Beautiful machine. I will look for your "after" video now. Thanks for sharing. I do the same thing. I am restoring but I have to stop collecting. Just no room. Be well.

Hi Toby, I'm interested in purchasing this 1870s Osborn Sewing Machine as is or after you have had an opportunity to clean it up. I enjoy the old original cast iron machines, and I, too, enjoy repairing these old machines. I am 78 years old; most of my machines are older than me. My oldest machine is a Singer model 12 that dates to 1873. The old model 12 is a hand crank machine I use nearly daily; it sews a beautiful stitch and is very user-friendly.

Hello Toby! I've just picked up an old Osborn treadle in not too bad condition. At least, it's not frozen. But, the shuttle (and also shuttle cover plates) are long gone. I know the Osborne is very very rare and chances of finding a shuttle for it are slim to none, but I'm wondering how similar the Raymond shuttles of the same era are? I see you happen to have both machines 🙂... would you be able to compare the two and give me a better idea? Thanks so much in advance!!

I'm saddened to hear you've lost the vintage sewing machine bug I guess it makes sense to restrict your collecting to a specific criteria if your limited on space. I just have to add that one of your previous videos led me on a 5hr round trip to get a Raymond #1....squeal.....It's in great shape. I found some more info about it on the Guelph museum web site and it's pictured. I do see some differences compared to yours as in no writing on the coffin top and planer irons. Shuttle and bobbin are still there. It would be nice to have a couple more bobbins. The decals are outstanding and the #1 is clearly seen so maybe the planer ones are earlier...not sure....I need to do some more research. :)

Toby: i know this is a long-shot, but do you have an original Singer 20u bobbin or a vintage 306 bobbin case for sale? I'm in Toronto. I'm posting here because I've no idea how else to message you.
