Hey guys If I was intelligent I would've made a comment like this a month ago when I uploaded this video, but I didn't really expect this to get much traction outside of a small community. So firstly, just wanna say thanks for stopping by, watching the video, liking, subbing, following my twitch, and etcetera. Recently broke 800 followers on Twitch, and the feedback on this video has made me realize that there is definitely an interest for this kind of content that I did not expect. Secondly, (again talking about Twitch) once Nitro Fueled comes out, I plan to do open lobbies with viewers and friends. This will start on PS4 and if there's enough interest I might include Switch and Xbox One (I'll for sure be buying it on PS4 and Switch. PS4 for primary purposes and Switch for breaks at work). So, if this is something you're interested in taking part in, or just spectating, go follow me on Twitch. Third, I'll also be playing through Nitro Fueled max% live on stream when it comes out. This will most likely be exported to TH-cam later on. If I end up really enjoying the game and there isn't some ridiculous unfun speedtech that makes speedrunning that game more annoying than fun, I'll most likely end up doing speedruns of the game as well. Lastly, since there seems to be interest in CTR99, I think I'm gonna try to do a series of video guides for beating oxide times (and generally improving) for every track. Though I don't consider myself a time trialer and dont do a lot of the crazy skips some people do, I did use time trials to improve at the game, and making a point to beat every oxide time without any unintended shortcuts was my first stepping stone to improvement, and i think its a great way for everyone to get better.
the standard turbo item, to my knowledge, gives the same speed and reserves as a 3 MT slide. juiced up it counts like a turbo pad and will give SF. Masks don't do anything with boost/reserves, just basically increases your speed by a flat amount for the duration of the mask.
So how are speed ghosts different in nitro fueled? I honestly probably shouldn’t have watched this video because I’ve never played ctr before and now I’m going to try to pull this off and fail, but it was super interesting. And your voice sounds nice.
I can't really say for certain cuz I haven't played NF at all but the game seems to treat downhills and uphills different fundamentally. In OG, all that matters is the actual geometry that your wheels are on, NF looks like it programmed whole sections to give faster speed whether in the air or on the ground. Take that with a grain of salt though since I haven't played the game myself and don't know if that's 100% the case.
iTheDashy so will you make video about it when it comes out? And that would make sense bc the small polys of going downhill wouldn’t help anymore. But they at least kept the other mechanics, right?
At the very least I'll be uploading my first playthrough of the game here in it's entirety (or in a couple parts because max% might take like 10 hours or something with all these new tracks to do time trials for) As far as speedtech stuff goes, I might make another video in a similar style for NF a few weeks after it comes out. Don't really wanna make a whole video talking about speed stuffs right away and then a few days later we find something else that makes the video basically irrelevant. From my understanding though most other stuff is still in the game.

I had watched a different video to explain Sacred Fire and USF but came away not quite understanding it. This one has a good explanation and demonstration of how to get it, how to maintain it, and how to tell when it's lost or still in play. Very useful!
Just started wrapping my head around this (knew about it for awhile) and Im actually finally beating Oxides ghosts on tracks.(even my ghost from the race before are beating him!) Something I was never able to do as a kid! This is insane!
i also speedrun this game. i didn't know about any of the advanced tech until earlier this year despite having played the game for at least 15 years. my time is a tied 74th place in any% warpless right now and im satisfied with that because my goal was just to get top 100. i've played the CTR demo at gamestop and watched basically every bit of gameplay i could, so i'm going to confirm a few things for Nitro-Fueled. 1) we can still u-turn! or at least, in the build I played you could. I've not seen any gameplay online of someone doing it, but if you hold L1 and Spam R1 while doing a u-turn, it produces the same result as in the original, which is AMAZING. 2) speedghosts are still in although they seem slightly weaker. Hard to really say because they weren't in the demo build that I played, but I saw them in action in some gameplay of a more recent build. 3) in the older build you can't jump nearly as frequently as the original, but i think they've fixed that a bit in the later builds 4) reserves are noticeably weaker. they're harder to build up initially since they run out faster, but it basically works the same way, it just doesn't last as long. probably for balance, who knows. 5) USF NO LONGER GETS CANCELED WHEN YOU BOOST! this is my favorite new change to the game. there also seems to be more USF pads than before, as there is one at the end of Polar Pass now. but yeah, being able to maintain USF until you hit a wall is HUGE! it was super fun on polar pass and i'm sure it'll be even more fun on other tracks.
