The Art Department on Sets are like magical elves, you never see them but every time I walk onto a set I am always so impressed with how much effort they put into their craft, and how fast they’re able to not only build the world but strike it as well, as we are always given stipulations by the Locations we’re shooting at for not just how long we’re allowed to be there, but the longer you have to be there the expense rises significantly. They come in usually one day before, sometimes two or more for big builds, change the space ENTIRELY (literally everything; furniture, the color of paint on the walls, all of the window treatments, everything), then turn around and make the place look EXACTLY like it did before the hundred strangers came in when we wrap. This show does have the advantage of what looks like an elaborate stage with Blue Screen used to extend areas and make the Silo look bigger, but their Art Department is killer. I’m also guessing with that kind of containment they most likely Cross Boarded the Series, meaning they scheduled and shot all of the episodes together out of order by location. Soderbergh and his incredible 1st AD for years Gregory Jacobs came up with Cross Boarding on the Series The Knick. I was lucky enough to work with their AD team on an HBO series called Mosaic (RIP Paul Rubens, the most genuinely kind actor I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, someone who showed he cared about people no matter who they were every single day), I was willing to be the Key P.A. (Production Assistant) on that show just for the chance to learn from those AD’s even though I’m in the Directors Guild of America myself as a 1st AD already. Worth the wages lost for the amount I learned, and I’d do it again any day.

What could possibly go wrong when you have multiple government organizations involved in one project 😂.
Hey Igor, Adam Savage of Myth Buster fame has several videos out where he visits the set of Silo. He interacts with set designers, costume creators and prop makers. I think you would love to see the people who created the grandiose and detailed sets and their rationale for it.
I have watched several of the videos and they are great. One thing I caught when he was interviewing the man who designed Solo/Jimmy’s classroom what that it was about artists. It made me wonder if each silo had a focus on types of societies. One for arts, engineering, math, etc. That would put a nice spin on this being part of the experiment.

I noticed that Lucas called the voice AI in the tunnel the Algorithm however he calls the one in vault the Legacy. I think they are two different systems. That is why he had to go to the bottom to talk to that one. At first I thought that the tunnel was the Safeguard and would flood the Silo. That is what was happening to 17. Now I am guessing it is a connection to the other silos. I really liked when you called the main silo 0. That reminded me that some math uses 0 as the first number when others use 1 as the first number. That would make sense that Quinn would think there were 50 silos and Bernard knew there were 51. I do think that the reason for the 50 is the 50 US States. I believe you said something about the peaches. Peaches are a big deal in Georgia. They are called the Peach tree state. Georgian women are known as peaches. That may sound like a sexist slur, however it is not; or not always. There are so many roads named Peach tree that it is a joke. When the congressman and the reporter, don’t remember their names, they bring up New Orleans. Louisiana is the 18th State to join the Union. Thanks for your work.

The PEZ dispenser was given by George to Juliet at the beginning of their relationship that started an investigation in season 1, and in this flashback we see the beginning of the same being mirrored. Also for Bernard in the end, he said he had the gun to insure a quick and painless death but in the end he obviously he’s burned to death when the sanitation procedure is initiated. Murphys Law in full effect. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong!
Completely agree about the sheriff badge thing with Walker. Didn't hit at all. It comes out of nowhere!! I'm guessing that they had a minor story arc that included it, but had to cut if for time or something
Those weren't sheriff badges. They were deputy badges. It showed how every deputy joined the rebellion. Bernard didn't know she had all the cops helping her.

When you mentioned 15 vs 14 Districts something just hit me... how many states in the US? 50! .... 50 Silos + 1 Silo for control or whatever the purpose. 🤔
I’m curious about why no one has mentioned the walls surrounding the silos area. If you pay close attention to the panoramic view in the final episode of season 1, you’ll notice that the perimeter of the silos is marked by a wall. Additionally, there are tall, regular structures like antennas or what I believe like stadium lights scattered throughout the area.
Maybe the safeguard wasn’t put in place by “humans”. It was only figured out after it was too late and they didn’t know there was a back up safeguard outside. OR the pipes weren’t built for a safeguard kill switch but were later used as a means to transport gas/toxins. It could have originally been a back up oxygen supply coming from the primary Silo but can also be used to transport other substances.
I guess Bernard didn't send every raider because it might be nice keeping some in defense. There's always big risks to an all out assault and he might've thought everything was under control because he had walker
Hey, just a thought. Could it be that the algorithm asked for Camille specifically because she is one of the agents from the main place. Like, from where the power lines come through inside the Judicial & IT? That might be the reason why the poison wasn't released immediately. And why Camille has been all shady throughout the 2nd season. I mean, she is clearly important. She could even be one of the founders. The technology is clearly really advanced. They probably could've developed better cryogenic tech to stop human aging for VVIPs like the founders.

