I just wanted to echo this comment I saw on one of your earlier videos: "What a treasure it is to have such an accomplished player making educational videos. Thank you for all that you do!"
I'm a total beginner who started trying to learn Go a few weeks ago on and off. While I'm infinitely far away from understanding the depth of Go, I'm coming from a 6-year background in chess, so I know just enough about chess to understand how much I *don't* know and to also see beauty in it.
Hopefully, I'll see more beauty and begin to understand the complexity of Go in the next 6 years :).

These 2 videos, as an introduction to playing on the 19x19 board, have been more instructional than almost anything I've watched previously.
Thank you very much, I look forward to watching the rest of your content.

    Thank you
We requested the origin of go on the 19x19 board in the livestream done before, responding to our demands, great
    (better than our government)

Always great to get a refresher on the basics. It would be cool to see a video about different styles of play.

4000+ years Of Weiqi theory efficiently and concisely packed into 67 minutes. Great video. Probably the best walk through of whats up, what is what, why and who in a 19 by 19 game. Thank you..

It's a rare treat to see a top-level pro who is also such a clear communicator. Really enjoyed it.

Thank you very much, Michael. This is a perfect model game to teach the basics of the game, with some features opening research for further study. Great job !

I’ve recommended this series for beginners to all of my friends , I think it’s the best one on TH-cam! Please keep it going ❤

The best beginner introduction series that I've "found" (a friend mine introduced me to the game, and also shared the great channel of Redmond). As a Brazillian, it's almost impossible to find a lot of good resources from our country pros, so you saved my beginner journey. Thanks to you, my friend got scared with my evolution in the game, and I'm very excited to continue learning and playing.

Thank you so much for making these very useful video's about the basics of go. Given your experience, teaching us newbies how to approach the go ban, you must feel like a professional runner teaching toddlers how to crawl, so I really appreciate the patience and level of detail you provide. Priceless!

"teaching us how to crawl" indeed! As he has shown, almost never crawl on the first line, and crawling on the second line generally isn't very good either.

Mr Redmond. Mayby you should also have discussed / demonstrated the Japanese versus Chinese ways of counting?

As a brand new player who has just finished watching all your "beginner lessons" videos, I just wanted to offer my thanks. It is really incredible to have a pro take the time to explain the basics for people like me. You're a true ambassador of the sport. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! I look forward to seeing the rest of your videos :)

A very good presentation of what a beginner game should look like. Thank you Mr. Redmond and keep up the good work in the future.