The build I’ve played may be a little newer but yea most these issues you addressed have been fixed and the reserves actually work and last longer than the OG they made it easier to just build speed and boost its very nice
Thank you for explaining how to do 'froggying'. I've seen people do it against me in online races and maintain high speeds but couldn't for the life of me figure out how or why it works. Now I can beat those guys. :D
@@Angels-Haven we since left the apartment and he moved back to his home state. but he’s coming back to visit soon and we both agreed we gotta play that game again! we used to talk so much shit to each other and coco but mostly coco lmao good times

Thanks for all the knowledge ypu spreaded in this video! Back then when I used to play CTR, I didnt even know you could mini turbo off of drifts. I'm really hyped for the new game and I hope it becomes just as broken as the original, same thing they did with the spyro remaster. Have a nice day aswell! =D
So in Nitro-Fueled you can have USF (Blue Fire) basically forever since drift-boosting makes the Blue Fire last longer instead of bringing your speed down to the drift-boost speed (the way it worked in the original CTR). Is that better or worse?
Far worse imo. Turns it into a snowball game where one mistake means you might as well quit. Furthermore, it removes the trade off of deciding whether to dump your entire reserve on a good USF or keep some for later at a lower tier fire.
Lol I had no idea people called it Sacred Fire, we've got tech names now! When I played this with my brother we would get these turbos, but I had no idea there were tech names for them. But you know what? This is one of the reasons I like CTR a little more than Mario Kart, because this game actually has an interesting skill ceiling and skill floor, and it's so much fun when you get to that ceiling, you know?
I know what you're talking about, me and my brother always called the masks "boogies" because of the noise they made when you used them lol. Beakers were potions as well, because that's just how they looked.
Basically you wanted to explain this in their remastered, but you forget that they already explained it way before this remastered released. The one who explained all of this was Nyxx, CTR speed expert and Tiziano was the one who demonstrated all of them. USF was very rare and can only found of certain areas like Last big iump on Polar Pass, some turbo ramp N-Gin labs and of course TURBO TRACK for the famous USF on every turbo-pads. SF and the others was very easy to differentiate because it has several conditions to meet before getting it, but on remastered version, you cant see speedometer anymore so you need sharp memories for each speed.
wow i havnt been looking at CTR content online. i've been playing this game for 13 years. i've been calling secret fire stage two engin burn out and max overdrive. and I called frogging the bunny hop. I did frogging a bit diferently using only one of the sholder buttons not both. I have some funny glitches i've experienced when i was a kid. playing with my brother on cortex castle. the first ramp we always fell off on purpous, leaving tnt, nitro and the beakers in mid air over the pit then drive into them. and after running into them a bunch of times it caused 3 differret glitches when respawning. the characer and cart goes invisible except for the wheels. the entire character moddle gets squished flat. The wheels dissapear making it look like you are hovering.
Oh my god, your play is so beautiful to watch. That's a lot of tricks that I can see on this video. Those jumpings really do some tricks there. I don't know if those tricks still can do something in Nitro Fueled, but hey, it won't hurt to try them in the Nitro Fueled
Finally! I found another CTR channel You play pretty well and you explained well how to make sacred fire I'm going to watch your channel a lot :) I'd like to play with you on CTR: nitro-fueled :D
Having played the reboot some consecutive days now, I need to check if all of these shortcuts are still present. Especially the drop off on the bridge (crash cove) into the little jump (more boooost).