re: the New Orleans reference - the army corp of engineers do a LOT of work on things like sea walls - critical infrastructure in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

To your point that Bernard could have crushed the rebellion at any point: to me it was pretty clear that he wanted to wait until rebel actions resulted in civilian deaths or destruction of vital resources, so that normie Siloans would be supportive of ceding more power to an authoritarian IT-led regime. That’s the whole reason Bernard made the deal with Walker. Great channel btw.
Solo's dad was the head of IT. And he worked on cutting out the poison to help the rebellion. So he was on the rebellion side. If so can't understand why he doesn't let anyone in the safe/ vault. And who were the rebellion fighting against? Surely I'm missing something
He worked on saving the Silo 17. It's the rebellion that works against its safety. But as the rebellion lacks knowledge, it fights against IT to find the truth. I think Bernard is pissed off too because of that.
Bernard saw what they wanted to see. Murphy is the name of the officer in Robo Cop. I did miss the code being the same for every vault. Interesting. I think that it will prove to be a "Chekov's gun". Thought i'd point out the faceplates on the suits are meant to be video screens. I like the subtle way you can tell that they are.
You don’t need to serve in the military, you don’t need a college degree to become a representative. You must be 25 yrs old and a citizen for 7 years. Lastly be a resident of the state you are running for. For the Senate you must be 30 yrs old and a citizen for 9 yrs . A resident of the state you wish to represent. That’s it only 3 requirements.
I've been waiting for your video since last night when I watched the finale--twice! It was Good, not Great and did have some emotionally-charged moments like Juliette walking over the hill and back to Silo 18, and the inhabitants seeing her & crying & hugging. Wow! That was a payoff for two years of watching this show. I have NOT read the books, so I don't know how Juliette's return was handled. As for Bernard, I'll take your bet: I'm 99% sure he DIED in the fire. The A.I. has chosen Camille Sims as the new IT Head (if she can negotiate it with the Rebels). I've long predicted that Rob & Camille Sims will be "Macbeth" and "Lady Macbeth"--villians. BTW, in the epilogue scene there IS an important nugget when the Congressman mentions that as an Army Engineer he did some good things in Louisiana. There was a major hurricane that destroyed New Orleans, Louisiana--and the Army Engineers did massive reconstruction. A lot of which was on waterways, docks, and buildings. This is exactly the experience someone would need to build underground cities--or silos.
That scene was probably done that way not showing his death because they didn’t know, at the time of writing, if the actor would continue in the next season. It could very well be a status quo decision. If he leaves then he’s dead, if he stays then he’s alive

They might change stuff even more in the next season, the PEZ dispenser ended up in silo 18, but that's not where Helen went in the source material. I'm guessing the production tries to shift things around to bring new plots for book readers since readers know what's next and are just so fixated on whether the show follows the book. Doing this, even book readers will get some 'WOW' moments, as the case in Solo, which I think was more interesting than the book, in which he just got so lonely and gave himself that name. PS, the congressman left his career path (as an engineer/an architecht in the book), so he should not be an engineer at the moment.

One important detail from earlier in the season: The Order mentions OSHA in the page that we were able to see. OSHA is a US government entity. Therefore, it's highly likely that the Silos are a US government project.

