I followed this video to create a succulent arrangement for a charity event at my workplace. The arrangement was absolutely gorgeous and the new mom it was gifted to just loves it! I figured it was a perfect, low-maintenance gift to donate to a brand new mom and she said that it’s added so much joy to her sunroom ❤ thank you for helping me help someone else! Much love from El Paso, Texas 🤠🌵🏜
Holly, you made my day! How marvelous that the video could have such a lovely ripple effect...with the perfect recipient in Texas, no less! Thank you 😘
im so glad i have so many little plants i didnt put in the landscape so i can go do this.i have been hoarding succulents like toilet paper for the pandemic
I love this mounded container. Love it. Because sempervivum can be both indoor and outdoor plants, could this be planted in the fall? I live in a zone 3 area. And would bring the container inside at sign of first frost.
Yes, but they'll be happier outdoors. They should be able to handle frost, in fact semps prefer a climate with cold winters. But perhaps Zone 3 is a bit too cold for some of them, and they won't want much rainfall. Check when you order them.
Hi Katherine -- It depends on how shallow it is and how quickly it's likely to dry out in your climate. With root balls sitting atop the soil, plants can usually take a good drenching if allowed to nearly dry out between waterings. Otherwise, yes, drain holes are best or at the very least, several inches of pumice to absorb excess moisture (not the same thing as drainage, obviously, but better than nothing).
Like most succulents, they they keep their color and shape better outside. With adequate light and air circulation (helps keep pests off them), they'll grow indoors for several weeks to several months, depending on the season. Dear Debra, It is me again, Linnea Lion of LION-ARTED. I LOVE the doorknobs! I have always included non-plant accoutrements in my container gardens or what some might refer to as dish garden jewelry. I feel the addition of non-plant elements add such a wonderful textural and colorful feature to the plantings. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to use all plants. Shells, rocks, glazed ceramics such as your Costco doorknobs, pieces of coral, small metal sculptures, glass, the options are endless add so much interest. Your videos are endlessly informative and help me drive home the information I verbally give to my clients. Sometimes they do not understand or grasp the concepts I express to them and your videos are so helpful. Thank you for all that you do!

I’ve recently developed somewhat of an obsession with these little cuties. Thank you for the lovely idea…🤗
You're welcome! Always happy to feed a succulent obsession!
Lovely❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lovely arrangement of succulent plants 👍🏻 Thank you Debra 🌹
The doorknobs are a delightful, insouciant addition that elevates this arrangement to art. Love it!
Thank you! Love your word choice.
Thank you Debra, what a great idea to put ornate knobs in the arrangement. It adds a little something special to it.
Thanks, Penny. That was the idea, but I wondered if it would simply come across as odd or silly. Really appreciate the thumb's up.
I am in love with this arrangement! So clever with the doorknobs. They blend in perfectly but bring intrigue to the arrangement. Brilliant!
Glad you like them!
Beautiful!! I love the plants and the door knobs. Excellent colors.
Thanks, Kathy. I was afraid the door knobs would go horribly wrong, ha.
Thank you for this upload, Debra! It just lightened up my day!✨💜
Hugs, JD!
Soothing and satisfying! Glad you are using hardy succulents in arrangements. I hope mine survive and multiply outside. Have a Merry Christmas!
Yes, time to use the hardies. Same to you!
Debra Lee Baldwin 😊🌿
Came out lovely!!
Thanks, Jane!
I love it! I'm definitely gonna try making one. Thank you for a great video!
You're very welcome, Karen! Thanks for the thumb's up!
Did you ever make it???
Fabulous and spectacular...
Aw, thanks!

I love it. Thanks for teaching us to make arrangements like this one.
Thanks, Miriam! I'm glad.

LOL
Lovely 🥰
So beautiful. I was concerned that they are going to be root bound right away? Does not look like they have a lot of room to continue growing.
Not at all. They have a LOT of soil below their root balls.
Great video and channel 👍🙂🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
Oh so pretty!
Thank you, Cindy!
Thank you for the trick to this arrangement
It's such a good one. And so simple.
Beautiful!
Thanks, Dori!

Thanks, Sheila! Love all the exclamation points!
Just beautiful !!!! Thank you.
Many thanks!
Did you discuss how to prevent air pockets with this type planting?
Yes, at 3:54.
Thanks for the beautiful idea 🤗 Ont think I could afford such a large one but maybe they will multiply enough to be similar

Question.. in a birdbath for example, what happens if it gets overwatered? Do you have any drainage holes or drainage system for it?

Thanks, cousin!
What happens when the chicks start to grow?
They fill in gaps and trail over the side of the pot beautifully!

Just lovely! Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if this would survive indoors? Do these plants need to be outside?