So just to clarify, the reserve system is basically me trying to extend the duration of each boost performed? Each additional boost I perform will last longer than the previous given that I constantly boost?
All these years I've wondered why the enemy AI always speeds ahead of me after the superturbo pad. I always jumped at that point so it cancels it out. Thank you for posting this !
Do I need to perform a mini turbo over a boost pad in order to activate Sacred Fire? Someone told me if I just drove over the boost pad I would get it automatically without having to do anything.
You get Sacred Fire just by going over a Turbo Pad. However to /maintain/ that speed, you need to have reserves (as described in this video). If you have plenty (for example, on Coco Park, if you wait until the last Turbo Pad to hit one) then there's no need to do mini turbos. If you have none (for example, Mystery Caves where the pads are pretty much right at the start) then you should be doing mini turbos over them so that you don't run out of reserves and lose the speed.
I've played this game since its release but i never knew about this stuff and i have no idea if I'll ever be able to do them. I always wondered why speed runners used coco and not tiny or dingo and my guess is because of their handling. I can beat the time trials in the original without problems but i noticed that in nitro fuel they are way harder. Or maybe it's just me being bad
Sacred Fire? Someone was playing Pokemon Gen 2 at the point of catching Ho-oh when his firned was playing CTR? Why not call another thing the "Shadow Burning Step of Turbo Speed EX Alpha"

You basically want the momentum of going downhill whenever the surface flatens. So when the surface flatens or evens out you do that spam + hold one jump button
Okay, the CTR have much more techniques like: Sacred Fire USF Speed Ghost Blue fire Ultimate Blue Fire Reserves Air Brake U-Turn Froggy jump, Perfet frame jump. These techniques has been aprimorated since 2011 with good youtubers like: Deep Matheus December TheRedHotBr Jordy E-Arky etc.
I managed to learn everything you described as well as all intended and even a few unintended shortcuts (Blizzard bluff, Polar pass, Skyway) by myself, back at the PS1. No internet, no community, just by playing. That is something that no longer happen, new gen gamers go to the internet if they stay 1 minute without knowing how to do something. Learning everything by myself and building muscle memory made me very good at this game back then, I think I still play decently.
lmfao I honestly didn't even notice that. This video was edited pretty lazily. All I did was boot the game up and ran a time trial on a few tracks while recording, then cut up all the footage and used some of the excess to fill the space, not really paying attention to where the clips were being cut off lmao
I NEED to learn this stuff for Nitro Fueled. I played Nitro Kart when I was 8 back in 2010 on the PS2 and I don't think that game had Sacred Fire or USF so I have 0 experience in this kind of system...
It’s so weird, I played this game religiously and it always used to annoy me watching the bots over-take me at N gun labs. Now 22 years or so later I finally know why, you don’t boost you just run over with reserves! Here’s another thing: The AI don’t jump the same
Good video, though I can recommend maybe writing a script for videos in the future. You have good knowledge and you're interesting to listen to, but when talking off the cuff your points can ramble on and lose clarity. Simply taking a few moments to concisely plot out what you want to say will massively increase the quality of your videos in the future. Keep it up!
Huh so that's what USF is. I always knew about that specific boost pad in N. Gin Labs would help you reach ridic speed in that area, but there are more?
I knew how to drift and boost when I first played the original on a PSX emulator, but I don’t go nearly as fast as you do and I use the same character too.
Jesus Christ . I played Papus Pyramid alot and I have not seen that many short cuts . Amazing . I probably wouldn't have been able to pull off that . And I played for years . Lol
he is supposed to say that when you get USF you need to try to not get boost from jumps. here is how to cancel USF: - turboslide boost - hit a normal turbopad (super turbopads are fine) - jump boost - press square button - crash on a wall - fall outside the track. if you dont do any of the above you are good to go
So all this stuff will actually be in the game? Reserves, SF, USF, Frogging and ghosting? I was really worry that they erased this mechanics, it adds some nice + to the game itself, i just hope it will be as close as the original game mechanics
Kinda. They're being "used" constantly whether you have fire (mini turbo speed), sacred fire (over a turbo pad), or anything other level of speed. They're gained by slide boosting, and the reserves just define how long you'll hold that speed without performing another boost.