I like to see how the show will develop from now on. (I didn’t read the books) If we can reassume season one in a sentence is: if you ask to go out you will and it is irrevocable. (remove little problems) for season 2 is: if someone doesn’t clean prepare for war (huge problem ahead) what if not cleaning trigger something in the algorithm which the only purpose is to keep people inside and “safe”? but Juliette came back and cleaned, could this mean something more than just stop the rebellion? btw I expect Bernard funeral as one of the first scenes (no way he survived without a firefighter suit) and a lot of scenes from the past (if not more) in the meantime we have 1+ year of speculation to do 😂

I think the congressman is Salvador Quinn. That's why they named Helen and not him because the name is unique enough that it would have given it away. I think he was given the congress seat so the people that built the silos could push through the bill and he didn't know he was being used. Silo 51 is a quantum computer running the other silos which originally had government leaders from each state (50 silos 50 states) and that's how he got in but at some point he realized he was used and lied to and tried to fix it. The tunnel voice told Lukas he was the fourth to find the tunnel,the first was Salvador Quinn, then the judge, then George,and Lukas. Just a guess your videos are great keep up the good work.
The Dr. had to sacrifice himself because someone took the detonator. Juliet will be pissed, and she will find out who took it. I think that was the reason behind it being that character that sacrifices

I don't think hand signals are unbelievable. In hindsight when you know what will happen yes it is a mistake made by IT. However to be able to forsee that one worker telling the other, hey when I touch my nose that means give me the wrench, will over the course of hunder plus years amount to secret language of a rebellion is ridiculus. No one would give it a secon thought. Not to mention even on cameras they would be able to see the noise is crazy. Hand gestures to communicate would be normal.

I agree with you. I think Gemma was severed before the accident and the outie, Gemma, is brain dead. The accident could've reset Ms Casey's memory or they could've done it. I think that Ms Cobel is invested because the same thing happened to her mom and that's also why she's interested in reintegration. That's why she takes personal things of Gemmas and does things to try to spark their memories. I think she actually hates Kier for severing her mom.
They could have ended the whole thing with Juliette and Bernard and not show us where the show was going just like they did with season 1. Why not let the people in the Silo figure out the past. Kind of disappointed in that sense.

I do think that the reason for the 50 is the 50 US States. I believe you said something about the peaches. Peaches are a big deal in Georgia. They are called the Peach tree state. Georgian women are known as peaches. That may sound like a sexist slur, however it is not; or not always. There are so many roads named Peach tree that it is a joke. When the congressman and the reporter, don’t remember their names, they bring up New Orleans. Louisiana is the 18th State to join the Union.

10:09 Who is Murphy? EXPLAINED
The name "Murphy" is on a deputy's badge. The badge is a symbol of the "Law". So..."Murphy's Law"...Which states, "If the worst can happen, it will..." (there's more to it but this is the important part). In this scene from Episode 10, the stairs from 90 to 92 have been destroyed, meaning all the enforcers from Judicial are below in Mechanical. The only "law" representatives are the deputies, and they've turned on Bernard. So...the "worst" scenario (for Bernard) has just happened.
Also for Bernard in the end, he said he had the gun to insure a quick and painless death but in the end he obviously he’s burned to death when the sanitation procedure is initiated. Murphys Law in full effect. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong!
Completely agree about the sheriff badge thing with Walker. Didn't hit at all. It comes out of nowhere!! I'm guessing that they had a minor story arc that included it, but had to cut if for time or something
Those weren't sheriff badges. They were deputy badges. It showed how every deputy joined the rebellion. Bernard didn't know she had all the cops helping her.

There is a high possibility that next season they show other silos and what was in the past....and how silo 1 works. But we will have to wait until next season, I wish they showed a story faster, I really like the season 2 episode 10 and it 's tempo of story telling.

Hey Geekademy. This is my first comment on your channel. I’ve been enjoying your videos, especially after watching From episodes. During your review in this video about Georgia, I a couple things that came to mind such as peaches, being Georgia’s state fruit (yes, I got the From reference as well 😄), and the mysterious Georgia’s Guidestones that were dismantled in 2022. It was also called the American Stonehenge. The monument seemed fitting with Silo’s atmosphere.

I’m curious about why no one has mentioned the walls surrounding the silos area. If you pay close attention to the panoramic view in the final episode of season 1, you’ll notice that the perimeter of the silos is marked by a wall. Additionally, there are tall, regular structures like antennas or what I believe like stadium lights scattered throughout the area.
Maybe the safeguard wasn’t put in place by “humans”. It was only figured out after it was too late and they didn’t know there was a back up safeguard outside. OR the pipes weren’t built for a safeguard kill switch but were later used as a means to transport gas/toxins. It could have originally been a back up oxygen supply coming from the primary Silo but can also be used to transport other substances.
I guess Bernard didn't send every raider because it might be nice keeping some in defense. There's always big risks to an all out assault and he might've thought everything was under control because he had walker

