First you give the OL a failing grade then talk about the QB not getting past his first read. Maybe one leads to another. Questions. How often does he have enough time to get to a second or third read? He's been hit a lot over the last three years, after he gets past his first read, does he start getting anxious, expecting to get hit?
@@theycallmehoipilloi5495The pocket-presence difference between Sanders and Morton is night and day. Sanders made plays last year on his own with an o-line that was worse than our current version. But, your point is taken on whether Morton even has time to make a second read…
@@theycallmehoipilloi5495 at least two, if not more sacks Morton took were the result of holding the ball too long. When you're getting pressure like that you need to get the ball out , several plays it looked like he was staring down a receiver then got sacked. Not sure if that's due to coaching, shell shock, or something else.
The officiating was so bad in our game. Wasn’t the reason why we lost, but woof, it didn’t help. If Behren struggles against a winless in conference ok state team, let’s see Will. I would also like to see more of J’Koby.
You guys don’t get it. At every game that Colorado plays, the officiating is horrible. It’s horrible because the officials want to penalize Colorado, but in order to seem fair, they also end up penalizing the other team more than usual. But then because they made up so much stuff, they can’t make certain calls against Colorado or they will seem like they’re going overboard. This game is the first time that the other team has complained about it openly. But an investigation will help everybody.
I'm excited for the future with Hammond as QB and glad the redshirt has been maintained for this year if he had to play. I really like Behren and would hate for him to not play his senior year. It's just a bad spot for him to be in behind the OL. I'm so glad the OL has been better than last, but it hasn't given him enough time when he needs it and I think it has really effected his throwing and progression. Watching Hammond in the TCU going through progressions really shows how much is lacking with Morten, and that could be from the lack of time he faces; especially on the deep ball. We see some really great throws and then some other times, it's really out of place and reminds me of his AC joint problems from last year.
The funny part about the refs is that CU was probably more negatively affected by those refs than Texas Tech lmaooo The entire first TD drive was filled with illegal pick plays and top it off with a fumble that wasn’t even reviewed and allowed to stand as a TD…
Hard to say, but a bogus roughing the QB that would've sent CU off the field + two missed facemasks on Tech 4th DNs seem pretty damn consequential. A lot more than missing a pick. Oh well. Thanks for the comment #GunsUp
I appreciate Hammond’s athleticism but at 200#, he will not last long running the ball. Additionally, I think we will see a lot of shake up in QB room this offseason. I don’t think it is a given both Hammond and Morton are on roster next season
I think the main difference between our football and b ball teams at Tech is the coaching. Full faith and confidence in Grant. The folks heading up the other sport not so much.
Honestly though they're blatantly bad calls continued 2 td scoring drives for CU that would've been punts and costed tech their own possession by not calling the face mask on 4th down. That's not even to mention all the missed late hits and holding on CU
Behren is simply not the problem. We can put Mahomes in there and he'd have the exact same results. In fact, our situation is much like his years. We have major issues on the team, but focusing on quarterback would be putting energy into an area of the team that can only improve marginally. What is the real upside statistically? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Let the kid get his play in the bowl.......also, when he's operating at a high level with that run game, our offense looks unstoppable.
I knew we'd see a drop off when we lost Tyree, and that was only one player. We lost a lot of talent up front and in the secondary. I think we have leaders, but last year those same leaders had Bradford, Hutchings, and Rabbit to help. We know where the deficiencies are. That is where the upside will be with giving youth time to prove themselves this season. Our focus next year will be defensive primarily. That will tell us where to focus in the portal. We know we need help at O line.
What everyone needs to look at is why did TB struggle in the run game early? The offensive line is the answer. Why did Morton have the turnovers he had, the offensive line is again the answer. You can blame officials, coaches, whomever you want, but the sole reason we lost was due to the offensive line play.
Seems to me that at the beginning of the game calorado complained about some of our pass plays that the announcers on TV said were legal. After the complaint we went away from Those plays that had been successful, and became more one dimensional.
as for rigged 12. I've been ranting on B/R but it's either ineptitude or corruption. Normally I'd defer to people simply being stupid. Because the CU game was truly egregious. The fact that the league is not willing to openly and objectively discuss how horrendous the officiating has been is suspect. They should never comment on the conspiracy though. The Utah AD didn't help the matter. Sort of forced the league to dig their heels in.
