Nice videos. Former C-5 crew here. The new engines have much more thrust than the old ones, so much increased performance. That being said, this is perhaps the 4th largest plane in the world (AN-225, A-380, AN-124).
Absolutely not. Old engines about 43,000 lbs of thrust per engine... new engines about 51,000 lbs of thrust per engine. I grew up around C-5s and you can't beat the unique sound of the old engines, but the performance of the new engines makes it an obvious choice to upgrade. Great video.
I did!. Managed to find a place in an open field to watch it depart from. pretty much end of the runway. two hours standing in a field but was totally worth it :) Thanks again for your help. Was much appreciated.
