I'm on bike #31. I'm 73 and I've always done all of my own work. I even have my own tire machine. I started on British bikes in the 60s, but I have bad knees, and take my Sportster to a friends small bike shop for tire changes. I was on BMWs for 25 years then went on to a very nice low mileage Sportster 3 years ago, I've since put 40,000 miles without a peep. I don't really hold it against them , it should really be called "Corporate Survival" and not "Woke" . It's pure fear of being sued and crushed by lawsuits . Cultural terrorism at work.

Just buy used bikes online and go to mom and pop shops. dont give HD your money. Order parts from 3rd party vendors... You dont HAVE to buy from HD. This is America you have the freedom to boycott but you also have the freedom to boycott in a way that you dont have to give up your bikes or love for the brand. I was at my local Harley dealer and his showroom was packed with bikes at the end of August. Those bikes arent selling. Too expensive. There are a ton of low milage used bikes for sale out there. These old men are selling their bikes will all of the accessories for good prices.
Just ride your bikes and enjoy them....the woke does not represent the past Harley made bikes and gear, its still and American product. Just don't support them anymore only buy old school parts not new crap.
As consumers we don’t know what most of the companies that we buy from does with the money, or what politics they support. I personally try not to support companies that are woke. But you bought the bikes that you enjoy, so enjoy them. And if you don’t support the direction that company is going, stop further supporting by making more purchases. They already have your money. Selling your bikes won’t change that. It’s the lack of purchases from this point one that will maybe make change.
You make good points. However, I know. I told a guy once that I could have bought a Japanese cruiser wholesale but as much as I polish it, it would never be a Harley. Now that place of perceived honor has become dishonor.

No. Some parts from Japan, Italy, Germany, and Mexico. Some electronics from Taiwan would be the closest thing to Chinese parts. Foreign parts aren't bad. These are companies that specialize in specific items. Believe me, you want Showa forks over anything H-D would produce themselves!
My Fatboy instrument cluster was assembled in Mexico and I was told the high humidity conditions at assembly was the cause of it fogging up so much it wasn’t readable.

The Sturgis tent is always empty - people are there to party and ride, not shop for new bikes. The only thing emptier was the Indian tent. This will blow over like the Bud Light thing. I'm right with you, I have wanted a Harley since I was 5 years old. At the age of 41 I was finally able to achieve my dream and purchased a 96 Springer softail. I loved that bike, till I let a buddy ride it and he recked it. After which I purchased, last Christmas (and still owe on) a 2012 FXDX Fat Bob. Now that this has all come to light, I am stuck in this conundrum. I know I cant sell my bike for what I owe and I absolutely despise the "woke culture". I sure hope, but am not holding my breath for Harley to change course. Till then I have trashed all my Harley gear and have de-badged my bike. If Harley continues down this path, as soon as I can, I will become an Indian rider!!

Harley is a small company that can not survive a serious boycott. With fewer people riding (risk adverse young people) and HD doesn't have other products like Honda to rely on, their future as an American company is doubtful. No one believes the move to Thailand is temporary and HD's stock price is half what it used to be. Chances are HD will eventually be sold to the Chinese. In fact, cutting production cost is one way to help get the stock price up before the company is sold. I would think Indian has a real opportunity to become the dominant big twin brand.
Disagree! My older Harleys will increase in value before the Zeiss Era (2017+). You can firesale yours if that makes you happy. I'm not trashing mine and I don't pay HD dealer prices for what my local shop can do!
You're paying a premium for a lifestyle brand. Without that it's an average product at a prrmium price. There's still money in the over 55 motorcycle market. Why they didn't just ride that until the end?
But I’m fed up. I now regret trading in my 07 Heritage and spending so much on a CVO Street glide and again on a Fatboy, (which has the engine offset of center and causes the front tire to wear unevenly) the market has tanked. I’ll just wait this out, hopefully, and sell.
Harley apologized but that means nothing, they kept the CEO and the same board members, all they did was sent out some BS letter saying they are not doing DEI or LGBTQ stuff anymore, but as long as the same people are in charge then i am out on Harley, I already sold mine and will buy something else, at this point I don't know what, but just as long as it's not a Harley. @@RichinHeart. After close to 60 years riding, I am down to one motorcycle...a high mileage but dependable 2007 Honda ST1300. If I don't wad it up it will be my last one. I have never understood the emotional attachment to HD products. First, they don't suit my riding preference...I don't like cruisers in general except to look at. If I were to buy a cruiser, HD would be at the very bottom of the list due to style and quality. I don't go in for the look, sound, and group crap. I want something I can depend on and I can ride with some pleasure (still) in the twisties without scraping pegs. I think HD riders in general are more attracted to the social thing...never interested me. I have one or two guys I trust enough to ride with and I have been all over the country by myself. Incidental to the above epistle, I don't like the way HD treated Eric Buell. I think that guy had some great ideas and could have put HD in to the sport and sport touring markets. As for the latest HD stunt, screw them all for good. I hope Indian puts them in the ditch.

No. Some parts from Japan, Italy, Germany, and Mexico. Some electronics from Taiwan would be the closest thing to Chinese parts. Foreign parts aren't bad. These are companies that specialize in specific items. Believe me, you want Showa forks over anything H-D would produce themselves!
My Fatboy instrument cluster was assembled in Mexico and I was told the high humidity conditions at assembly was the cause of it fogging up so much it wasn’t readable.

