Another question is. If I dig up my daylily, divide it, and re-planted them side-by-side will it take until next summer Sue reestablish? Or do you think it will recover and start flowering again this year? I live in Alaska and can’t remember Maison off the top of my head but I think it’s6
I have a huge day little Lily plants in my front garden which was established when I bought the house. It has grown perfectly every year with endless returning flowers as long as I deadhead. This year it is limp, all the flowers have died, and the only thing I can think is that I need to divide it. Is there any other reason you might think of that would cause this? Also, can they get too big? I don’t see that it’s much bigger than last year but maybe it is and once I divided it will come back?
Give them lots of water, Fertilize with 10-10-10 every month. It is probably time to divide them to reinvigorate the clump tp. Dividing every 3 to 5 years is suggested. Try adding a new variety also. Shriners has many beautiful varieties and other growers / hybridizes have websites with lilies for sale. There are many new hybrids now they may be more spectacular than your old ones. See TH-cam videos from Lewis Daylilly and others for samples of some great ones that are available.

I now know that I don’t need to get my clips out. I’ll just use my spade!
