Man, I'm on semi-bed rest due to a minor foot injury right now. Had a bit of a rough day today, and my spouse said not to play magic as sometimes it's stressful for me when I lose. My mother told me to watch or listen to something calming, so I'm here listening to the most soothing and calming media I know. Thank you for your videos, they really provide an hour of Zen for me in this crazy world.
This was one of my favorite decks you’ve played in a while! It made for really interactive games, despite having a bit off that ancient tomb/dark ritual/full send appearance on first glance! The lifegain really adds an typically unappreciated component to the deck, and the late game potential of agadeem’s awakening is really cool. It felt like all the games were competitive, and in another day could have easily pulled a positive record. Awesome deck! I’d be pumped to see it again!
I'm confused on why you're running 6 fetchs, is it just for the 1 of fatal push in the board? If it's really only for that I would think an alternative would be better over push and just keeping the fetchs as swamps.
58:40 a spell will fizzle if it is a spell that requires targets and zero of those targets are legal upon resolution. Baleful Mastery is worded slightly weirdly since it says “an opponent draws a card” but that is a weird way to say “pick a player as this is resolving without actually targeting any players”. Example 1: Player 1 casts Kolaghan’s Command on modes “Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand” and “Target player discards a card” targeting Player 2. Player 2 responds with Veil of Summer. The discard mode will become illegal due to hexproof from black, but the return a creature mode is still legal so that part of the spell will resolve. Example 2: Player 1 casts Cryptic Command choosing modes “Return target permanent to its owner’s hand” targeting Player 2’s Storm Crow and “Draw a card”. Player 2 responds with Veil of Summer. The bounce mode is the ONLY targeting mode of Cryptic Command in this scenario and it will fizzle due to hexproof from blue, so the whole spell will fizzle and Player 1 will NOT draw a card
In Duel Commander us Sheoldred players have been playing Pain's Reward in addition to Infernal Contract and Cruel Bargain for years :p it is some hot tech
Wow, Brian this was seriously a riot. Thank you for embracing the challenge. I get that it’s jank, but man this feels a few tweaks away from being crazy fun with potential to actually win. All the best, always a pleasure.
Wait a minute, this feels like black Death & Taxes in spirit A deck composed almost entirely of small annoying hatebears, but instead of taxing mana they tax life
Game two of 8 mulch, I think you did miss a potential look at Baleful Mastery. Cavalry has menace, so you’d get to hit and get one more look off the blood token to still dig to mastery.
Exsanguinator Cavalry is so dang sweet that it makes me wonder if you could slip in another knight or two. There has to be to be some other Knight that'd fit into a stompy shell, right?
I love how legacy creatures are either gigantic monsters or kinda dinky so if you throw kind of a medium size chonker in there delver's like 4/5 lifelink?! What am I supposed to do about that?!?!
You had the lands game win. You could have played a Sheoldred. He draws a card at beginning of the turn and takes 2 damage before he could attack. You had it.
Yeah I don't think playing all those fetches for just one fatal push in the board is really worth it. They are probably there from some previous build of the deck that splashed a color but have been forgotten?
Why this deck uses fetches? All they could get is swamps but they cost you life, in a deck where you having more life means you win bets. Wouldn't just swamps be stricktly better in this? Or there should be something besides swamps that those fetches could get to give them a reason to be in the deck. I think there was at least couple of games where it was up to a life point or two who wins that game. So the fetches literally lost those games for you.
They’re not a white deck, they don’t usually hold cards in their hand for a long game, they have life from the loam to get back things I would discard, and they have karakas and maze of ith to blank it in combat. Just doesn’t do anything useful.
@@BoshNRoll thank you. I was curious if the random discard was useful to disrupt their play patterns. I've never played legacy, just watch your stuff so I wasn't sure
re: the deck tech - This is also how you make cards like Browbeat or Vexing Devil "good". If you play Vexing Devil, then your opponent gets the choice, and your four-of unique card can be played around. But Vexing Devil + 4x Noxious Revival in an aggressive shell pressures the opponent. From experience, the opponent takes the first two Vexing Devil hits. But once they get to 12 life there's a psychology shift. They let it live and try to remove it on board. So if you Vines of Vastwood or Noxious Revival it back over and over in addition to Lightning Bolt, etc. there are not more "good for the opponent" decisions to be made. In other words, put it in a RUG tempo shell.
I'm confused by game one. After the will the opponent can petal petal ritual but if they beseech they don't have an artifact to sacrifice. Did I miss something?
@@BoshNRoll, i was thinkin that too. plus, the land effects while debilitating, would hit your other lands anyway & urborg becoming a mountain or untapable is a mild inconvenience comparee to the convenience it would provide freeing up your mana for black sources. i still agree with you that fate unraveller is still better underworld due to the 3 coloursless one black, but an urborg makes things a little more convenient. also, if the opponent is willing to blow their own lands up to get your urborg, the set back sets them bqck more than you - urborg almost feels like a decoy land for them to attack
It warms my heart to have seen Pain's Reward actually go off in a Legacy game

Word soup stompy? I’m in!
Word soup would be such a good deck name
That third game of the second match against lands when 1 missed bowmasters trigger costed you the game was a heartbreaker, great games
I love that the game on the video is listed as "Bowmasters" lmao
og Kamigawa holds a special place in my heart.
used to play pain's reward in modern burn before the canopy land cycle. love sub game cards
That death and taxes game was hilarious
Thanks for all the vids, keeping me sane during the work week!