The board has almost no impact on these issues - they are outsiders placed to represent the interests of the shareholders. Their personal and political opinions are meaningless to operations. CEOs are like a fart in the wind, and Zeitz will be canned at the smallest blip in sales due to his high compensation package. The Sturgis tent is always empty - people are there to party and ride, not shop for new bikes. The only thing emptier was the Indian tent. This will blow over like the Bud Light thing. Anyone see how much Budweiser was pounded down at Sturgis this year? But I'm itching to snatch up cheap bikes from butt-hurt posers who would rather wear t-shirts and brag that they ride than actually ride.
Bud light, last I saw was at #3 still and I haven’t bought another. It seems the agenda is more important than profit, let’s see what unfolds here.

I'm right with you, I have wanted a Harley since I was 5 years old. At the age of 41 I was finally able to achieve my dream and purchased a 96 Springer softail. I loved that bike, till I let a buddy ride it and he recked it. After which I purchased, last Christmas (and still owe on) a 2012 FXDX Fat Bob. Now that this has all come to light, I am stuck in this conundrum. I know I cant sell my bike for what I owe and I absolutely despise the "woke culture". I sure hope, but am not holding my breath for Harley to change course. Till then I have trashed all my Harley gear and have de-badged my bike. If Harley continues down this path, as soon as I can, I will become an Indian rider!!

Hang on to the bikes. Ride and enjoy them. There wont be a ton of people dumping Harleys. Not enough to affect anything price wise. The used market is pretty flooded anyway and deals are out there. I'm keeping my stuff but not supporting Harley.
The lifestyle has not gone woke. Just corporate and there are a ton of independents out there that you can use that are better than any dealer anyway.
I drank BL for 30 years. Haven't bought an AB product since. I really should have dropped them when they were bought out anyway. The entire culture at AB has changed. I live in St. Louis and know several people that work for AB. It ain't what it used to be.

Harley is a small company that can not survive a serious boycott. With fewer people riding (risk adverse young people) and HD doesn't have other products like Honda to rely on, their future as an American company is doubtful. No one believes the move to Thailand is temporary and HD's stock price is half what it used to be. Chances are HD will eventually be sold to the Chinese. In fact, cutting production cost is one way to help get the stock price up before the company is sold.
I would think Indian has a real opportunity to become the dominant big twin brand.

You're paying a premium for a lifestyle brand. Without that it's an average product at a prrmium price. There's still money in the over 55 motorcycle market. Why they didn't just ride that until the end?
But I’m fed up. I now regret trading in my 07 Heritage and spending so much on a CVO Street glide and again on a Fatboy, (which has the engine offset of center and causes the front tire to wear unevenly) the market has tanked. I’ll just wait this out, hopefully, and sell.

I’ve kept up with sport bikes. It takes a lot to scrape floorboards on a Fatboy. Which I’ve done.
Harley apologized but that means nothing, they kept the CEO and the same board members, all they did was sent out some BS letter saying they are not doing DEI or LGBTQ stuff anymore, but as long as the same people are in charge then i am out on Harley, I already sold mine and will buy something else, at this point I don't know what, but just as long as it's not a Harley. I also haven't watched an NFL game since the NFL players took a knee. Done with all this woke crap and any company that supports it.
Yes, I’m fed up with it all. It’s up to good people to take a stand but I’m resigned to just walk away as a matter of principle if it doesn’t have an impact. NFL continues but they are headed toward killing it. Baseball, not throwing four balls for a walk, appealing an officials call … just sad to see the path to destruction.

Well, I haven’t owned an Indian … yet
HD is making a fool of themselves but I love my bike and it stays in my stable. I would buy your Heritage in a minute if I had room for it. If you feel the need to boycott the brand, just quit buying stuff going forward but you can still support the mom & pop local shops for service, gear and add-ons. Seems foolish to suffer a financial loss just to make a statement.
That’s what is most tragic about this kind of thing, (mom and pops) but Harley also stopped buying from American suppliers as I understand and was just doing assemblies in the US for US distribution.
2017 equals Harley under woke management. Leave 2016 and older out of this! Put the Woke Go Broke where it belongs! In Zeitz lap! And buy a good older Harley. The new ones are crap and overpriced!

@@RichinHeart. After close to 60 years riding, I am down to one motorcycle...a high mileage but dependable 2007 Honda ST1300. If I don't wad it up it will be my last one. I have never understood the emotional attachment to HD products. First, they don't suit my riding preference...I don't like cruisers in general except to look at. If I were to buy a cruiser, HD would be at the very bottom of the list due to style and quality. I don't go in for the look, sound, and group crap. I want something I can depend on and I can ride with some pleasure (still) in the twisties without scraping pegs. I think HD riders in general are more attracted to the social thing...never interested me. I have one or two guys I trust enough to ride with and I have been all over the country by myself.
Incidental to the above epistle, I don't like the way HD treated Eric Buell. I think that guy had some great ideas and could have put HD in to the sport and sport touring markets. As for the latest HD stunt, screw them all for good. I hope Indian puts them in the ditch.
@@marcomalo02Buell, you’ve got a point. As to culture, I was in Tootsies Panama City Beach during bike week, parked my bike in the main parking lot instead of trying to squeeze it in the main drag and my waitress (who knew I rode a Harley) and I talked about me not wearing “The uniform”.