I am trying to get the speed boost off the last jump on corex castle like you did in the video but it does not work. as soon as I land the speed just drops. Is this character specific?
Nope. But I will say Cortex Castle is the hardest USF to keep. not sure why, but it was the last of the 4 tracks with USF that I was able to keep consistently. All I can really say is to make sure your mini turbos are as full as possible and try to do them as full 3 in a row rather than 1 or 2 then restarting the slide.
Square + Down + [direction you want to turn] = U-Turn U-Turn + Froggy = U-Turn without losing speed (will still make you lose sacred fire) I need to do commentary for the time trials I talked about in the pinned comment still but I'll be showing off the U-Turns and a few other things in that video.
Played this a ton as a kid, never realised the usf trick/mechanic. I wonder will all these subtle mechanics be in nitro fueled? Personally, i hope they remove some of the big shortcuts but keep the complicated boost mechanics
I'm part of the group that's really glad to see the shortcuts blocked off, but that's because I don't do the majority of them in runs, and the ones that I do have ruined my runs countless times (papu fence skip especially)
Yes however Nitro Fueled has quite a big difference with super turbos, that being powerslides and regular turbo pads no longer override/reset your boost to normal, combine that with braking in mid-air/mid-hop to make tighter turns without killing your boost and now on tracks like N Gin Labs you'll be able to super turbo the entire lap if you're good, you're probably going to need it to beat Adventure 100% on hard and you'll really need it to beat Oxide's ghosts especially on the Nitro Kart tracks.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I was really hoping that USF would still be a thing, this sounds like a lot of fun.
i purposely avoid learning how to go mach 1 in CTR because my roommate and i play it 2-3 times a week and i don’t want to just SWAMP him in every race
Teach him.
bahlsen03 it’ll just take the fun out of it besides going SUPER fast that would be awesome! i just can’t trust myself with that knowledge

Dude I'm so pumped for Nitro Fueled it's not even funny!
I remember beating all the Oxide time trials and was so excited to unlock oxide. Instead, I unlocked scrapbook on the main screen. Such a disappointment.
The online mode of Nitro Fueled gonna be on fire for next couple of years!

@@cpjh4491 I get a lobby every time i search for one, although i usually don't even finish bc there's that one really good guy
be honest, you use Coco cause she's adorable
Guilty as charged.
Info and videos like this are necessary. Thank you for your explanation on the subject
Wht Blueberry boogah-boogahs for my family, bottles for the beakers lol
@@feudela4357 boobadagas for my brother and I, cause that's what it sounded like akuaku was saying lol
Great information! This is what I show to my friend lol.
No need to explain how ctr works or for rather how to go fast in ctr.
Thanks!
So they actually made USF BETTER in the remake.
I love it.
Oh my god, your play is so beautiful to watch. That's a lot of tricks that I can see on this video. Those jumpings really do some tricks there. I don't know if those tricks still can do something in Nitro Fueled, but hey, it won't hurt to try them in the Nitro Fueled
Finally!
I found another CTR channel
You play pretty well and you explained well how to make sacred fire
I'm going to watch your channel a lot :)
I'd like to play with you on CTR: nitro-fueled :D
Man, Sacred Fire is a really cool name for a tech.
sacred combo in melee is another
It's Ho-Oh's signature move
20 years ago, there weren't any tutorials, you had to find it out by yourself. This was my favorite videogame.
Having played the reboot some consecutive days now, I need to check if all of these shortcuts are still present. Especially the drop off on the bridge (crash cove) into the little jump (more boooost).
that shortcut on papus pyramid was insaneeeee, brb trying this on nitro fueled
It's an unintentional shortcut. Pretty sure Beenox would have patched it.
Did it work?
