- When Modern Sonic was born! Japan sure advertised the heck out of this game, it's insane how many ads they did. Also includes some ads for Sonic Adventure DX for the GameCube.

Fun fact: the plushes used in the SA1 Japanese commercials are prototype plushes for the Sonic Adventure plush set.

Still the best 3D Sonic game.
I'm not surprised Japan went all out on the marketing for this game. Being a Dreamcast launch title following the success of the Saturn in Japan (While the PlayStation outsold it by a landslide in the long run, the Saturn actively competed with it and actually outsold the N64) meant that this was the best opportunity to try to get Sonic to do well in Japan.

Adventure 1 and 2 are... Overrated. As stated by RadicalSoda: "I haven't met a single person that's said Sonic Adventure 2 is their favorite game that haven't played it as a child."
It's a good game... But it's not the best. Not by a long shot.
@@genericsonicfan581it is tbh it has action and it really brings out the funky designs of sonic and his friends it includes some banger soundtracks it was dark (you don’t find that now since sonic has transformed into his bedsheet form) and sega wanted sonic to go out with a sonic boom
@@genericsonicfan581 I half disagree with that statement. I think Adventure 2 is overrated yes but Adventure 1 is actually fun. Sure it's not perfect, it's clunky in some areas but the game is still fun. And this is coming from someone who didn't grow up with Sonic Adventure 1.

I don't think there's any kid nowadays that would say an early 3D game is their favorite. You really think anyone who haven't grew up with Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time would call those games their favorite in this day and age when they have recent titles and better-looking games like Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild?
And if we're being honest, most fan favorites Sonic titles like Sonic Unleashed, Generations, Colors, and even Frontiers are somebody's favorite because they grew up with them and is their first Sonic game. Let's not pretend that it somehow only the Adventure fans that are blinded by nostalgia.
From 2:02 to 8:30 , Y'all mostly see at the end of each commercial, the "SONIC" text forming the logo, is exactly the technique they used in the 1996 OVA.
I love how Japan is using old beta footage of the game looks so cool especially the beta version open your heart.

The Dreamcast's marketing in Europe REALLY pushed the internet angle, imo to its detriment.
I was set after watching the first commercial. I remember watching that back then, and it sold me. I was on PlayStation at the time, but I got to play Dreamcast at a friend's house and the youth center. These commercials helped prove that the Dreamcast had what it takes to be a good console...but it didn't work out.
I still love these ads. They show that Sega knew how to have fun with their IPs and try to make it just as fun for everyone else. I've seen many people say that the Dreamcast wasn't a bad console, it just didn't hold up against the competition. That's fine. I'm sure some people were still rocking the Atari 7800 after the NES came out. To each their own.
All that aside, I appreciate you bringing these commercials together and sharing them with us. A noble cause. 🙂👍

@@xavierlime06 yep, it's been a confirmed fact in the community for years now. Also, we likely have at least 4 of 7 documented, as the full Eizo Sakamoto demo has multiple audio bugs from the short version edited out, along with the mixing being slightly different. This would imply that those are two separate demos rather than one being cut in half. I'd also wager that at least one demo is just Johnny Gioellie making random hums, as he once said that he had to do a "vocal test" before recording the track proper if memory serves correctly. Think like the Sonic Heroes demo.

Of all the 3D Sonic games, Sonic Adventure is my most favorite 3D Sonic games of the series. The first version I played was the GameCube version before, eventually, I played the Dreamcast version. Although I like the GameCube version a lot, I think the Dreamcast version is better.
