    Great video Todd! Some things here that I wasn't aware of - hoping to see that new firmware soon .

      Yeah me too. Would be nice if the filters worked correctly. And faster game flashing would always be welcomed.

    Great review! While $400 sounds high to some people, the reality is that I could sell off just a handful of my carts and have the money to buy this.

    • @OOOAAAIII
      @OOOAAAIII 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would never sell any Neo carts in exchange for a flashcart. Especially for MVS there are some great games you can buy for that money

    • @dankhill6851
      @dankhill6851 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      400$ is really high, that's enough money for enough studio equipment to make enough money for the flash cart, the reason 400$ is high, is basically because people focus on incorrect things and that money could've earned way more money. Still, if I had the extra 400, i'd probably just buy the authentic carts, as that actually puts more precious hormones in my brain, such as dopamine and serotonin, we spend thousands upon thousands on dopamine and serotonin from little pieces of electronic components

    For that price they should have went with SRAM instead of flash (flash slower, limited read/write lifespan).

    Greedo from the forums. Great review man. Very professional. I love my Neo SD, it even works perfectly with my Daedalus converter. I personally don't care about the load times one bit. Just enough time to hit the restroom, and grab a beer before sitting down to get some gaming in. I think people fail to realize you can flash MOTW, turn off the console, and load it back up instantly. So if you want to cycle through games and not actually play them then this might not work for you, but if you actually want to get your game on, this thing is near perfect, with high possibility of only getting better. My NeoSD will have to pried from my cold dead hands with a crowbar. Such a great product by the NeoSD team.

  • @For4Reel
    @For4Reel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice but too expensive at the moment, a multicard only costs a fraction and with a few mods, they run quite perfect. Also the loading times for de roms are also to slow at the moment.

    • @FinalManaTrigger
      @FinalManaTrigger 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you like to flip back and forth between games a bunch, then yeah, it might be aggravating. But if you take a game and play it completion over a period of time, once it's flashed it's in there.
      People need to learn some patience though, this is a great product.
      P.S.- Loading times can be greatly reduced by getting the fastest micro SD card possible. I've heard of flash times being cut by as much as 2 minutes over standard speed micro SD cards.

    • @For4Reel
      @For4Reel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is a great product, and the review was also superb. But at the moment for my use its to expensive. But that was the case for every "everdrive" like card. After each revision it become cheaper! On the long run it will be perfect solution!

      No idea. Darksoft hasn't really said much recently on the development of his Neo Geo flashcart. If he waits too much longer, he is going to miss the boat on sales. Plus I just received a firmware update for my NEOSD and plan to publish a video tomorrow detailing the changes including improved (I hope) flash times.

    It must havr be very hard for the creators to develope such sd card for the neogeo ,but my only complain is,why did they not chosen for a cf flash card instead,it could,ve easily fit in a neogeo card case but more importantly, it's 10 times faster then sd cards, but still it's a must have for neogeo owners.

  • @grhdhrennenvdv6997
    @grhdhrennenvdv6997 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    well, the NEOSD works and is available now.
    Sadly, they use Flash instead of Battery-Buffered RAM chips. And since they don't mention anything about wear leveling, they may not last "long", as typical flash will only hold out a few thousand write cycles. Sufficient for a lot people, but if someone.uses it in an arcade-alike setup and let people switch it freely, it may die within two years of extensive use.
    Also it's quite pricy, and if the 138-in-1 cartridge would work with a multislot mvs, it would only matter to serve the last dozen games you don't get on the 138-in-1 or the 161-in-1.
    Still, it's quite nice, but given the fact that I can't find any legal info on their site and that they don't even offer PayPal (only credit cards) it's exceptionally and pointlessly cumbersome to order at them.

    • @bunta714
      @bunta714 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grhdh rennen vdv On the official thread on the Neo Geo forums, they explained that the flash is rated for about 100,000 writes.

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grhdh rennen vdv that would be exactly my worry as well.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bunta714 That is the typical expectations per-device. It is a mean before failure, so that means some will far outlast 100,000 writes and some will fail just as early. In a device like this you will be limited to the lowest life of all the chips. Each additional chip increases the chances of it dying before 100,000 writes, making it a near certainty. “Erasing” also counts as a write. Thankfully, they now offer a “Pro” version that uses RAM with the option to flash to a slot for faster access in the future. It’s a good balance.

    Great review. I just can't justify $400 for the few games my 161 in 1 doesn't have. I have a mame cabinet right next to my 2 slot MVS. If I'm going to play roms anyway, I'll just play on mame.