So just to clarify, the reserve system is basically me trying to extend the duration of each boost performed? Each additional boost I perform will last longer than the previous given that I constantly boost?
yes
@@iTheDashy Thank you
Never consciously knew about reserves but it explains a lot in hindsight.
All these years I've wondered why the enemy AI always speeds ahead of me after the superturbo pad. I always jumped at that point so it cancels it out. Thank you for posting this !
I learned about these techniques a few days ago and this only helped me to understand it a little bit more, thanks.
If you have none (for example, Mystery Caves where the pads are pretty much right at the start) then you should be doing mini turbos over them so that you don't run out of reserves and lose the speed.
thanks for the help now to master these tricks when CTRNF comes out
I've played this game since its release but i never knew about this stuff and i have no idea if I'll ever be able to do them.
Why not call another thing the "Shadow Burning Step of Turbo Speed EX Alpha"
holy shit I've been doing Sacred Fire without knowing it? I wanted to see a video of what Sacred Fire looks like in action and found out that this I what I've been doing without even knowing. XD Cant wait for CTR Nitro Fueled though!
If your tail pipe ain't spewing out fire constantly, ya ain't playing CTR right.
@@BoostedMonkey05 facts right there XD
@@paultaylor_yt3577 got accused of cheating by family for achieving sacred fire
@@BoostedMonkey05 XD thats what was like we used to play the game in our family with those cheap shortcuts too and it's like "just get good at the game" lol.
@@paultaylor_yt3577 I didn't use shortcuts though but I assure you I got cheating accusations just because of power slide spamming as I tried to retain sacred fire
This is so informative! It cured my student loan debt! It gave me infinite money! I'm so glad that I know that with twitch prime I can subscribe to my favorite streamer for free every month. Thank you iTheDashy!
ok, this is epic
So for frogging, you basically press one hop button, then the other, rinse and repeat?
Just hold one hop button and mash the other.
So like for me, because I'm right hand dominant, I hold L1 and then just repeatedly tap R1.
You basically want the momentum of going downhill whenever the surface flatens. So when the surface flatens or evens out you do that spam + hold one jump button
Okay, the CTR have much more techniques like:
Sacred Fire
USF
Speed Ghost
Blue fire
Ultimate Blue Fire
Reserves
Air Brake
U-Turn
Froggy jump,
Perfet frame jump.
These techniques has been aprimorated since 2011 with good youtubers like:
Deep
Matheus December
TheRedHotBr
Jordy
E-Arky
etc.
Glad to hear that all this new jargon my little brothers are throwing at me doesn't actually describe anything new.
5:57 Convenient cut before a USF pad 😉👌
lmfao I honestly didn't even notice that.
One thing I hope is that the button configuration stays the same because my muscle memory on this game is crazy
Slizz 2Thawizz good to know your wish came true then lol
It’s so weird, I played this game religiously and it always used to annoy me watching the bots over-take me at N gun labs. Now 22 years or so later I finally know why, you don’t boost you just run over with reserves! Here’s another thing: The AI don’t jump the same
Must powerslide be "perfect" to maintain saffifire?
A better way to explain reserves, would to think of you never wasting time trying to get another boost off, because it all stacks.
I still don't get it :( haha!
Keep it up!
This was well explained....I hope youl start making Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled videos :D
Does the Froggy-tech work in CTR NF though?
Decided to speedrun this game the other day and got 1:12, think these tricks will help
Huh so that's what USF is. I always knew about that specific boost pad in N. Gin Labs would help you reach ridic speed in that area, but there are more?
Are you implying that Sacred Fire is not a sweet name? (Thank you for the video detailing the details of the mechanics though.)
It's was funny doing all this stuff as a kid in my journey to beat all the Oxide times and not realizing they all had terms
Man your double jumping is just insane
As a long time ctr player i can definitely tell you are one of the very best players in this game
See on the tracks tomorrow fellas~
Coco is going to college
Why not use Ngin?
I never knew this back in the day! I was this skilled.
