Blood Money was the pinnacle. The last mission, the heartbeat, the music, getting up off of the catafalque... Unbelievable
I still haven't tried that one. I'm gonna have to. A lot of people really like it. I haven't played many of them. Absolution was really the only one I truly got into and played start to finish. Multiple times.

Blood Money was a beautiful, artistic game. I will always remember the ending. A true work of art.
Hitman 2 Christmas is clearly the best one that amazing facial animation, amazing engine, great AI and lets not forget that CRISP 1080p.

I used to play the first one with my cousin when we were something like 11 or 12. We fell in love with that game. My fav remains Blood Money (the level in the theater is INSANE), but it's very hard to choose. Hitman is one of those rare series that maintained their own identity trough the years, despite the changings to the gameplay and the general upgrades. Absolution is very beautiful and funny too.
Gustav Line absolution is great. People just hate that it changed. The graphics were amazing on the ps3 and the game play was fun and challenging. Maps were a bit too linear and small but the sound.....it was beautiful
The opera level on Blood Money is unbeatable, the best of the Franchise

If you like blood money I hope you played silent assassin. It's a bit more linear and the ai is very hard to work with at first but it gets great.

What I find interesting is there are very clearly two different directions/styles the franchise can take. There is the classic direction, the one shared by Codename 47, Silent Assassin, Blood Money, and 2016; The world's and levels are more vibrant and on larger scale, the art direction is colorful and versatile, the missions and character designs more espionage focused, each of them have a rich story to tell between the levels.
And then there's another direction, the one shared by both Contracts and Absolution. The world is built with darker colors, character designs more ugly and noir like, no level is in the sun, its always night time and story telling is sacrificed in lieu of richer atmosphere and gothic overtones.
I absolutely hated Absolution as a Hitman game, but I cannot deny that it was masterful in staying true to and building upon the tone and world direction contracts built for it. Contracts and Absolution kind of stand out on their own amongst the franchise as their own unique thing.
Not really Absoloution just tried to Copy loads of other stealth and shooter games. Contracts had loads of open levels and most of them were from codename 47. Hitman Absoloution had a few levels set in the day time.

Absolution was a pain in the ass. The checkpoint system? What the fuck.
Earlier we could finish a mission in so many realistic, silent and effective ways. Now it is just bullshit. It's like the American action movies now. Stealth? Where the fuck is that. I always replayed missions for "silent assassin" rank. But now what all has it become?

It's not that great as a Hitman game (expect for The King of Chinatown mission). Look at Blood Money and 2016 - they're great.

Honestly,I played the game entirely Stealth Mode and it was worth it. I find it a good game,not the best,but good.
HITMAN is, in my opinion, the best Hitman game purely for the development in graphics and gameplay. But I feel like there was still some aspects from Hitman: Blood Money that are missing that made that one better that could make this one better.

Hitman 2 Christmas game was the game that got me into Hitman, good ass game
I love how IO Interactive had the nerves to dare doing something different with Hitman Absolution. Even though many people had bad things to say about it, I absolutely loved it, plus it humanized 47 in a way the other Hitman games never came close to.
That's WHY people didn't like it. 47 is meant to be a psychopath.
In some ways, hes not human. He is but not normal. As the years have gone by though I felt he has became a bit more human I feel

47 wasn't meant to be humanized. He is supposed to be a logical sociopath. And The Strong, psychopaths don't enjoy killing per se, they simply crave the feeling of power over people. As a psychopath myself, I am offended.
You shouldn't blame IOI for absolution.
My opinion of all hitman games as a true fan is
Codename 47 - Best game of the year
Silent Assassin - Made my childhood
Contracts - Its creepiness was incredible
Blood Money - My favourite hitman game
Absolution - Look it is a linear game don't hate it.From my opinion it gave us an idea for the successors (if you hate a hitman game that means you hate 47!!)

Most hitman fans will pick blood money as his best game and rightly so but for me i started with silent assassin 2 and I've played all of them after silent assassin and all have there argument for being his best game basically balls down to the individual and there preference but the missions in part 2 still has a hold on me that i cant shake from my mind and for that it will always be my favorite!!!

