Yes, I made this movie. I was born in Hackney, grew up and went to Lauriston Road school. Most of the photos were taken by myself or family. Glad you liked it and nice to know someone else got some pleasure from my memories - thanks.
Thanks so much for posting. I lived as boy on Ainsworth Rd. in Hackney, and this was the first park ( it seemed huge at the time ) in my experience - means a lot to see it again.
5.17: Lord, how this image is ripping through me. A remnant of the old London Bridge I believe?....Nye 60yrs on & I'm there, bikes around the sides, me & a friend or three, sheltering from the rain, the slimy, slippery, wet autumn leaves....wet through, shaking but somehow comforted in that damp, miserable little shelter...I swear I can smell it as I write! As someone else commented...bitter sweet....thank you so much for the picture, I'm now off to spend the rest of this day sobbing in nostalgia.

I lived on the south side of the park in Bow. Nice video of Vicky park, as we called it. Many memories of the park from when i was a kid in the 60s. the 3 ponds near the running track at 4.32, which i run round in a race on our school sports day. ( Bow Boy ). The deer enclosure, the rabbit & guinea pig enclosure. We use to go fishing in the boating lake or the canal that runs along side the park. Must have spent half my life in this park as a kid The really were the good ol days.
born by bow bridge and the lea in the 30s, used victoriarpark to exorcize pony's with a trap 2 pony's tied to the rear of the trap on a sunday, just veiwed the utube pics, many memories brought back for me.
I remember breaking my leg in vikki Park lido in the 70s was only about 8 what really peed me off the most was it was right at the start of the summer holidays and the plaster caste came of just as the holidays were finishing so didn't even get no time off school lol.. Nice video as I was born and bred in poplar burdett Road shame we can't turn the clocks back too when the East end was the best place too grow up in my opinion 😀
maureen kidd ..If my ancient memory serves me...The fountain was grey marble, and the drinking cups were battleship grey and secured with thick chains, probably to prevent little buggers like me from nicking them...Greetings from the Philippines.
Who remembers when Victoria park had rabbits and deer to feed in the enclosure? The whole park was filled with beautiful red squirrels until the grey ones came an pushed them out. I know exactly how those red squirrels feel now!

I also went to Lauriston in the 60's and then Parmiters walking through the park passed those dogs every day
@@aryehfinklestein9041 I seem to remember that Ainsworth Rd became Skipworth Rd, at least my end of it along Parkside Estate.

Tower hamlets and Hackney Borough all gentrified now most locals live and fled London and hailed to Essex .
Vicky Park is part of my childhood and youth, and still a refuge if I wanna get away from the noise and cars. I will always love it.

I so love Vicky Park. I spent so much time there as a kid, so did my mum, my family , my grandparents. We're lucky to have it.
