This is my childhood!! I use to get in fight with my classmates in middle school cause they thought bear grills was real survival!
I mean bear is far more experienced considering hes an ex SAS.. xD

Savage Paco I am by no means a survival expert or survivalist. I watched Survivorman and Man Vs Wild (some other Discovery survival shows as well) when they aired. I liked Man Vs Wild just as much as Survivorman and could not care less about Bear staying in a hotel or whatever people had a problem with.

The first rule of survival when lost is dig in. Unless there is a substantial reason your current location is unsuitable/unsafe so not keep moving around. You only make being found more difficult. Establish a good camp. Gather resources. Keep a fire going. Work in circular patterns from your camp, pushing out only as far as necessary. Keep the fire smokey during the day. In thick woods there will be less wind and the smoke will go up through the tree tops and be visible.
Changing location when you don’t know where you are is not going to help. If you knew where to go you wouldn’t be lost.
A week in that forest? You guys must have been stinkin at the end ha ha.

I can't believe Les made the number one mistake by not staying in place! Lol I kinda thought the chopper was mostly looking for the red wheeler for a starting point. Point last seen at least. As well as looking for survivors.
I live on the great lakes and I wanna try my own survival expedition one day I feel I know my home woods pretty well I'll just experiment with a bunch of materials and foods before I do
before u go u should do some research because a lot of people disappear in the woods. at least don't go to where these people have disappeared. ever heard of the Missing411 it's very interesting and scary.
I've always thought that this episode was the inspiration for Dual Survival. An inferior knock off show, although Cody was awesome. One of my fav episodes of the series.
Cody was stupid..I saw the episode where they were in snow and ice..and he goes in without shoes..you can tell he was suffering..his cohort was pissed...
Dual Survival is also heavily scripted and faked.
Les's buddy likes to leave a trail of trash.
The other answer to why a hunter never set a snare comes down to local laws. I've been places where even a basic setup up for small game required an extra license.
What about poison ivy ? What's the treatment if you in the forest ?

That scene where Les chewed Bob out for not letting him finish the scene is a classic. The comedic timing of Les' sigh and him looking absolutely done, the silence afterwards, that goofy smile on Bob's face the whole time, and Bob saying it was a good line. That entire scene is comedic gold and I'm so glad it was kept in.
The producer takes last line I guess. Hmmm. What ever. Les.

I used to watch this show all the time on TV years ago. Its so surreal watching them again. So cool of Les to make them available for free. Cheers Les, you ignited a love of survivalism in me that has never gone away. You're the real deal, and im so grateful to be able to watch all these episodes again!
Me too buddy, I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid/teenager. I was stoked when I just so happened upon one of these episodes, I was like hey I used to watch him alot, the real survivorman haha. Not all those other shows

😅you play at being a survivalist Mr. Stroud but in this clips as in many you have ,unnecessarily expelled resources to rescue you and your pal that you know are coming.i have learned one thing from your videos is that you always get saved.maybe that's your point,do what you gotta do so that already scripted scenarios go as planned.
Thanks for posting these Les. I tried watching them on the History app but to watch a 45 minute episode I had to watch 55 minutes of commercials! This is way better and hopefully puts money in your pocket instead of theirs. 👍🏻

@@EvansSecret I'm sorry but No. I have made a choice NOT to watch ads for products I will never buy and resent having them shoved in my face against my will. I wish him the ALL the best but I believe there should be a better way to gain revenue without being held hostage by ads.
@@Eleivana777 I get what you’re saying, but it isn’t about you. It’s about supporting people who are producing content that we enjoy. I make it a point to not buy from what I see in Ads, but I still watch them on channels I love, because it’s literally the only way they can make money on TH-cam. Don’t punish the creator for the errs of this platform.

Aren't all woodsmen survivalists though?
Being a legit woodsman will usually keep you alive if you're lost. You may not know all the bushcraft tricks but you'll be alright.
@@mtorngren15 eh, a woodsman is comfortable in the wilderness and has certain skills but I wouldn't put them in the same camp. A survivalist probably won't be able to do everything a woodsman can do and vice versa. And that all isn't to say that a person couldn't be both. I would consider myself a woodsman, I spend a lot of time on trapping, hunting, some bushcraft and can definitely make it a few days out there, but I'm not going to attempt to survive out there for any huge amount of time.

Once he got rid of his "co-host" who only chimed in with lame one liners and egged on Joe, he's alot better now, might actually listen to Les instead of mocking him about Bigfoot. Respect to Les for keeping calm and putting up with it, lesser man would have left.

I like these shows but its upsetting when on day 5 "he finds" a piece of chocolate in his pocket. This happens often. Shouldve been a rule to spread out and show every single thing you have at the beginning.

The thing about the trees falling in the night brings out another good point: check your surroundings and make sure you're not stopping near a dead tree that's likely to come crashing down on you during a storm or heavy rain. Nobody wants to wake up as a human pancake.

Yeah, going without a proper meal for a few days tends to put a bit of a damper on your mood.
I felt it especially in the fire starting part.
Les trusts himself. When he’s out there with other living creatures he focuses on them. They are not as experienced and he has to look out. It’s just his nature.
They are both fully grown men I'm sure burt can handle his snappiness.
I like Bob. He seemed laid back and calm about everything. I guess I would too if I was running with Les.

Les shooting blindly in to the forest instead of much higher makes me nervous, he mightve killed bob
Never shoot into the air, for that very reason. He should've fired into the ground to make sure it didn't hit anything/anyone.
@@WillPanic Buckshot and birdshot rapidly lose the ability to harm after only about 100 or so feet. And considering he shot off-screen, neither of you know he was shooting blindly into the forest. He could've easily been shooting into a tree only a few yards away. Always armchair experts in the comments.
I thought for sure that piece of sh*t Arctic Cat quad would break down. They make top notch snowmobiles but their wheeled vehicles will strand you eventually. Polaris the same thing. Always choose the best, Honda or Yamaha, they will not strand you.

