I've watched this show so many times already...I actually like it so much. The show is simple, elegant, entertaining with modern twist (ethnic dance). Congrats to the choreographers and producers of the show...job well done!
I agree! I remember back in 2015 when that happened, there were so many Filipinos bashing the dinner event and cultural show - they could not understand nor appreciate how unique and modern and different this cultural presentation was than the usual. They were hoping for something to be like China’s APEC cultural show which was magnificent, but the PH showed something different and just as entertaining too. An overall theme is in the show, presenting the history of the Philippines mixing cultural dances and modern music and more.
I'd been watch this almost hundred times since 2015 if im not mistaken. Because this was an amazing event in our Philippines history in Pnoy terms all leaders around the world had present and witnessed the Filipino cultures, its was a greatfull to show our cultures with crafs excellency in art and music. Thank you to all people behind this. It's a greatful for being a filipino. Thank You very much Pnoy to served to our country you're always gave a pride to the Filipino.

Cecil Licad, the prodigious pianist. i remember she was very popular during the Marcos era. she was an excellent pianist as a kid and was even sent by Imelda abroad to study.

Wow, that was a great entertainment event. So proud of showing our culture and talented filipino performers to the world. Congratulations to all who took part in producing this sucessful production. This last song sang by charice, martin and gary I think are new compositions specially for this apec event. So proud of being a pilipino.

We should not compare the 2015 apec and 2019 asean summits. The Philippines is just giving different kinds of performances. Para hindi naman masabi na paulit2x nalang ang prinepresent natin hindi ba? Try to watch 2007 asean summit as well. Simple but elegant din yun
Sus. Dami dahilan. Just face the fact na mas maayos ang organization nung 2015. At the time nagsisimula na ang mga Filipino na maging proud sa kung sino tayo at kung ano kaya natin ipakita natin sa mundo. Mga OFW gusto na bumalik at maginvest sa Pilipinas. After that? Wala kapalpakan at incompetence na naman. Just look at the SEA games. It barely made it. Muntik pa masira sa mga political grandstanding na wala naman pakialam ang ibang bansa.

@@aeriacross770 bat di u nlng sabihin n noon at ngayon parehong maganda ng kulturang Pilipino. Wag u n isali pulitika. Kultura ang pinaguusapan hindi performance. Be proud nlng kasi qng di dahil s mga ginaw ng mg ninuno natin malamang INDIO padin tau. Be thankful nlng po s mga gnawa nila. Un po pinapakita ng cultural dance. To show the world where we came from and who the real Fiipinos are.

APEC gala dinner emphasize the Filipino culture, while ASEAN was about showing world class talents of Filipinos which also connected to the theme "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World". Both are world class. Stop comparing.

as a Filipino, i am proud that the country was able to host the APEC meeting. regarding the said show, here's just a few observations:
first of all, i highly applaud the performance of Gary and Martin because 1. they're performance was flawless 2. the song's lyrics is right for the occasion 3. it is in "English" therefore those people listening could feel and understand the meaning. i only wish they were wearing our very own Barong Tagalog instead, just like Obama. El Gamma's performance is awesome as usual.
2nd, Jessica is really good. i saw her other performances too and she is really talented.
3rd, they modernized the Filipino dance. those delegates and their company are from "modern and more advanced" countries. does the organizer really think that those guests still enjoy modern dance and music? they expect to see some "exotic" stuff, since the Philippines is popular for it, and they gave them a "modern" kind of show that is too common in their own countries. yes they were wearing our own cultural clothing, but the dance style (i'm referring to the male dancers) was too modern.
4th, singing Tagalog songs wont be appreciated by these non-tagalog speaking audience, so no matter how brilliant the singer is, it's just nothing to these listeners. 5th, the visual effects on the stage is so simple. i mean, we have lots of very talented Multimedia graduates who could do better than what they did there. how i wish they were given a chance to showcase their talents too. after all, it was a chance to impress other nations. we could have done better.

the whole show is like chop suey. putting all big talents in one show. but their talents were not properly showcased and presented. there's no fluidity. its like having them all just to show. the sequence was so bad. the lighting was high technology but its all darkness all the time. the LED is competing with the performers. the foreign guests are looking for great entertainment not popular talents. they don't even know them.
