In a discussion with Bill Hamilton I learned that I had some misunderstandings about the cylinder and switch setup in a Scout II. Please read.....From Bill, Yes, adding a relay the way you did it was one way of bypassing the actual problem. Good job. BUT Sniper/any EFI system states power must be there in key on and during cranking. On the 79 scout, which used a prestolite distr, there is no power through the tumbler. The switch is down on top of the column under the dash and has slots to adjust the position and is moved via a push rod from the tumbler Earlier points scouts used a second wire from the starter solenoid to the + side of coil to bypass the ballast resistor. If adding a relay, most will take the 12v going to the coil (before the resistive wire or ballast resistor) and use it to power a relay so it applies direct Battery voltage to the system. This wire is marked with a 16 near the terminal. Most of this is covered in the injection tech forum on www.binderplanet.com Here's a link to the replacement ignition switch. HTH, here's the link to the switch. www.rockauto.com/.../international,1979,scout+ii...

that's good info my friend.
Glad you found it helpful!
Very good info. The relay is the better option as dead spots in these older ignition cylinders are probably quite common.
Yeah, I’ve heard it’s a common issue with Mopar vehicles as well
Very cool fix! Nice to know that relay is available for projects ! Cheers.
Thanks, I hope it helps somebody out there!
Nice info you should have way more subs for that awesome trip you documented I’m going to go on all these scout groups and plug you 😊
That’s awesome man thank you!
