London Street Photography - Long Exposure London at Night

- Welcome to this week's vlog. After a very challenging day in London, I wasn't sure what the evening would bring when I attempted to capture the St Paul's and The City in all it's night time glory...
I'll let you decide whether or not it was a success but personally I feel that this was probably my favourite vlog to edit and features what I feel are some of my best images to date.
I hope that you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Great video Gary... the left-to-right movement throughout the video made it feel like a journey and then going from a bad day to some awesome images really created a great story. Excellent job, I'd say! Brilliant images, well done 👍

Re: Photography That would be brilliant, have to be a Friday or Saturday night due to work but I’m only along the M4 or 1.5 by train to Paddington 😂

Great video and shots. It’s -40c here in Calgary with the wind chill this morning so I’d take a bit of rain, so don’t complain about the weather to much lol. Look forward to the next vlog and keep up the good work 👍

Beautiful video! I have to say, you nailed both the editing and the music in this video. Absolutely loved the shot at around 8:30. I'm from Sweden, so I don't get to go to London that often. I've had a bit of bad luck both in terms of weather and time constraints the last times I've been there, but I really want to go back and get some proper shooting done, especially at night.

Really enjoyable vlog Gary, the video work and your photos are great. I have taken a few photos from the Thames beach when the tide is out and it does certainly give a different view of London than the normal street level views. :)

That was a very nicely done vlog. Not many tripod holes down on the banks round there, plenty of rats, but signs of tripods , not so much 😁

One of your best for sure mate. I can tell why you were itching to release this one! Love the opening b-roll with highlight colour in mono. The image at 8:34 was my favorite, that lower perspective on that shot works really well and the colours are awesome. A 7 image 25 sec exposure must be one hell of a file size! Great film mate and BTW you were so keen to publish you forgot your end card 😁

Love that image of St. Paul’s Cathedral, hoping to get some nighttime Long Exposure on Saturday night in London. Only there overnight with a couple of lads for some Street Photography but I’ve never really done much at night. Wish me luck, I need it!
Nice Gary you got some great night shots 👍 you should walk down towards tower bridge and city hall some great leading lines
It's on the list mate :-) There are so many more fantastic places along the Thames for night time images that I'll be doing several more vlogs on them hopefully :-)

Love the shots. You've probably already done this somewhere down the line, but I'd like to see a vlog on editing your low light street photography. I'm still trying to work out how you get that illustration (not quite HDR) combination of detail and glow look.
Do you know, I haven't done a video on that, but it's now on the list :-)
Great vlog Gary, very inspiring. Used to go up regularly to London to take photos, walking from Vauxhall to London Bridge. But haven't been up in a few years; bit put off by being hassled by police and security guards when using a tripod. Must make more of an effort, especially as it is only 30 mins into Waterloo

Hi Gary, loved your video and the panoramics are amazing.. Whats the reason for taking 6 photos and stitching rather than one wide angled picture?
Loved the black and white B role with a hint of colour at the beginning. Curious to learn how difficult it was to stitch long exposures and your post processing workflow?
Gavin Perry funnily enough I am planning to film a vlog tomorrow talking about just that. It will be based on landscape photography but the principles are the same 👍

Like the opening B roll and conditions look great for black and white, but then the change. Love this transformation to night and rekindled energy from a grey black and white day 😊👍. I’m glad you did vlog it! The St Paul’s shot 👌 can’t stop the landscape photographer in you. Stunning. What camera did you use Gary for your panning shots and B roll? Re: Photography sounds great! I’m well up for it. My street shoot was tough but Liverpool is a great city to shoot. I shall be returning, posting pics later. Not sure about them but hey I’ll post em anyways 😊
