world of entertainment today. That was wonderful. To watch how they pulled it all together to create this masterpiece was a joy to watch. Megan really was the best casting choice for the role but everyone else was too, from best-boy to producer. This mini series was vastly more than the sum of its parts.
Anne Shirley has been my most inspirational character for all of my life and this was the film that introduced me to her at three years old. I can’t remember my life without Anne! ❤
They knew they had a hit in the making before the audience had even seen it, and how right they were. A phenomenal story brought to life by a phenomenal cast. I’ve watched it so many times, it’s a classic.
Watching these scenes being taped, brought tears of childhood ways. Anne absolutely nailed the essence of an orphaned girl. I have seen in my life orphaned children. But I think when we are adolescent girls go through a lot of emotions. Anne of green gables stirred a lot of unspoken words in our own lives, actually in my own life that I had to process. The author L. M. Montgomery and the books bring tears in my eyes. She touched my soul like no other author. Anne of Green Gables will always be my most cherished books. I have to thank all the actors specially Meghan Fellows. Gilbert Blythe, Colleen Dewhurst, Mathew’s, Mrs Lynde and of course Kevin Sullivan and his crew who have worked so tirelessly. Thanks everyone once again and may you all be blessed always as this movie will go on forever.

This was my favourite film series among the productions adapted from the novel Anne of Green Gables, although the sequel to the series in 2000 made me think a little, I can easily say that looking at the whole series, this film series is better than the Netfilx production, although some scenes in the script are different from the original text in the novel, I am sure that this will still be the most popular adaptation, at least there is no made-up scene about LGBT, Netfilx has publicly insulted the author of the novel in this regard, in my opinion.
I adore this movie! Great memories of watching it with my mom growing up. I haven't read the books so I don't know how much was directly taken but the character writing is fantastic
My goodness I can’t believe it’s been 40 years! I remember the first time I saw this production of Anne Green Gables. I was just a girl, but I fell madly in love with Prince Edward Island and the time period. Celluloid collars, and organza dresses! I still get sentimental when I watch it.
I loved who they chose to play Anne, Gilbert, Diana, Matthew, and Marilla. They all were fabulous actors. R.I.P Jonathan Crombie, Richard Farnsworth, and Colleen Dewhurst
The ads on this are brutal. Waaay too many and they blast loudly which wouldn't be an issue except the audio on this is so quiet it's a really bad contrast. Disappointing Sullivan :'(
Many years ago, I was a regular extra on a US TV show called “Strong Medicine” in Los Angeles. I found out from my second AD, that Megan Follows was on the show the previous day, the one day that I was not working and mind you, I pretty much worked everyday. I so much wanted to meet “Anne”. 😢
I love this movie, it takes fear out of uncertainties for a lot of young girls who might be in this same painful situation. God bless the writer & actress & actors who helped create this Movie. when in this year of 2024 with a very bad Democratic hateful usa
I got rid of all my VHS a long time ago, even if you can find a video player (which is unlikely) the tapes were almost nothing but white line's through the screen lol

That production was the epitome of pure, wholesome and quality television entertainment. The casting, acting, music and scenery were superb! Although geared for a younger audience, I, an old bachelor at 55 years watched and marveled at the the episodes presented on PBS in 1985. Now at 84 and still a much older bachelor and still old "softie" enjoy watching "Anne" from time to time. Especially listening to Haygood Hardy's wonder theme.
