I like the idea of the 2 red LEDs indicating that the tank is full it works nicely for a motorhome so you can attached the sensor for the red LEDs to indicate when the tank is to full for the vehicle capacity
After 1 month due to electrolysis, the exposed parts of the wires will dissolve in the water and disappear. Why do you lie to people?

Due to corrosion on the sensor points( due to high current flow) such circuits are not recommended, rather use Microcontroller/OpAmp based circuits where very low current flows through the sensor lines.
....or use stainless steel ... 🙄😒
@@peterfitzpatrick7032 That's okay if you want to stop the corrosion. However, when you add salt to the water to increase it's conductivity and then apply a current, you split NaCl to Na and Cl. And - maybe you guessed it - get chlorine gas. Which is not really great due to its poisoness.
Using a proper circuit is definetly a better option.

@@noahmeurer7002 it doesnt split the NaCl, it seperates the hydrogen from oxygen. Just like a hydrogen fuel cell. The more current flow, the more hydrogen oxygen gas.

you can see electrolysis occurring at your anode due to the relatively high current needed to drive the LED. Transistors are cheap and the gate current necessary is much lower.

Hi, very simple and looks effective way to detect the water level. Just a query, have seen other videos too and others have used transistors where I dont see that in ur video? Is it mandatory or what is the use of transistors?
Yes its mandatory to use transistor. A transistor provides proper biasing voltages to switch its load from its high sensitive base terminals.
Also note that water is not a good conductor of electricity. So if we directly place wires voltage will be lost in the form of high resistance, to drive directly an led its not sufficient .if we put some salt in water conductivity increases.

@@ElectrotechysMedia I made a device with some DC connected LED indicators to know water level of Ground Tank. A simple device, power supply leads negative to bottom of Water Tank and different levels set at 4 leads and will be connected through raising water levels. All my test with LED indicators and power supply was good before the installation and glowing according to Water Level. But when installed, instead of specific LEDs to glow according to water level, all the indicators are glowing. What is the reason please ? Any diode to be connected.. No idea?

correct me if i am wrong. Here water is conductor ? if water is conductor and used for real time application(water tank), current will pass whole water from bottom to top. After long use battery will drain past. right ?

Notice the oxygen coming off the negative black wire end. It will corrode away fast. But it could be used with a switch to check occasionally, and most of the time it will be off.

As I made twice.. But not working after some days led goes fault as per my thinking resistance value should change accordingly bottom to top.. Be if first led glows than more voltage is going that's the reason
Bro it's not working properly because pure water is not a good conductor of electricity. For electrical conductivity , we need ions in water.. we can add salt to increase electrical conductivity. This circuit only works with salty water or we can say ionised water...But for pure water, we have to add transistors to the circuit. Talking about resistor..apply Kirchoff voltage law..then you can easily calculate resistor value for led

It will not work. No electric conduction with gazoline.

El agua destilada no es conductora de la electricidad.
Lo sé pero su resistencia no es infinita...con transistores MOSFET se consigue activar los LEDs.

This project shows u there are 5 levels .u can divide the tank height into 5 levels one level is 20% second level 40 % and so on .the led light "on " condition show u how much percentage of water is there in the tank. For example three led 's are glowing then 60%water present in the tank.

featherbrain Please think before posting. Water is transported around our homes in copper pipes. They do not corrode. Copper is used to cover roofs etc because it doesn't corrode. Guess what most wires are made from?