Heeeeeyyy! Dark Deal! I’ve been waiting for someone to shove that into a sheoldred black shell.
In Duel Commander us Sheoldred players have been playing Pain's Reward in addition to Infernal Contract and Cruel Bargain for years :p it is some hot tech
Wow! I used to play Pains Reward in Deaths Shadow shell! Never thought I’d see this! Thank you
I love Fate Unraveler, but Sheoldred has to be the worst thing to stand next to for comparison.
Karakas do be a thing tho

I was not expecting the curtains when I clicked on a Legacy video. Almost makes me want to build a discard tribal around Turoch
A good demonstration of the significance of _Ancient Tomb Mana_ ™
The way round 2 ends... You had the miss on Sheoldred and the extra bow ping that would have won it...
Love dark deal in legacy. So many mono black builds now for this amazing uncommon.
Even though they go negative, I always love these janky black decks. Pain’s Reward!!!
This deck was really sick, nice build.
Wait a minute, this feels like black Death & Taxes in spirit
A deck composed almost entirely of small annoying hatebears, but instead of taxing mana they tax life
You got lot of fair matchups where all the mana acceleration was fairly bad.
Well no, I was not expecting to see a legacy deck with a HAG today but I'm damn glad I was wrong.
This was truly entertaining
Thx for the content 🙏
Delver losing to lifelink is actually hilarious.
Why is youtube telling me the game played in the video is "Bowmasters" from 2016? I guess because that word is in the title :)
Deck seems fairly promising, a couple tweaks, and some practice is imagine it goes even better.
It'd be cool to revisit decks with a bit of promise.
Throw in Kaerveks spite to just dome them out
Round 2 was such a heartbreaker ;-;
I feel like Bump in the Night would fit well in here
Game two of 8 mulch, I think you did miss a potential look at Baleful Mastery. Cavalry has menace, so you’d get to hit and get one more look off the blood token to still dig to mastery.
was thinking the same he'd still had a draw step!
Bosh wouldn't get to hit to get the Blood token, the opponent would just Maze the Cavalry before damage.
@@AaronRotenbergthanks! That’s what I was missing

I kinda wanna see it with Inti, Seneschal of the sun.
He is a Knight, Turns the Blood into Card advantage and makes Cavalry more likely to hit
All those blood tokens had me thinking of Urza's saga.
It was in an early build but the black requirement is already tough with Ancient Tomb.
@@BoshNRoll Makes sense. Someone smart once told me it’s not a free inclusion
The deck seemed fine. The pilot seemed fine. Luck seemed suspect.
last card karakas🤣🤣🤣 yup
I always wonder why decks like this don't play Sign in Blood, it can be 6 damage with a Sheoldred, or draw you towards gas when you need it.
I love how legacy creatures are either gigantic monsters or kinda dinky so if you throw kind of a medium size chonker in there delver's like 4/5 lifelink?! What am I supposed to do about that?!?!
This deck has phil written all over it lol
Maybe I missed it, but did you comment about cracking Dauthi for yorion in last game of round 4? What else was in the void?
You had the lands game win. You could have played a Sheoldred. He draws a card at beginning of the turn and takes 2 damage before he could attack. You had it.
What’s your plan for the Karakas that had been bouncing Sheoldred in the upkeep to avoid taking damage for the entire game up to that point?
Ah, thanks I knew I missed something there. Thanks for the quick response, huge fan. I mean, hopefully he misses it on upkeep?@@BoshNRoll
7:29 You mean, "As they say, THREE-ball"?
spicy 2B brew
31:30 did i miss something or do you not just kill with sheoldred draw trigger if you cast him?
They have Karakas, they’ve been bouncing Sheoldred in their upkeep all game.
Yeah I don't think playing all those fetches for just one fatal push in the board is really worth it. They are probably there from some previous build of the deck that splashed a color but have been forgotten?
So, if we want to purchase modo premium, like the death and taxes opponent, where do we inquire?
No lie, if you had the option to play 5x pains reward, 5x pains reward would be really good here
Trinisphere always hurts you no matter which side it's on.
the lack of chains in this deck is depressing.
Storm fetched in the second game cause of potential Opposition Agent

They haven't played a land, so they can fetch.
Thank you that is what I missed.
Why Powder Keg over Racket Bomb?
Powder Keg hits artifact lands
You cast Pain's Reward a lot of times, and only once did you pay more than a trivial amount of life.
is there any disadvantage to have 7 swamp 1 urborg instead of the 8 swamp?
Wasteland, Blood Moon, Back to Basics etc. Might still be worth 1 to take the pain out of ancient tomb sometimes.

No Urborg?
3 ball half the deck costs 2. Legacy.
Round 2, last game, Couldn't you cast Sheoldred then Pain's Reward and lose the bidding to win?
You start the bid and your opponent has to top it first. They can always choose to never draw.
I don't think you can lose the bidding. I start at 0, opp realizes they're dead to Sheoldred and just doesn't bid 1.
