  • After some years, finally I made my first tutorial video, after many question and comment in my previous video about design and production of plastic shredder.
    This is general step for design a shredder, and there's some detail step to make it perfect, but for this step it's basic that can help you in design process.

      You can got revolution from motor spec and reduce ratio of your pulley set. I used A type. (It depend on total transmitt torque)

    Brother Mohammed Mashaa Allah you’re a very experienced designer, i was wondering about the capacity of your machine, is it determined by the multiplication of the overlapping shear areas of the blade (side area), by the average linear velocity of these overlapping blades (2*PI*60/Radius), and by the density of the target material should this shredder put up with, and finally by the number of blade-to-blade interface (i.e. if you have 16 blades you do have 15 interface) ?

      About your question, the answer is yes, it determine by:
      1. Total overlapping area of blade. My intersect area isn't 15. Bcs the blade angle configuration was 3. So it will overlapping every 3 set blade.
      2. Total cutting edge, mine is 4.
      3. Rotation each blade.
      Density of material only for determine input method.

    can you tell me what will be the resultant thickness of the shredded pieces according to the sizes of the blades that you chose?

      In blade design I assume blade thickness become cutting area for shredded plastic, in case i want about 10mm widht shredded plastic.

      Thanks for watching, I got is also when first assembly, you have adjust those blade position by spacher thickness. Or add chamfer in blade side ( i saw another shredder with loose between each blade. There's a friction from each blade)

      Hello, just in my opinion... to determine the exact performancr you have to calculate it first, at least general calculation for motor power

      Styrofoam is soft material and I think it will be a granular result if you use grinder mechanism, but you can use shear shredder too, it was a universal mechanism for any kind of workpiece.

      Hello, its because prime mover on drive shaft. It drive two shaft that each shaft has 54Nm load.

      Penggunaan nilai beban material trgantung case, jika workpiece tercacah secara tarik maka gunakan normal ultimate, dan ktika trcacah dengan metode potong (shear) maka gunakan shear stress max. In case shredder utk plastik trdapat 2 pmbebanan. Disini digunakan yg trtinggi.

      Did you mean 4 blade cut? One blade has 4 cutting teeth. And 2 blade on the 2 shaft cut in same time

      Blade width 10mm, and edge sharp assumption 0.1mm. Assume edge area 1mm2

      2. Choose the diameter pulley that available in the market depends on your ratio.

    so so sorry but going through your calculation for cutting force value I don't think is correct. 44.82Mpa x 1mm^2 =44.8N not 4.88N. Please look into this, thanks

      I confirm 1MPa = 1 000 000N/m², 1 000 000mm² = 1m² thus 1MPa•mm² = 1N

      Hi brother, about blade shape design until now I found no detail explanation about this..
      Commonly design is 2 or 3 teeth in one blade. I try to made 4 teeth but cannot compare yet. It need some research. But so far I think it's affect to cutting time and capacity.

      @@muhammadsigit973 Thank you so much for the reply brother. I have another questions. For simulation of the cutting blade, the max stress is 1.5 MPa. Is it acceptable? Because the tensile strength of the plastic is 44.82 MPa. Second question, how do you get the value of 6.75 Nm torque? I tried to recalculate and the answer is 0.675 Nm.

      Hi brother, about stress simulation.. that's true material strength is 44.82 MPa, but the force in cutting edge it should 44.82 N (I have a miss conversion in beginning of the video).
      That force give the stress in blade max in 1.5MPa, different shape will give diferent amount, you can try in your own.
      About the result, because of miss conversion in the beginning you can follow the step, but rechecked your own calculation. Thank you