What would hurt more if we lose at OkState? The 5th loss (taking 8 regular season wins off the table) or being the only W on OkState's conference slate.
He has been struggling with some injury. He might be right on the line of being able to redshirt, too, since he's been banged up for much of the season, so something to watch for
Tahj was not able to use his jump cut due to the penetration. Looked like in 2 nd half he went to outside immediately and found some yards. Comment- I hope tahj didn’t hurt his draft status coming back to a mediocre team. 2nd. On Tv it looks as though joey has a conversation with the refs then rubs his face then walks to sidelines. Never blew a gasket. The low hit on Sanders should have had an instant head coach reaction pointing to jumbotron. He calmly addressed the issue at the presser. Does anyone know if the big 12 fined anyone this week. If not, if Utah Ad can get away with what he did, I would start fighting for his players more if I was joey.
That bogus roughing the passer call that kept the Colorado drive alive (and led to a Colorado TD) really changed the tone of the game. We should have argued it more and insisted on a review.
@ not sure its reviewable. But refs leaning one way need to be bitc out by the head coach and fans need to take over the game not by throwing things but a good b.s . Chant and boos. And up the loudness level a few notches. Joey could have asked them to quit throwing things but please be as loud as possible. Those 2 things lilled the fever.
I want to win now. That being said, if the young guy at a particular position can produce at a similar or better level than the veteran, it's time to start the young guy and find out what you've got. I'd start with the OL after the terrible performance we just saw.
I don’t think Morton is the problem, but Level is delusional if he thinks he’s a top 5-6 QB in the conference. Name a team he could start for outside of Hou, Utah and Okla St? He’s maybe 13 of 16 which is where he was in the preseason Big 12 QB poll.
Morton is the starter the rest of the year and likely next year. I'm more thinking if he's not entirely healthy, Hammond could come in without you feeling you loose something. I feel like there have been moments where Morton takes a hit and it would be good for him to come out for a few plays or a series, but you didn't want to lose the redshirt. You should be more careful with the hits these guys are taking, keeping them fresh and not playing scared.
There are way too many subjective calls in football. I have no idea how to fix it though. One would have to think that "brand bias" leaks into some official decisions. Utah needs to haul azz.
Why? Why have we NOT been able to take that next step and progress. I’m not happy with bottom tiered bowl games. Will we ever be Alabama? Probably not. But it’s like we’re just stuck in idle and content with Shreveport. Is it coaching? Talent? AD? All of the above? We’ve done the coaching carousel with little to no improvement….so what the F is Tech not doing that other programs are? Or vice versa…
But if we're wearing aluminum hats (and this is a complete fiction just for the sake of philosophical exploration), CU is big business right now and I imagine generating a lot of very high-priced Big XII champion bets, my guess is there are plenty of six-figure bets on them given the celebrity infatuation with the team. Usually when there is officiating corruption in the past, those individuals were bought. Really, those individuals simply bought the continued use of their knee caps, but regardless, they sold out to the mob. I dunno. It can't just be the A-listers that are loving this team. Just playing with my antennae here.
Morton seems off this season. Is it still the shoulder? Is he being more cautious running the ball? Or is it really just the poor oline making it seem that way with Morton.
Cu Fan here the refs all season long have been atrocious. This past weekend was abysmal. Ttech first TD was a fumble. Your Qb face mask was held and should have been called
Would like Morton to open his mouth and complain to the refs every time its close or even far, Shaduer (sp?) was complaining about everything and he got calls turned his way ; incompetent refs are more likely to listen to the players because they don't know what the hell is going on
The officiating was bad but you’re losing because you misevaluated your lines last December and let guys walk that would have been starting. You also haven’t developed your high school OL commits.
It's $ and entertainment - UT used to get the ref calls now it's BYU and Colorado
Officials hurt but what hurts more is a D or F grade oline and a QB that can't function past his first read.

Lost because of Kittley and terrible OLine play. The officiating contributed but it could have been overcome

The roughing the passer call against TT was a bad call, but at the same time, TT last TD should have been ruled a fumble.