Watching all these episodes again brings me back to 10 year old me siting in front of the tv with my dad. Always loved watching your show taught me so much. Even now I just can’t get enough of it.
It always amazes me how similar nature is in Finland compared to Canada, absolutely astonishing and brutally rapid in its changes of season.
this is another show I prefer watching online versus when it was on TV. there are just some things I like to watch in spurts, and I never tape shows from TV.
Bob is like the confident husband and Les is like the controlling wife: "I end the scene!"

I am a big fan of Les. The way this episode was presented, it looked like 2 guys with different plans. The hunter was cool and quiet with a small fire, so he didn't scare game. Les was like a broken chainsaw at a bonfire. :)
as the episode progressed, I guess Les achieved good survival.

Out of all the episodes of surviverman I evwver seen I never knew he had it episode where he was surviving with someone else.. this is the best episode i have ever seen we need more of les surviving with Bob this was an amazing episode
Bob, you didn't catch anything cause your hook is fn huge. You could have had a string of 20 bluegill but your hat hook is for muskie.

What boggles my mind when you see such a vast wilderness....no people, houses, roads, etc. is how there can now be 8 billion on the planet?! It just makes my pancreas ache....DOH!

Hunters wearing orange, I believe, began in my Home State of Wisconsin, because hunting and drinking beer and even harder stuff seemed to be concurrent activities. I believe drunk hunting ought to be as illegal as drunk driving. The wearing of orange is to keep other hunters from blasting at anything that moves. Orange is quite noticeable to a sober person. Drunks heed no rules.
I lived near there for years in temiskaming shore's , in the town of haileybury and we have to go find minimum of 3-5 missing hunters and more hiker's every year.
1 of 3 make it out alive after a few days or less being stuck out there.
For god sakes the bugs will get you if the fishers and or coyotes or bear don't get ya.
And it might be warm in the day but the bush gets super cold at night and out there if you make the wrong decision and walk the wrong direction even a little off you will either not find a road at all or walk clean passed a town as there is only 6 towns in the hole area of northern Ontario and if by chance you were north of cochran you have no towns north and only hurst west a good hundred or so km away ,so literally nothing for hundreds of kilometers of extrema bush and lake's and hills and cliffs.
If you survive that your are either really lucky or really lucky.
Bob was my favorite character on Survivorman. I wish they would have done more with him
I love when Les uses this show to help with training for local search and rescue teams. It's an important job and I bet all the men and women involved in search and rescue appreciate the opportunity to show off their skills on TV.

Here in Nova Scotia it's in the hunting regulations that we must carry a source of fire, compass and a knife. So if technology fails we are covered.

I've watched every survivorman episode like three times. I love the show. But I didn't realize how type A he would be with his friend! I think Les works best alone.
Anyone notice the Les shot 3 times into the unknown Forrest? Bob responded appropriately by pointing his shot gun up . What if ol Bob had been in the direction Less shot? Guess he would have still known what direction to walk when he heard the thump of Bobs body fall out of the tree

Seems like a really fun time, and also informative. Les didn't really explain in detail but the coordination with SAR to get some training for the team was very interesting. Seeing the trackers and the targets simultaneously is fascinating. This was a fun episode to watch.
I used to think Les was good but know I’m not 10 anymore I’ve realized how terrible he is. He’s mate is no further than 100 meters away and blows nes whistle and says can you hear that and gets a yes ,also he hams up the danger ,he didn’t leave the ranger ST in India and in Romania he stayed on the same road saying how dangerous it was It was well used and he stayed on the whole show ,he’s not what he professes to be ,he’s mouth organ is terrible

All the bear grills haters need to back off ,his show is kinda wonky yes but les is actually going through the motions for a week I dont ever recall bear telling us hes legit for 7 days solo like les the 2 shows create a completely different dynamic 1guys showing you what to do the other is showing and doing- ray mears is amazing too hes not camping in tarp shelters but has amazing knowledge as does bear and les I take cues from all 3 when I'm in the Bush in northern Ontario p.s why the hell did les fire his gun flat into the woods that angle looks like he was firing at the fkn treestand lol
that search team is insane.
The only negative that comes to mind in this video is when you are firing your distress shots and have the gun pointed level. If you were looking to find your partner (or anyone) you couldnt guarantee they were not in the line of sight of the gun. Small chance of a friendly fire, but a chance none the less.
I have been watching survivorman since i was a young adult. I remember a lot of episodes but this one stood out the most in my mind. The teamwork and effort that went into keeping each other going and alive absolutely classic. Thank you Les for uploading all these fantastic videos for us to enjoy once again.
That shotgun Les is carrying is a recoil-operated type made by Browning. It will stomp your shoulder!!

I have to say, I much prefer Les by himself. Bob seems cool, but he kinda tries too hard and is a bit of a cheesy character, in my opinion.
bringing a flare gun wouldn't be a bad idea and you could prolly scare a bear off with it too if you don't have a gun just don't burn the woods down
Maybe if I were heading into true desert or Arctic tundra, or if I've survived airplane/boat crash. Otherwise no freaking way I'm packing in a flare gun and flares.
A forgotten favorite of mine! I always loved this episode, you guys came off as real friends looking out for each other.

Ok, I am certainty glad that Les and Bob made it safely and yes, I understand there are and were safety measures in place to ultimately keep them as safe as possible, I wouldn't have it (any) other way, but after all is said and done, I am disappointed that I didn't get to see them eat the bird Bob shot. I'm a simple man, with simple tastes and the opportunity is gone forever. My freaking mouth was watering... Lol