I do like the music in the new games, but it doesn't fit Hitman as well as Kyd's did. Apocalypse from Bloody Money is one of my favourite video game pieces ever.
But you can't forget *Hitman Contracts* . One of my favorite memories was playing it in ps2. Thumbs up If you agree 👍.
Contracts was my first Hitman game. Loved it and stuck with the Hitman series since then.
I find it amazing that they managed to keep the same engine (Glacier Engine) since Codename 47, yet they kept on improving it, making it more modern and more suitable for times game was released in. Man, most of the engines don't hold that well over the years.

people will always be nostalgic..thats normal..i played Hitman codename 47 from first day it came out and every hitman after that..Somehow i got to admit darkest Hitman for me is Contracts and missions like Meat Kings party full of blood and scary place to be is somehow atmosphere for Hitman..it had beautifull graphics back then..I dont really see why people worship Blood Money that much..Yeah it was great music very good levels but somehow gameplay wasnt a thing for me...it was slow shooting and what pissed me off the most was when u shoot the guard he would shoot wit one hand and hold his ear microphone to call for reinforcements..they wouldnt search cover and so on,in each room there was a bin to hide body which was funny..Good Hitman game but only ambience music and graphics was the thing why people loved it...Absolution forced you to follow story u dont have your SILVERBALLERS and custum upgrades but yet u had good meele combat better body hidding system yet worst disguise system if u dont use instinct..but overall very good game..yet people from start start to shittalk about it from anouncement..now u have hitman 2016 which is great it has huge levels meele combat from absolution better graphics and so on more possibilities to execute the target..yet people shit talk it like blood money is better..go play fuckig blood money with dumpest AI ever seen in games..only downfall of HITMAN 2016 might be u have to constatly be online so u could play it..but lets hope they will not make it happen

I always loved Hitmans face in codename 47, very handsome and cold, if they could have only kept the same structure and updated the codename 47 facial features with better graphics, his face would have become an icon, instead of changing it all the time in almost every hitman series :/

Silent Assassin will always be my favorite Hitman game. I remember playing it on a demo disc, I never knew how to play it but the music and atmosphere was enough for me to love it.
Played through Hitman Blood Money all over again in 2018 and its simply a work of art. Beautiful game.

Honestly, I wanted to love Blood Money so much but I was so frustrated that every copy I ever bought glitched in the same place that I eventually abandoned it. The only one I've ever played and completed is Absolution, and simply because it's the only one I've played, I did enjoy it a lot. Maybe if I managed to finish Blood Money, I'd prefer that one. But for me, I really do like Absolution.

Unfortunately, Absolution had too cumbersome control and level structure. I didn't have enough patience and gave up.
I can't be the only one slightly annoyed by all the new players for who Hitman Absolution or even Hitman 6 was their first hitman game and they just shitpost all the older Hitman games.Games like Codename 47 and Silent Assassin were way ahead of their time when they launched.

I love all Hitman games.
I loved absolution. I know it's gotten a bad rap for some reason. But I think it's very underrated. I've played through it multiple times. And then the contracts were really enjoyable as well! I made a few really hard ones that even I had a hard time completing using all the stipulations. I really liked that game.

Absolution was a great change the game needed, I loved blood money and contracts the most but for some reason absolution makes me nostialgic and i wanna re play it....I loved the mechanics, AI response, Graphics , story (especially the nuns mission)...The mission were way too better than playing those plane kill-a-target only missions of rest of the games....However I do gotta admit the checkpoint system and map display sucked...totall 9.7 game for me!

i really love every hitman games. But for me blood money was at top.
I fucking loved hitman 2 silent assassin purely because of how hard it was , when i got steam in 2007 , that was one of the few games i picked up and i think ive spent a little bit over 250 hours on that game because i completed the entire game 5 hours but then i decided to go pro difficulty and try and get silent assassin on all of them , ive spent 2 weeks on 1 mission because it was that hard
I just don’t get it. Why are the new hitman games so different then Hitman 1, 2 and 3? Where’s the music (like Jesper Kyd‘s soundtracks), where’s the epic story telling? So many possibilities to kill, much more than in the old ones, but it’s so unsatisfying. The new games seem so soulless...

Hitman blood money is the best ever, I understand that they wanted to make the last ones more easy and more "american" to get more success and sold more, but the could have made hitman 2016 more like hitman blood money, especially the AI. I dreamt of something like a remake of Blood Money, with better graphics and physics, with 15-20 locations (but not that big like the ones from Hitman 2016) and still balanced between action and stealth; I really don't understand why it is so hard to make something like Blood Money
