There is really no comparison. I have lived in China since 2004, taking a 5 year break to return to Canada, then moving back to China for good this year. In Canada, I would have been working my ass off until I was 70 at least, if not 75. However, now, at 54 years old, I can comfortably retire in China and technically not have to work again, other than making TH-cam videos like you! My current apartment is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and fully furnished with beautiful furniture in a tier #1 city. I pay 5000 rmb! MUCH cheaper than anything in Canada!! Great work on the video! Can't wait to see more!

5000 rmb for housing rental is NOT cheap considering the average income of China, and which "tier #1 city" is it?
Also, assuming you use half of your income for housing (which is very high), then your monthly income would need to be at least 10000 rmb, are you telling me you make 10000+ rmb from a TH-cam channel with less than 5k subs?

I used to have a small apartment in shanghai, monthly water bill was less than 20 yuan, electricity was less than 200, gas was less than 30 yuan, soooo affordable. now i live in the US and have a big house, water, gas, electricity and trash collection is well over $300, around 2100yuan. it's so expensive to live in western countries, i really miss cost of living in china.

But you have gained freedom. You can serve the internet however you want without an internet firewall. You can freely critize the government without worrying someone will knock on your door and invite you to a cup of tea. Driving is also very affordable here in the US.

I have been living in Nanning, southern China, and our prices are certainly cheaper than yours. Public transport is between 2 and 4 yuan (roughly 20 to 40 pence), meals at a regular restaurant can be between 25 and 50 yuan. Yesterday we ate at a high end restaurant for a family ocassion and that only cost 100 yuan. If you are in a tier 1 city in China like Beijing, Shanghai, Schenzen, Guangzhou they are a lot more expensive than in other places.

Cost of living is fantastic in China. In Melbourne Australia, groceries, utility bills, internet, petrol, home and health insurance is through the roof. Also, our previous free healthcare system is becoming more like the US's - you either wait years to have surgery through the public system or pay a fortune upfront to be seen faster with private hospitals

As a Macanese 🇲🇴, I’ve been working & living in the UK for roughly fifteen years. One funny thing living in the UK 🇬🇧 is everything comes with a relatively fair price especially during the era UK 🇬🇧 was part of the EU which means vegetable sold in the UK supermarkets mostly imported from other EU countries like Spain except one thing housing! Housing in particular not only not very spacious but also very expensive!! Another thing is public transport & travel, not only services not very frequent but also relatively expensive especially trains in the UK 🇬🇧 comes problems of all sorts-extremely complicated fares & expensive, overcrowded & delayed, etc, etc,!! Apart from these, all other things are still acceptable like clothing in good quality!!😊
But it seems the quality of life living in China 🇨🇳 now is far better than the western countries where life is very stressful due to the high inflation which makes prices surge significantly!!

That is why China is far better than the USA or the west because the GDP in PPP, purchasing power parity, is higher than in the west. Your money in China worth much more than in the west. It is not only caused by the high inflation in the west but also because of the fact that everything in the USA and the west cost more because of the capitalism which is based on profiting as much as possible from the situation. The working class is always the victim.

Factory workers make much more money than cleaners or cashiers. And it varies from city to city. For large cities like Beijing or Shanghai, factory workers can make about 2,500 to 3,500 pounds per month. And in one of those most undeveloped cities they can only make about 800 to 1,500 pounds.Cashiers or cleaners can only make half of what they make, two third at most.

If you happen to be a labor aristocrat working in the finance industry in London, you'd be making much much more than your Chinese counterpart (maybe a few times higher if not 10 times) so as to still be able to live a much higher standard of life even compared to the highest-paying white collar job in Shanghai.
If you are just an ordinary white collar worker in London, the living standard is probably only slightly higher than your counterpart in Beijing or Shanghai.
If you work a low-paying job in London, it would be hell for you. Your counterpart in Beijing or Shanghai won't live a luxury life, but at least they get their medical bills, and children's quality education taken care of so they have hope for the next generation.

The costs for any standardized state of living under categories like economy upper economy lower middle upper middle lower high and upper high. All of them if matched with similar classes of foreign countries is gratefully economical in the scale of 1 to 4 even for countries like used to be the cheapskate Malaysia. How does China do that? They have perfected the basics of and the basis for the unmatched anywhere else in the world the socio economic development of China which surely makes China the best choice even for the fussy Europeans, Americans and others who do not to live on an illogical budget which is a waste of money, body and soul.