Jeez i just learned a heck of a lot. Tips and tricks didnt have this info back then lol
This was a good explanation, though props for that man.
Lol
For USF you say you don’t jump but your consistenly jumping I’m confused
he is supposed to say that when you get USF you need to try to not get boost from jumps.
here is how to cancel USF:
- turboslide boost
- hit a normal turbopad (super turbopads are fine)
- jump boost
- press square button
- crash on a wall
- fall outside the track.
if you dont do any of the above you are good to go
Can you keep blue fire in ctr99 like you do in nitro fueled?
Why does no use N.Gin to speed run? His stats are identical to Coco's.
He's ugly as fuck
So all this stuff will actually be in the game? Reserves, SF, USF, Frogging and ghosting? I was really worry that they erased this mechanics, it adds some nice + to the game itself, i just hope it will be as close as the original game mechanics
Don't think froggy is in NF but everything else you listed is in it, at least to some extent.
@@iTheDashy good to know this a cool video you gotta do the same video but when NF releases, keep it up!
Leaderboards (if they have any) are going to be fucking crazy in nitro-fueled.
0:46 Lol, I never turn this way.
Thanks boddy I subscribed and turned the notifications on and also followed your twitch
Great content
oh thank fuck for this explanation i've been stuck on this CTR n gin labs time trial forever
It's funny how spamming the jump button ended up being tech to keep your boost speed both in CTR and MK8
You're amazing, dude
I have a question, Dashy:
1.) Are you going to speedrun Crash Tag Racing: Nitro Fuel?
2.) Could this info be Useful for CTR:NF?
yes to both
How do you see the speed needle?
Great video, cool channel. I got the new ctr nitro on ps4. Does this work the same way ?
so basically reserves are “energy “ stored every time i slide boost and i can use them during speed pads by just going over them ?
@@iTheDashy I went to N gin labs and figured out exactly what you said in this post. I was not keeping a bigger pool of reserve boost
Wow this was a great video. Well explained
I didn't get how you slide fast (turn fast) using square on hot air track. Can u show us how?
Square + Down + [direction you want to turn] = U-Turn
U-Turn + Froggy = U-Turn without losing speed (will still make you lose sacred fire)
I need to do commentary for the time trials I talked about in the pinned comment still but I'll be showing off the U-Turns and a few other things in that video.
@@iTheDashy Good stuff, if there are clans or groups in the game Ill join up with ya and can have try-hard races against each other :)
I wish I learn how u do that turbo when turn it dosen't work with me 😥
Is that papu's pyramid shortcut still possible in the new game? I mean the one where you land behind the ending line
Thank you.
Great and simple explanation 👍
Okay, it's time for me to git gud. Or at least attempt really hard. Thx for the rundown!
Karters 2 hype ftw
i just figure it out for after 27 years i live, i don't even think about that boost when i was child play CTR
I don't speak well eenglish , i just wanna know if sacred fire , sapphi fire etc will be in nitro fuel ?
yes
People still dont know about "turbo blanco" or "white turbo"
the bad point on these techniques is only a few tracks can work well getting you less than a second and some tracks you need consistent perfection
Sewer speedway, hot air skyway, crash cove, roo's tubes is where I get consistent sacred fire
Can we talk About Nitro Fueled Speedruns?
So wait, are all these mechanics the same in the new one, or is this just for the OG?
They are the same, even better they are actually refined so you can easily get SF, but i dont think those god level SC in OG is still intact
Thank you for this! Very helpful!
So are all these mechanics in nitro fueled?
Yes however Nitro Fueled has quite a big difference with super turbos, that being powerslides and regular turbo pads no longer override/reset your boost to normal, combine that with braking in mid-air/mid-hop to make tighter turns without killing your boost and now on tracks like N Gin Labs you'll be able to super turbo the entire lap if you're good, you're probably going to need it to beat Adventure 100% on hard and you'll really need it to beat Oxide's ghosts especially on the Nitro Kart tracks.