That might be the reason why the poison wasn't released immediately. And why Camille has been all shady throughout the 2nd season. I mean, she is clearly important.
She could even be one of the founders. The technology is clearly really advanced. They probably could've developed better cryogenic tech to stop human aging for VVIPs like the founders.

re: the New Orleans reference - the army corp of engineers do a LOT of work on things like sea walls - critical infrastructure in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

To your point that Bernard could have crushed the rebellion at any point: to me it was pretty clear that he wanted to wait until rebel actions resulted in civilian deaths or destruction of vital resources, so that normie Siloans would be supportive of ceding more power to an authoritarian IT-led regime. That’s the whole reason Bernard made the deal with Walker.

He worked on saving the Silo 17. It's the rebellion that works against its safety. But as the rebellion lacks knowledge, it fights against IT to find the truth. I think Bernard is pissed off too because of that.

I've been waiting for your video since last night when I watched the finale--twice!
It was Good, not Great and did have some emotionally-charged moments like Juliette walking over the hill and back to Silo 18, and the inhabitants seeing her & crying & hugging. Wow! That was a payoff for two years of watching this show. I have NOT read the books, so I don't know how Juliette's return was handled.
As for Bernard, I'll take your bet: I'm 99% sure he DIED in the fire. The A.I. has chosen Camille Sims as the new IT Head (if she can negotiate it with the Rebels). I've long predicted that Rob & Camille Sims will be "Macbeth" and "Lady Macbeth"--villians.
BTW, in the epilogue scene there IS an important nugget when the Congressman mentions that as an Army Engineer he did some good things in Louisiana. There was a major hurricane that destroyed New Orleans, Louisiana--and the Army Engineers did massive reconstruction. A lot of which was on waterways, docks, and buildings. This is exactly the experience someone would need to build underground cities--or silos.
That scene was probably done that way not showing his death because they didn’t know, at the time of writing, if the actor would continue in the next season. It could very well be a status quo decision. If he leaves then he’s dead, if he stays then he’s alive

I know most people know actor Iain Glenn/Juliette's father from "Game of Thrones"--but,, I'll always remember him as the villain in the "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" movie with Angelina Jolie. Yes, he's probably very expensive, too.
They might change stuff even more in the next season, the PEZ dispenser ended up in silo 18, but that's not where Helen went in the source material. I'm guessing the production tries to shift things around to bring new plots for book readers since readers know what's next and are just so fixated on whether the show follows the book. Doing this, even book readers will get some 'WOW' moments, as the case in Solo, which I think was more interesting than the book, in which he just got so lonely and gave himself that name.
PS, the congressman left his career path (as an engineer/an architecht in the book), so he should not be an engineer at the moment.

One important detail from earlier in the season: The Order mentions OSHA in the page that we were able to see. OSHA is a US government entity. Therefore, it's highly likely that the Silos are a US government project.

The silo has existed for a long time, it is impossible that the creator of the silo is still young, the founder of the silo must have died
I think the congressman is Salvador Quinn. That's why they named Helen and not him because the name is unique enough that it would have given it away. I think he was given the congress seat so the people that built the silos could push through the bill and he didn't know he was being used. Silo 51 is a quantum computer running the other silos which originally had government leaders from each state (50 silos 50 states) and that's how he got in but at some point he realized he was used and lied to and tried to fix it. The tunnel voice told Lukas he was the fourth to find the tunnel,the first was Salvador Quinn, then the judge, then George,and Lukas. Just a guess your videos are great keep up the good work.

However to be able to forsee that one worker telling the other, hey when I touch my nose that means give me the wrench, will over the course of hunder plus years amount to secret language of a rebellion is ridiculus. No one would give it a secon thought. Not to mention even on cameras they would be able to see the noise is crazy. Hand gestures to communicate would be normal.

I agree with you. I think Gemma was severed before the accident and the outie, Gemma, is brain dead. The accident could've reset Ms Casey's memory or they could've done it. I think that Ms Cobel is invested because the same thing happened to her mom and that's also why she's interested in reintegration. That's why she takes personal things of Gemmas and does things to try to spark their memories. I think she actually hates Kier for severing her mom.
I didn't like this finale it just stalled and gave bread crumbs ...
