I came to the comments for the answer to this question. Where I live, if your local library doesn’t have what you’re looking for they will arrange for it to be supplied to them from another library.
A random day of activities is always a delight to watch. The title of this video literally sounds like a field trip I took as a kid in elementary school though 🤣. You’re never too old for books and history!
Thanks for taking us on this adventure Adam. I love the Disney history and watching you both get so excited about learning the new things. Keep up the great work!
That’s one massive library. There’s something about being able to rummage through books, cds, dvd/vhs, and especially vinyl with your own hands that brings joy. We used to spend hours at Tower Records. I recently got a card from our local library and have visit almost weekly. I hope you record future visits (for posterity :-) ) to that library showing unique finds.
Thanks Adam for one heck of a day with you and Micah now I feel that much better thanks again now with that being said peace ☮️ love ❤️ and happiness to you Adam and I’ll see you on the next vlog adventure wherever it takes you peace ☮️ out ✌️
You almost forget just how fantastic library 's are, I'm not a reader, but so much other stuff to enjoy, yep your definitely going to frequent that place a lot Adam
Omg when you said Hotel chain ‘Howard Johnson’s’ took me WAY back, as I am now 64, to my youth😍We would often go on road trips, many to FLorida and we often stayed at HoJo’s and their adjoining restaurants were our favorite! The HoJo ice cream sundaes were THE best!!!😍
I'm so glad you're having such a love affair with public libraries. It's a super-underrated portion of our communities that I firmly believe needs a lot more people backing them. I've been an avid supporter of my local library system ever since I can remember and since I'm a creative person, I save a lot of money checking out tools in the form of books and other physical and streaming media that aid me in my creative endeavors. In addition to those, they provide programs and activities to engage the community. I highly suggest using your Interlibrary Loan if you'd like to read up or possibly research further topics of vlogs in different states. Libraries work really hard to be an excellent source of information, and hopefully, if more people see this vlog, they'll be more inclined to revisit them with a different perspective. Thanks for sharing. Also, those DVD shelves are giving me some serious Blockbuster vibes! Thanks for the stickers by the way. I got them months ago, and I'm keeping them close to the chest.
What a fun filled day🙂I do believe you can return your Orange County library material at any Orange County library- there was one in Windermere. As Orange County residents, we get books and materials delivered to our home, wonder if that applies to you too? I love watching days that make you happy!
Adam you & Micah eb & flow together so well. He is by far my fav disnerd that you regularly collab with. Great Job. This was a fun one filled with “wonderful things”..😜
I have been hoping you would do a full video on the History Museum. My son and I used to go there often until we moved away in 2003. My favorite part was the tin can camping exhibit. One time we went there they were celebrating some kind of event and gave everyone a bowl of Mayfield ice-cream. I had thought that was the ice-cream that Ernest promoted, but no, that was Purity. Mayfield is good though. I also spent many hours in the downtown library doing genealogical research in the 1990's. Thanks so much for all you share! I also am enjoying more of your collaborations with Micah--you are truly kindred spirits!
I love the Orange County Library in downtown. I stop by there every few weeks and get a few extra steps in by doing a lap around Lake Eola. Your perspective at the library was great to watch. Also you should try to mix Madagascar (Bonbon Anglais and Dominican Republic (Country Club) at Club Cool, the two together might be the best sodas there.
Thank you for the interesting video. I sure wish that my local library had a treasure trove of Walt Disney World history like that. I could spend days in there! The book that you showed at 22:57 is "Prince Of The Magic Kingdom" by Joe Flower. I read that book when it first came out in 1991 and it is a fun read. It was written at a time when Michael Eisner and Frank Wells could do no wrong at The Walt Disney Company. So many younger Disney fans only know about Michael Eisner from his later years at Disney when he had to make decisions mostly based on what happened with Disneyland Paris. They know absolutely nothing about the time before Disneyland Paris opened when he basically was brought on board by Roy E. Disney in the 1980s to save the company from being torn apart. Recent fans unfairly (in my opinion) have nothing but bad things to say about Eisner and his time at Disney when they have absolutely no idea what the company was like and what it was going through during the Ron Miller/Card Walker years. They have absolutely no clue what was going on back then. They really need to do some research into Disney history before they bash Eisner as relentlessly as they do today. I hope that you read the book and that you learn more about Michael Eisner and what he did to help save The Walt Disney Company. The company would be very different today if he were not successful back then.
@@TheDailyWoo You're welcome and if you get the chance, I'd love to hear your opinions on the book after you read it. I do not remember if it was "Prince Of The Magic Kingdom" or one of the other books about Disney history that I read around the early 1990s but one of them talked extensively about the relatively unknown friction between the Walt and Roy O. sides of the Disney family. There was definitely some really bad blood between the two sides of the family behind the scenes and it spilled out into Walt Disney Productions and how the company was being run after the Disney brothers had both passed away. It's very fascinating if you are into Disney history and it's a side of the company that almost never gets talked about. You'll never hear about the heated Disney inter-family dynamics at that time from anything officially put out by The Walt Disney Company today because the company massively sugar coats their history to the point where it's almost practically outright lying. As I said, I'm not sure if that Disney feud was mentioned in that book or another one. It might have been discussed in "Walt Disney: An American Original" by Bob Thomas. I read that book around the same time that I read Joe Flowers' book. The library at my college had both books and I read them both around the same time so I might have them mixed up.
Great video Adam!! I was so surprised at how much you had to pay for a library card. I live in Ontario Canada, and thankfully we get our library cards for free and we can use it anywhere, as well as take books out on line. You never have to worry about late returns when going online. I do love how massive the livrary in Orlando is!! Safe journies!
That is awesome! Yet another reason why Canada treats its people better than here in the US. That is so cool how your library cards work, I'm very impressed!
All of that is true for the Orange County library, too. They only charge for a card if you don't actually live in Orange County. It's free for residents. We can check out ebooks, or print books online. The print books will be delivered for free. Not sure if it's still going, but you used to be able to return books by throwing them in the mailbox at the post office!
Another interesting history sharing in downtown Orlando. I was a bit surprised at the $125 charge for a library card. I haven’t had one since college in late 70’s. Times have changed since the internet. I can see how they justified the membership. Thanks Adam and Micah !
You were just down the street from my place when you were in Windermere. I love the old style feel of the town. And love the history there. And the houses there are huge and gorgeous. They do a market and festivals in town on occasion too. You should come back and check it out sometime.
That old school house and out house and their surroundings remind me of the settings seen in old Our Gang/Little Rascals episodes where the cast attended school, played in the yard are lunch and Ms Crabtree was the beautiful teacher they reported to.
The way Micah was hightailing down the sidewalk when you showed that police car with lights on; I’m guessing he just found out parking wasn’t free on weekends too (smile)
